I used to worry that all these movies would make it necessary to explicitly write The Thing(1982) etc. every time you want to talk about the original film, but that's no longer a problem since they've all been proven to be utterly forgettable. Every single one of them. Literally no reason to discuss any of them, other than by their relationship to the superior originals.
And a weird thing it is, too ,since The Thing, The Fly, The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers(Sutherland one) are all remakes, and they're fucking great. Some of the best horror films ever made.
There's nothing preventing a remake from being a great film. Hollywood's just become devoid of talent since then.
