There are people on this board who are going to community college

>there are people on this board who are going to community college
>There are people on this board who take online courses

There are people with less than a 2.4 GPA and absolute crap on the SATS who got into schools like UCSD and Washington state

>14th best school in the world

>People with piss SAT and GPA get in bc muh holistic admissions

Why do so many people fall for the college scam, it's really sad. If you didn't go to a private school you're cucked. But hey at least you're a debt slave, that's something.

I did a two year programming course in a community college, did excellent cause the shit was a joke, easily got into co-op, giving me experience from the get-go and had my government job set for me by the time I walked out. All of this, and I only paid a fraction of what university cost.

So I guess have fun spending 4 years and $100k for the same thing

Really makes you think

Have fun getting fired from your tech job when you turn 40 and have to start working as an independent contractor

I went there. MASSIVE amounts of cheating. the fucking chinks pay professional test takers and essay writers and the faculty all look the other way.

>not knowing what your job requires before spending money

>going 76k in debt to get a degree from devry
How?

>spending 76k and 4 years in college and not being able to find a job
>the answer is spending another 10 years and 200k to get a law degree where there are currently...no jobs

You can't make this shit up.

There is literally nothing wrong with online classes, you tard. Virtually every state school these days offer many of their degree programs entirely online.

>there are people like me that got a union job at 20 and will be retired in 9 years.

Sucks to be you.

>there are people who think gen ed shit at uni isnt a waste of time

This is why I don't feel bad for union workers when the union gets disbanded, their jobs moved to Mexico, and they make my burgers at McDonalds.

But don't worry, I'm sure that will never happen to you. ;)

getting ready to go to art institute online for web design. should I back out before its too late? its only going to cost less than 10000.

No, it won't. I'm a millwright in a 4 year old, 1.2 billion dollar facility. Money and bennies for life after retirement. Good luck, cuck.

That's not even for the most expensive program they offer.

>computer engineering total tuition is $92,781
>getting your ass btfo so you can take online courses in your undergarments

>$76000 in student loan debt
>DeVry
>"What do you mean it has to come from an 'accredited' school?"

>art institute online
>web design
>should I back out before its too late?

Read the OP again and think about what you just asked.

...

>falling for the millwright meme
>falling for the new facility honeypot

A nice and shiny building to attract plenty of Chinese investors.

Why would people go there instead of community college?

are online schools just a joke? I think im just going to join the military. air force.

Stupid people everywhere. The question is, should we actually protect them from themselves?

>not knowing Devry is a joke

you are MUCH better off going to a local community college. They are likely accredited and you can, and are encouraged to, transfer at some point.

If you can get a scholarship that pays for the entire thing, go for it. But going into $80k debt for a degree is dumb.

t. white guy who graduated college with a Masters in CS with no debt ;^)

>getting a degree from Devry
>wanting to go to law school after
I didn't know people this dumb existed

Your asshurt is palpable. While we were locked out last year, I had a company fly me across the country, put me up in the best hotel in Reno(if there is such a thing), pay for my choice of rental car for a week. Not bad for journeyman papers that my employer paid for as my credentials.

>falling for the STEM meme

>want to go into economics
>go into sociology instead
>still act and write like an economic student
>graduate with a 4.0
>get a salaried position teaching social studies
>currently earning my MA while teaching

Holy fuck there was literally no competition in sociology, just single mothers and minorities.

Isn't it the fucking best? Finishing up next December with a CS degree, they paid ME to do it

Pretty much, its the similar cost with a less valuable education. I got my degree in history, but I'd consider myself somewhat successful because I made connections while I was in college and don't act like a jackass. It is easy to find a job if you act professional and are honest.

If you join the military don't get sweet talked by the recruiter, do some homework and get an idea of what you want to do.

Are you retarded? If you're planning on going into anything arts related specialize, don't do something generic like web design or photography, tons of idiots do those courses and there isn't much work for them. Pick a specialization like visual effects or animation, move to a city that is a hub for that industry and go to school there, that's the only way to make it in the arts, treat it like a trade and make sure you have a clear plan, otherwise you're just wasting your money.

>not going to a community college for two years to get your bullshit classes out of the way at a 90% discount

Why would anyone go to a Uni for their general education classes? My state even has a program that guarantees admission to any state university if you graduate with a 3.0+.

This is what I did as well, went to a CC that specialized in vocational training so the academic aspect of the school was shit. Nearly lost its accreditation but I transferred before they nearly went under and transferred to the state uni system and now I'm heading for the UC system

>get a few CNC certs from a local CC within a semester or two
>land stable job in a company starting around $45k with good benefits and a lot of room for advancement
>take another 2 semesters of courses
>upwards of $80k in income
>pay off the $4000 in subsidized loans
>celebrate by going to the restaurant OP will be working at in just a few years

woah nigger, there is nothing wrong with starting out at community colleges before going to a typical university. It will saved you thousands of dollars in tuition and living costs (if you live at home still), and you can even get a better education for general studies because local colleges won't try to shill leftist idiocy as much as the highly funded universities.
>online colleges/courses
Now those are stupid nigger-tier shit. If you do that, then you're fucked.

Thank god I have a 135+ IQ

>better for general studies

Also the class sizes are alot smaller 15-20 people for an average community college geneeal education class vs. 200 person lecture hall at a university.

I don't mind online classes. I learn better on my own and time saved by not commuting or listening to retarded questions during lecture is a great benefit.

What is a fully stocked and staffed university-level research library senpai? Why do they exist?

Maybe for some general studies meme shit you can get equivalent education online but to learn anything meaningful you absolutely must network and interact hands-on with dedicated faculty and resources.

