Now that the dust has settled and muh Superman is back, when are they gonna give in and bring back the red trunks?

Probably in a year or two.

They keep hinting at them by deliberately not showing them. Honestly I don't understand why people thing they're so silly. I get where they come from thematically from circus strongmen but you can just argue that's how Kryptonians dressed.

This new Superman series convinced me the trunks need to come back. Let Superman be cheesy goddamnit!

Oh and they might as well bring back the red boots too. Its baffling why DC is being so stubborn when its clear that the majority of actual comicbook readers just want the Superman they grew up with

Red boots are also needed at some point. Honestly though, this is the best Supes has looked in a while so I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Tomasi and Gleason know what they're doing.

>Oh and they might as well bring back the red boots too. Its baffling why DC is being so stubborn when its clear that the majority of actual comicbook readers just want the Superman they grew up with
Then bring back the mullet as well.

Right now DC is deliberately trying to pander to people who want the classic stuff back. I'm surprised the classic Superman uniform wasn't part of the Rebirth hoopla.

The biggest irony is that the trunkless Superman designs ended up being associated with the stuff with the most bad PR for the character.

Other than Aquaman's Ben Grimm pebbles look, I'm pretty happy with all of the Rebirth costumes. They're classic but it's also new. It's not Jim Lee's edgy nonsense.

What was DC thinking when they chose to Batmanize Superman with the New 52 run? Did they honestly think that the pros of doing that (pandering to those who want muh realistic gritty alien Jesus) would outweigh the cons (angering the die-hard Supes fanboys who just wanna see some hope in this shitty world we live in)?

When the New52 Superman makes his return.

No thanks.

Yeah, I'm at least glad they got rid of the armor look. They should've done that with New 52 Superman earlier.

This, Superbro will get the trunks. It's the only way this can go.

What were you thinking making this post having not read the comics the character was in?
Morrison was the first Action writer for fuck's sake the stories were super upbeat and hopeful.
New 52 Superman being an ass or darker is just a casual meme

Worst thing about this "classic" Superman is it's just Byrne's take in which Superman is the disguise and Clark is the real guy. Classic Superman is just that, Superman.

Can't wait for DC's next event "Battle For the Trunks."

Like half the artists drew it as if it was fabric with some lines on top, that's when it looked mostly ok (collar still needed to go of course).

Earth-2 Superman has still had the best trunks-less costume. That Gleason Superdad design would have been better but DC is retarded and gave us this blue boots monstrosity instead for some reason.

Anyone else find this version of Superman to be a bit of an ass. I noticed it both in Action and Aquaman

>Action and Aquaman
There's your problem.

Didn't get past the first few issues of Action. It's not very good. Haven't read Aquaman so I can't speak to that either, but he's pretty great in his own book.

>Batmanlets
>When will they learn?

Love that smug ass grin on Jon's face.

This is a valid point. This is actually the post-Crisis Superman not the Silver Age Superman. I.e. Clark is the real person. Superman the disguise. Not Superman is the real person and Clark is the disguise as in the Silver Age.

That being said. It's still who most comics fans are most familar with. And it's questionable if Silver Age Supes would work in a modern DCU. Although Morrison obviously did an outstanding Silver Age Supes in All Star.

..You could make an argument that Silver Age Supes isn't even the real Superman. And it's Golden Age, wisecracking, casually throwing bad guys off buildings, fighting slum lords, 1930s socialist Superman who is the real Superman.. which brings us back to Nu52 Superbro ironically..

Action is his own book too. And Superman is just awfully boring. I don't need 4 issues of a yawn inducing fight with the eradicator.

Superbro only started out that way and evolved to match the modern progression of Superman in general.

Too many people missed the point there.

They literally don't read the books.

its ridiculous how the artists seem to deliberately use any tactic to avoid drawing Superman's blue crotch.

they want the red tights back bad.

Yeah I literally didn't read Superbro after the first few Morrison AC issues, until he got depowered/exposed and went back into the tee shirt and jeans for DCYou and then ultimately died.

>Not Superman is the real person and Clark is the disguise as in the Silver Age.
>actually believing that stupid Kill Bill speech

Fucking moviefags go home.

No, no I don't think you've read any of it user

Ok this might sound dumb but I always thought Batman and Superman were the same height, or Batman being a little bit taller (Batman around 6'3" right?) What's the canon on this?

You should go back and revisit Morrison's run for sure. And Pak/Kuder were better outside of crossovers, though I think that literally boils down to only the underground arc and the Smallville arc.

Honestly sometimes I think I was spoiled by having Johns/Busiek be my first modern Superman runs because it seems like the rest of the past 20+ years has mostly been that crossover big status quo shit rather than just telling some stories.

No. Getting rid of the trunks was the best thing DC has done to Superman in years.

All you Trunks fags need to get off your grandkid's computer and go back to taking your fucking meds.

Bill was right about the Golden Age and Silver Age Superman, bro.

Superman before John Byrne was really the real Superman. He was super immersed in Krypton's culture and regarded the Clark Kent persona as something he had to put up with.

>Bill was right about the Golden Age and Silver Age Superman, bro.

Not really, it was still an oversimplification.

Without the trunks the issue of Superman's crotch bulge becomes immediate and inescapable. You can't just have the public all simultaneously trying not to look at Superman's penis while contemplating it on every level from appearance to durability and strength.

Casual please. Pick up an older comic for once. And no, not late 80s old, even older

>No. Getting rid of the trunks was the best thing DC has done to Superman in years.
Go home Moviefag.

>muh Superman
>its not Pre-Crisis Superman

Which Crisis?

>TFW you never this casual

Golden/Silver/Movie/Bronze age superman was the real character. Clark Kent was the disguise.

Johns/Frank is my favourite Superman runs ever. Equal or maybe even better than Morrison/Quietly for me.

Jurgens is I think fantastic. He's the Supes I grew up with and am enjoying him being back. Though somewhat feel they should let Jurgens tackle another character as the writer has already given enough to the Supes mythos.

the one on Infinite Earths in 1986.

Though besides some minor problems they could get most of Pre-Crisis continuity into Post Crisis version.

>Superman before John Byrne was really the real Superman
Try Cary Bates.

Superman 296-299. Mid 1970s, written by Cary Bates, Drawn by Curt Swan.

In which, Superman has to choose life as Clark Kent 24/7 or as Superman. He gets one issue as each. As Clark, he generally deals but has some weird dreams about not being able to save the day. As Superman, he's driven to tears.

So again. Go home, moviefag.

yea Bronze Age superman was the real character and Clark was the "disguise"

Yes. Who took the Super out of Superman ends with Superman going back to being Superman full time (and dropping Lois whom he dated as Clark for that one issue)

He likes being Clark but he knows he's really Superman

No you're right, that cover is just a bit weird for that reason.

Never. Good riddance.

Why would they if most the stories painfully dull?

Rather have red boots back

In the DCAU at least, Superman is taller. In the story where Bruce is missing and Superman impersonates Batman, a GPD officer asks Gordon something to the effect of "Does he look...taller?"

...

Wouldn't be the most Supes we had flying around at the same time either

Yeah, and then they promptly ignored everything Morrison did for edgy Supes
