I was

Had a 7:30 am chem class freshman year at UCSB. Heard two girls talking about "one building fell. No I heard both fell." I asked them what happened and they said there was a terrorist attack. I asked "on who?" And one of the girls replied "us". I spent the next several minutes wondering why terrorists would attack Santa Barbara of all places and then put it out of my mind for the rest of the day. After class I went home and played Tekken until my roommate came home and told me to turn on the TV.

I was in a mall in Singapore and remember watching a TV and being transfixed. I didnt know what was happening but I knew that the anchors were being very serious.

I had started third grade recently. I had just come down with strep throat, so I was on the couch in front of the tv. I watched footage all day. All fucking day. In retrospect I wonder if that didn't fuck my shit up.

I was trolling the #NY chatroom on IRC (EFnet, if I remember right).
I had an entire network of IPs at my disposal, so they couldn't ban me effectively. It was really a frenzy of activity then, with everyone asking for info and panicking.

3rd grade, was going to school but parents were watching TV. I was complaining that I was going to be late but my parents said I could be late for this.

I don't think we really did much at school that day, put the TV for a lot of it. After recess was probably mostly normal. I knew what happened was bad but didn't understand the gravity of the situation.

>brother comes home
>quick put on tv! it's amazing!
>what?
>PUT IT ON! THERE'S AN ATTACK OR SOME SHIT!
>switch on tv
>da fug :DDD
>what happened?
>I think it was a missile
>a second plane appears and crashes
>TOP KEKS

I don't remember. I wasn't even 5 yet at the time.

>2nd grade

Celebrating New Years.

I bet no one on here knows which country celebrates New Years on 9/11...or 9/12 every leap year.

close enough. been watching the world go to hell for too many years now.

Was 9

Remember my mom and dad watching tv and I thought "who the fuck cares. It's not Denmark. I'm hungry"

I still feel this way

>be me
>be 10
>love america
>dad works in NYC
>once it becomes known as a confirmed terrorist attack I start to cry
>dad works no where near the WTC but still was worried sick
>dad come home at 12:30 because he was helping the cops and fire fighters out any way he could
>literally hundreds of guys from wall street left their job to go help out NYPD and FDNY guys get supplies and take out the injured
>Dad comes home and I remember because when he came home I tried cheering him up because since it was 12:30 it was technically Wednesday and for some odd reason wednesday is his favorite day of the week
>just kisses me goodnight, hear him talking to grandpa over the phone saying "were gonna find the sons of bitches who did this, kill them, their families, their neighbors, anyone who even fucking knows them is dead!"
>Dad is one of the most calm and loving guys I have ever met.
>cousin joined the marines 2 weeks later, dropping out of college.
>dad so proud of him he paid for his plane ticket to SC

>At work
>radio in the background says a plane hit the WTC
>think "some ATC guy fucked up hardcore"

>Freshman year of high school

>teacher crying
>everyone sitting around in awe, staring at tv

>isn't movie

Here's the kicker. We weren't allowed to leave school. There were two buildings in my high school that were attached by 2 small hallways that were always crowded, or you could walk outside which was infinitely shorter. The administration thought it would be "too dangerous" because terrorists might target us for some stupid reason? Nobody was allowed to go outside the building.

i was 7 years old and i have absolutely no memory whatsoever of 9/11. do you fags actually remember it? because i feel like everyone just relives a memory that their parents told them they did instead of their actual memory at that age

True story:

>5th grade, Principal mentions turning tvs on and the world trade center
>teacher thinks it was about the previous bombings
>tv turned on, building ablaze, teacher SRS up real quick
>Second plane hits, we're kids and don't really appreciate the gravity, teacher crying
>later that day instead of music class we have a lesson on the world trade center
>Music teacher says "this is the tallest building in the World"
>"Not any more" I say.
>Sears tower is way taller dumbass
>MFW I realized he said 'Tallest building in New York' and I made the biggest 'too soon' joke in my life

I'm over it now though, it's a funny story to tell.

math is amazing, isn't it?

I went about my day because Bush kept us safe.

My Dad was laughing at it on TV.

>be jet fuel
>be tired of flying all the time

>in military
>everyone went crazy and we started war prep immediately
>every lt colonel and above disappeared for 2 weeks to prep for war
>now 33 and dating chicks who are 20, try not to ask them what they were doing in elementary school hahaha

It was the very first time I watched "the news" voluntarily. I was home sick actually, and I remember my father coming in and telling me to change channels to see the footage, cause he heard it on the radio, but I was already there.

Waiting for the chicken to be done

oy vey

> Be 9 years old

I dunno m8 I was 5 and not American. I remember I called those twin ice cream cones "twin towers" though.

Because you're here forever

>>cousin joined the marines 2 weeks later, dropping out of college.
>>dad so proud of him he paid for his plane ticket to SC

>joining the armed forces to get revenge for 9/11

didnt your prince do that?

