Rick Moranis played the character too sympathetically for the original ending to work

Why were the lyrics to every single song such shit?

It certainly fits the tone of the movie more.

The original ending was totally out of tone with the rest of the movie.

The original moral of the story was do bad shit get bad shit happen to you, but it turned into if you do bad shit and regret it for the woman you love you still win in the end

Every song in this movie is fantastic. What lyrics are you even talking about?

Either way, it's one of my favorite musicals. Can this be a musical discussion thread now?
Will they ever make a film adaptation of Urinetown?

True, but by making all of Audrey 2's victims mean-spirited dipshits, that message gets lost.

No they aren't, and all of them.

Why does she talk like she has a mental condition?

>has airy bimbo voice
>singing voice is deep and forceful
wtf

Brain damage from getting slapped around by Steve Martin.

Only because warner bros was too cheap/lazy to restore the rest of the footage that was cut and reshot when the ending got changed.

There were more deleted scenes earlier in the movie showing Seymore willingly agreeing to keep the plant alive for fame, instead of it just happening on its own. Look up the full version of "The Meek shall inherit" to see the scene that wasnt in the DC

Josh Gad could make a great Krelborn, he already has broadway experience too.

But no Rebel Wilson, please god no.

I dunno. Godzilla plants are pretty cool op

Out of love bro

how sad that seymour is so depressed to think that Audrey would literally disown him if he got rid of the plant

Actually my problem with the ending was that it was just a parade of depressing disaster porn. I liked the concept, but the execution wasn't a very satisfying. The theatrical cut simply works better.

Suddenly Seymour reprise is too on-the-nose campy. Were they going for a shock ending? The cut-from-play We'll Have Tomorrow would have worked better there.

I kinda wish they'd remake the original B&W version, and turn it into more of a sleazy horror movie set in the 70s/80s New York.

So are they Gods?

What's this movie called?

Of course people are going to say the ending they grew up on was the better ending. Personally I just found the original ending to be more fun.

More like a Greek chorus; messengers to and from the gods.

nah, they are just the storytelling device aren't they?

Like in Hercules with the Gospel Truth.

Little Shop of Horrors.

>A remake of an adaption of a play adapting an old movie

when did you find out you have a low IQ user?

I saw the Director's Cut of this film before I ever saw the theatrical version. I didn't even know the film ended in a happier note originally.

Stay on topic. The lyrics to all of the songs in this musical are terrible. They're really fucking bad, and some are just downright stupid.

>characters are starving, skid row, poverty cases
>cast fatties

Don't feed the plant. It lives off (You)s.

Save face this way if you like.

Better wait a minute.
Ya better hold the phone.
Ya better mind your manners.
Better change your tone.

Don't you threaten me son.
You got a lot of gall.
We gonna do things my way.
Or we won't do things at all.

Ya don't know what you're messin' with.
You got no idea.
Ya don't know what you're lookin' at
When you're lookin' here.

Ya don't know what you're up against,
No, no way, no how.
You don't know what you're messin' with,
But I'm gonna tell you now!

Get this straight!
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
and I'm bad.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
and it looks like you been had.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space,
So get off my back, 'n get out my face,
'Cause I'm mean and green
And I am bad.

Finally got to watch the DC a couple of weeks ago and can safely say that you're full OH SHIT.

Wow, those are some terrible lyrics.

nnf, damn gina

hey, we got a grammy winning song writer over here. go watch the scene, he/she's not singing it, he talking to moranis in rhyme and his/her's delivery is spot on

I think he should have killed a few hobos/assholes to make the thing truly work.

Understatement.

...and I am bad

SO LONG SEA MOE!

Bad things happen to good people, this film was not called the The Little Shop of Delights, loved the grim ending.

Because you're a mean spirited dipshit you deserve to get murdered and fed to a plant? Naaaaah, I love seeing get it as well but murdering, the "right" thing to do? You need to look at yourself
*shouts at whole class*

YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK AT YOURSELVES

poor people are fat cause they eat shit

its better in context

What's the best version of this film.

DC

Sometimes bad people get away with doing bad things

But that one has the inferior ending.

No, it's just you suffering from inferior taste.

>Preferring the kaiju plant ending to the ending that stays in-tone with the rest of the film
Pleb

Anyone else a little peeved that these didn't appear in the DC? Not even a special feature on the disc.

>original ending
>not in tone with the opening text scroll

ADHD detected.
