Dougie stuff gets pointless the moment you realize Cooper comes back at some point. The scenes are not bad, but there's no stakes with the character (maybe the family if you get invested there). On the other hand, the Twin Peaks (town) characters feel like facing the end of the world.

Pointless? Dougie scenes are a beautiful portrait of a newborn in an absurd world, also the supernatural dimension of TP being portrayed as a genuine force of hope and salvation (for someone who is freed of his old attachments and pure of heart). Having this counterbalance to all the death and despair is what makes it life affirming.
