How come Korea is becoming so much more culturally dominant in the world than Japan? Every asiaboo I know loves Korean culture, food, fashion, m.usic and movies while only fat weebs and other social rejects have the same open love for Japanese culture. Everybody talks about when they're going to go to Korea now, despite the constant threats of war. Korea just seems so much cooler than Japan.
Is there a reasonable explanation for this?

I think Korea's biggest advantage is that they don't have a real culture like Japan and thus can focus completely on this kpop/plastic barbie thing they have going on. Japan has some of this too but they also have a long and rich history which clashes a lot with the modernity of the 21st century, this is not something Korea has to worry about and can instead go 100% on the current plastic surgery/party girl/vapid sluts model of life. If a Japanese girl would do plastic surgery to look like a white European then her family would shame her for it but in there's no problem since the nation doesn't have any form of pride.

Korea is very American too, so its much more palateble than Japanese stuff which can be even today extremely strange for Westerners who don;t know much about Asian culture

The Korean music industry can sustain itself only by expanding in Japan (Twice, TVXQ, SNSD) or China (Super Junior, EXO, WJSN).
K-pop is becoming more and more just vanilla Asian music, with just the headquarters being asian, the currently most successful K-pop group is composed by 5 koreans, 3 japanese and 1 taiwanese, for example.

I've been to Korea a couple of times and it was depressing. Hardly any green in the countryside and the cities had really big wide lane roads kind of like American cities.
