Do Canadians get in problems if downloading "illegal movies" torrents? I just heard my friend telling me it happened there.

I don't know.
We are supposed to but hasn't really happened to me and I torrent a lot.

I don't download movies illegally because it's just easier for me to buy a netflix giftcard or watch things on youtube rather than learn how to torrent.

I pirate everything and never had any problems.

Knew it, she told me letters were sent to a friend of her.
I knew it was bullshit.

>Learn how to torrent

NORMIES GET OUT

REEEEE

I've heard of it happening to people who use a specific ISP that is also a major cable television company. Probably they're just being jews about people pirating TV shows that are broadcast on cable stations they distribute like HBO and Showcase. I don't think they can actually take legal action.

I get letters if I download recent HBO stuff without my VPN on

in general it's nothing to worry about... nobody gets sued to oblivion or punished

That is beyond fucked up.

Jesus fucking Christ. Most of the boomer retards at my work can manage to download torrents (one of them got our wifi shut off downloading game of thrones). This isn't even normie tier. You are fucking retarded and I'm surprised you are even able to post here.

When I first started torrenting when I was younger I got a notice saying I torrented quake 4 and to not do it again. Needless to say nothing ever happend. I got another this year after downloading game of thrones and again, nothing happens.

You got your wifi shut for downloading game of thrones? Man, why the hell aren't you creating mass movements yet?

putlocker.is/

just online streaming famalam

never had any problems

>he actually seeds

Don't be a fag, don't tell me you never seed.

>he doesn't seed

Sounds like typical mart-shitter behavior

The mounties are beating me to death with wiffle bats for downloading Corner Gas, send help.

>learn to torrent

Is that Shkreli?

no, but I got a bunch of warnings from my ISP for torrenting Game Of Thrones

>not seeding

Kill yourself degenerate scum

...

i dont seed because im afraid they'll v& me
and i feel bad about it.

Degenerate, not doing your part results in problems in any aspects of life, look at this country and look at what yours is becoming.

years ago it was legal to download, illegal to upload, not sure what it is now

i've heavily torrented for 8+ years, never gotten a letter, used to use peerguardian but dont even bother anymore. if you're not using private trackers in 2016 you're probably not watching anything that isn't easily found on streams anyway

I'm scared because these things first happen in the first world and a decade or so later is brought here, I hate that shit.

I work with a guy that got a few threatening letters from Bell. He took a break and then resumed and hasn't heard anything since. Hard to say if they really give a shit or not.

i used to follow news about people getting charged with such piracy charges pretty closely (torrentfreak.com/ was a good source) but i cant remember a single big case up here

there's too many movies/music/tv that you'll never have convenient access to otherwise to pass it up anyway. oink was the last big private tracker i remember going down and that was almost a decade ago, feds seem to focus on the big public ones like kickass, or forcing the pirate bay to change countries for the nth time. and if these private trackers haven't gone down after 8 years or so of being fairly well known there doesn't seem to be much need for concern

Corner Gas? You deserve to fucking die.

In theory we can get in 'problems' for that but I've never heard of it actually happening.

>>learn to torrent

I don't know how these torrent downloadies work. I assume you download a program that does it.

Austria is first world and I've never gotten anything about my torenting.
The worst thing they do is slow down my Internet because I heavily use the connection.

Hmm yes you download the program and after that you click on the torrent you download.
That's also fucking bad, nobody dared to do those things here but digital inclusion is having them rethink that.

Movie and Porn companies send an email to your ISP, which by law they have to forward to you, that you infringed on copyright.

Unbelievable, 20th Century Fox was "monitoring" a Simpsons Season 5 torrent and sent one. It's clearly all automated, being like 5 pages lone, with pre-typed shit, and it just adds the torrent name in it.

Use a proxy from now on, and no problems

>doesn't seed

found the nigger

Literally t. Alberto Barbosa, fk

They can do it legally I think.
But simply calling them will make them turn your speed up again.
You can hear the nervousness of the admin when you confront him about it since they mostly do this to normies which don't realise what going on.

Torrenting is not illegal. The RCMP even has a FAQ page explaining this.

literally canuckino

It's the same in the US, you only get the letters if your ISP is totally cucked and dont' understand actual laws.

Well we get them because ISP's are required by law to forward them to us

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Modernization_Act

>Adopts a “notice-and-notice” regime which requires ISPs to forward any notice alleging infringement received from copyright owners to the subscribers in question.

I never had a problem until the laws changed, and after a loopppoooot of torrenting hbo sent a letter to my internet provider and they passed the letter onto me, telling me to delete the movie and repurchase legally

Lol I didn't delete it tho

Don't these fuckers realize that model is gone and the best they can do is Netflix like models?
