Hello conservatives, my name is Mindy and I am from Newtown Promise, well kind of, I heard about this on Facebook and I am a big supporter of Newtown promise. I have come to try to get you conservatives to agree on some common sense gun reforms. Maybe call your senator and agree to these or bring them up at your next NRA meeting.
Commons sense solution number one: **Ban the AR-15** This gun was used in Newtown, pulse, San Bernardino and other horrible instances. This gun can fire 8 rounds a second and has no place in our streets.
Common sense solution number two **Ban high captivity clips** Clips should be limited to 8 rounds max! This reload time will stop mass shooters. It will also make shooting a fully automatic assault weapon almost pointless.
Common sense solution number three: **UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS** (this one is very important.
We need to stop criminal's from getting guns. Everyone has to get a background check. Also let the ATF have a digital database so they can do this quicker

Criminals will never give up their guns.
Thats why we call them criminals, because they do not obey laws. Laws that protect people and their livelihood. If you completely take away law-abiding taxpayers rights or even constrict their ability to keep and bear arms as a means of self protection or recreation sport shooting, you create an environment where crime will more than likely increase.
All depending where you live and what your city/towns crime statics are, people will choose to have the freedom and ability to protect themselves from the unexpected. Only though as a last-resort effort in life threatening circumstances where a firearm could save yourselves or others lives.

What a silly misapplication of statistics. Even just looking at the first one:
1. A pool in the back yard increases the chances of people drowning in your back yard from 0% to some nebulous number. 2. This nebulous number is collected from how many people drown in backyard pools but has nothing to do with your specific choices, experience, pool, family, etc which are all variable now unaccounted for. 3. It says "increases" but doesn't say what it's increased from. Again, some nebulous number already above 0% determined by how many people in general are killed by guns with no control over the variable of economic position, race, location, education, etc.
And then the rest are similar "dumbfacts" like these with no context and variable control to farmed statistics.

The only common sense gun reform I thought of was to open up NICS checking to non-FFL holders. They can ELECT to do a background check for a person-to-person transaction IF THEY CHOOSE. This does two things:
1. You're not REQUIRED to do a background check to sell a gun to Uncle Bob or Jimmy Friendo you've known for 30 years and know are cool. 2. You can do a check on Jamal Dindunuffin without paying money and going to a gun shop to make sure he isn't a multiple felon.
Let the free market decide. Gun owners by and large are responsible people that don't want to sell guns to bad people but the government doesn't ALLOW us to use the database they already have to check them. I think you'll find more people using it than not using it when dealing with strangers.

Denying people's right to self defense is the ultimate human rights violation.
Forcing people to leave their security in the hands of a governing body is not only preposterous, but out right criminal. It is impossible for a government to protect their citizens 24/7, a police officer takes minutes (after a phone call has been made, if it ever was made) to get to the scene of a crime.
If the citizen of a country that has forcefully disarmed it's citizens by means of confiscation or threat of criminal charges gets harmed in a situation where the use of an outlawed weapon could have protected them, THEN the governing body of that country should be held accountable and compensate the individual or their family for the failure to effectively prevent or stop the crime from being committed.
We all know this would never happen, but it details just how ignorant and ridiculous we as a people have come.
EVERY MAN HAS THE RIGHT TO A FIREARM, NO EXCEPTIONS.
There is no morally sound counter argument against this.
Some might claim that the safety of the majority is at greater risk if people are allowed to carry weapons, the problem with that logic is that they are assuming that the current governing order is protecting them now, when its been stated earlier that it isnt. A criminal will break the law regardless, there men walking passed you everyday that can have a concealed gun, legal or not.
Their fear does not arise from the idea of firearms, but from the idea of having to be responsible for their own safety. (any ignorant idea, since the responsibility has always been there, just covered with theater)

The UK is alright because we haven't had guns for the longest time and if you want one it's a massive deal where the police need to comer over and inspect your house now and then.