Tampa

I was 7 and when I got home from school I couldn't watch cartoons because they'd been cancelled in favor of the news. That's about all I remember, really. Never really dawned on me quite how serious it was until I saw the footage of people jumping out of the building later in the day.

> At work.
> wörk wörk wörk
> a manager walks in

>3rd grade

>what the fuck why is every channel showing the news? That's boring
>go complain to mom about not being able to watch digimon
>she freaks and yells "THIS IS WORSE THAN PEARL HARBOR"
>this shuts me up, I watch the news in silence
>later that week, go out to the world map that was painted on our basketball court
>ask gym teacher which country was Afghanistan
>me and a few friends spend 5 minutes kicking and stomping on Afghanistan
I actually told me parents I wanted to go as an anthrax letter that Halloween because everyone was so scared of it, lel.

Sounds far more entertaining than cartoons

Male royals usually do service in the armed forces anyway, but yeah I think he did. I was more making a joke about those responsible for it.

He went back after and the military paid for his college. literally removed kebab in return for college

your story made me laugh. Best thing about 9/11 was how fucking unified everyone got
too bad it's the opposite now
I was at school, I remember it being a pretty warm day. In the afternoon I was in French class and I remember seeing a teacher run by the door which I thought was pretty weird.

After school was out me and my friends would often walk home, it's not a short walk but it's doable without catching a bus if you're not in a rush. So we took a long leisurely walk, I think we might have stopped at some shops to get a drink. It was a lovely sunny day. I was not aware of anything about the attacks at this point.

When I got home both my mum and dad were intently watching the news. I don't know why my dad was even home, he would ordinarily be at work. There was nothing but smoke on the TV, the second tower had collapsed like ten minutes before I got home. I joined my parents in being glued to the TV.

I'm kinda surprised I managed to go for that long without knowing anything. Considering how kids all have mobile phones now, I can't imagine it would be anything like that if it happened today.

Don't remember, I was 5 yrs old.

>just came back from school
>making myself a snack (pb&j)
>turned on TV in kitchen
>saw the smoking towers on urgent broadcast BBC programme
>watched as they fell
>thought that this was the first real historically important event that I could remember (only 4 when the Berlin Wall came down)
It was neat, and I looked forward to the coming war against Muslim baddies.

Probably had a few faps later, and played a bit of vidya.

>home, watching cartons with dad
>no more cartoons, news comes on
>wat
>wtc gets snackbar'd
>"fucking yanks, can't even fly a plane straight"
>fuck it let's go get ice cream"

9 years old living in New York at the time. Fucking chaos, police everywhere, next few days were like living in the movie I am legend no one was outside.

I was 6 at the time. I don't think I even knew about it until a year or so later. I don't remember anything about 9/11 from around that time.

>in case an international terrorist organization wants to attack a random middle school in florida

Shit man, that's almost as unlikely as some terrorist attacking a random gay night club in Florida.

I like you

>sixth grade
>north of New York city, in westchester county (many parents/family members of people work in WTC)
>in English class
>teacher is called into hallway for a moment and continues teaching
>thirty minutes later, school announcements
>we are gathered into classrooms based on grades, they won't tell us anything
>a few kids get picked up
>the rest of us sit in largely silence from 10AM to 1PM when we are dismissed an hour early
>hear on the bus that someone crashed a small plane in the WTC (information was hard to come by as few kids had cell phones and they shut down the internet after the second plane hit)
>come home, dad is there along with family friends
>ask what happened
>get told
I missed it unfolding so the day wasn't as memorable as the month that followed. The memorials, the fear, the practicing the evacuation drills in case Indian Point (a nuclear power plant less than 10 aerial miles from the school) was attacked, etc.... it was surreal.

Walking to school, I was in 7th grade. Left the house and everything on tv was normal. By the time I got to school everyone was watching this crazy shit, it was bizarre

nigga im from westchester too, Rye

7th grade. Hear one person at lunch say that the World Trade Center got hit. Later hear that the Twin Towers were hit. "NO, the World Trade Center got hit! Not the Twin towers!"

People were panicking. Logic went out the fucking window. It seemed anything could be a target at the time. I think we fully expected war on american soil to break-out.

My dad was in chicago at the time and had to sleep in an airport for a week trying to get a flight back to florida.

was stationed at NAS north island, california with SBU 12. was deployed within 2 months after the attack.

80% or so of our 900 detainees openly celebrated.
I was pissed (had been watching die hard on TV when it switched to twin towers "I dont remember this bit")
Fuck we were cranky, most of us wore Yank flag stick pins for a couple of months after that.

at home playing Homam3, hear parents upset in the living room so i go to check what the ruckus is about. don't really give a shit so i go back to homam3. the day after the teacher want to have a moment of silence in school. we all have it but nobody in class gave a shit. homam3 is still a good game tho.
