No matter how hard you wish it to be some sort of superhuman German achievement to live on emerged coral reefs, the Dolomites are mostly in Veneto, Trentino and Friuli

The best ones I've seen IRL were in Banff, Alberta. Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado is also bretty gud, I'd say they were probably tied with the Catalan Pyrenees for me (pic related).

And that's part of Italy, actually this year it will be the 100th anniversary of it joining the Italian state as a spoil of war to secure the Alpine passes against a possible German invasion :^)