Do you see any online chemical engineering programs? How about geology? Med school?

No?

There is a reason for that.

I used to date a girl that went to an art institute. She had a job that paid 50k right out of school and now she converts porn vids to work on mobile devices all day, juat got a raise to 85k a year.

>Thank god I have a 135+ IQ

I'm a dumb ass millwright with a 125 IQ. Your sense of self worth is laughable. Go make my coffee.

*spits in it*

Who's smart now?

I should have clarified. Purely onlines degrees are cancer and many online courses are as well, you won't learn near as much for many fields, but for some it actually is better.
I'm shit at taking notes (I write like a Parkinsons patient), so I would often struggle in math unless I make a friend in the course that can borrow notes from to copy, but when I took an online course and had premade notes to reference I got a 94%. That was with having to take exams via a monitored service. Languages or anything which requires exploratory discussion though, it's utterly retarded to take online.

*sees you do that faggot shit and puts 3 180 grain 10mms into your chest because I'm old and don't give a fuck.

Your move.

What constitutes a real university in your eyes?

In my eyes a university is only good if it either has more than 20k students or its acceptance rate is under 55%

i got into every school i applied for based on my SATs and got a 2.25 at the end of my BoS

>roleplaying online to make yourself feel superior
even the nigger working at walmart with a 75 IQ has grounds to mock you now.

because tuition for a CC is like $400 a semester and that's 100% covered for me because I have finaid.
I get around $12-15k a year if I take classes full time.

Also my CC has the best engineering shops I've ever seen, they probably got like a $10 million grant for that or something.

My other option would meme state colleges that have literally nothing to offer me except a 4 year degree.

A CC can be much better than a 4 year school, depends where you live.

I'm going to community college because I'm not a fucking retard who wants to spend university money on general education courses.

>killing someone over coffee

Jesus, I would hate to see what you do to people who cut you off in traffic.

Two things:
Field? Because that won't fly for most of them.

SATs are for getting into undergraduate, whereas GREs are for getting into graduate.
So, you need to rethink your story there m8.

>implying i'm not a nigger working the night shift at walmart

I'm no roleplaying tho.

>UCSD
>34% acceptance rate

>14th best in the world....yaaaa no chance. What bullshit made up ranking has UCSD at 14th in the world?

I go to UCSD, trust me we have a bunch of retards here

>not going to community college for cheaper credits
>not transferring to a uni for your bachelors

LUL

>implying you'd have the mental capacity to use the internet
Nice try though.

>Taking the SAT to get into graduate school

>Jesus, I would hate to see what you do to people who cut you off in traffic.

I worked as a restaurant manager from age 18-20. I would have beat the fuck out of any employee that fucked with a customers food. Some of us still have morals.

I'm debt free with two BA in tough subjects. I'm cool bro

I graduated with a 4.0 from UC Berkeley and still feel that my education is a joke. Unfortunately, it's the best school that doesn't explicitly use affirmative action. If I wasn't Asian I could have gone to Stanford or Harvard. I will forever be a disappointment to my family.

>GRE
XdXdXd XDDDDDDDDDDDD

informatik and business, as a topic of study.

...

I go to med school (UCSD, went here for undergrad too). Most people here including myself don't go to lectures, we just listen to them online

>CC in my area
>quiet, small, new facilities, full of local white kids and a few Mexicans
>nearest uni
>expensive party school full of douchebags and affirmative action dindus

The choice was obvious.

And it's a chick. I really want to see the cuck who settles with this chick when she's getting out of school in her mid 30s with 400k in debt.

>I'm debt free with two BA in tough subjects. I'm cool bro

I bet those look nice hanging on your wall. Along with the 40k graduates every year that have the same thing. See, I provide an actual value to employers, hence the trades meme. I don't really care; I'll be retired in a few years. I got mine.

CCs are the easiest places to get bitches senpai

I had to go to community college because my highscholl gpa was only a 1.3 and I never took the act or sat.

I'm not hating on your job. I would do a trade too. My original IQ comment was directed at being thankful I wasn't dumb enough to go to Devry.

...

How m8

Pseudo science expert, good job you're officially the smartest downy around you fuckin retart

Why do people stop at bachelors? Over here it's worth less than the paper its printed on.

I would of done the same if I chose the Chad life during HS. So worth it.

>went to community college
>3.6 GPA
>dropped out because tired of not having money
>friend got me a job at his place
>started at $24k/yr+bonus
>in 2 years now at $40k/yr+bonus
>own a house, a car and motorcycle
It's not a lot of money but I'm a simple person, I spend my time either riding or playing vidya with friends.

ARWU is worthless from an undergrad perspective. Forbes is also a shit ranking. US news is the only one that you should pay attention to.

Because your country pays for your college. I'm not going to grad school unless my job pays me too. It's expensive.

>mfw graduated and got a BA but can't find a job

You could always take the GMAT, but GREs are used for pretty much everything. That's what I used to get into my econ grad school.
I'm just going to infer that you're a roleplaying soon to be undergrad after your brilliant display there though.
Best of luck.

Nah, just make sure you're actually learning code for front end, not just UX. If you can start to finish design and code with a CMS to fill in the more technical gaps, you'll find jobs easily.

This is a for-profit she's talking about. Community colleges in the United States are GOLD. People come from all over the world just to attend our community colleges. Anyone reading this, seriously do your homework before you shit on CCs. It's the for-profit that are a scam. Sorry Pepsi flag, shart-in-mart here.

Indeed it was bro I slayed so much yung puss, they used to call me "lil hornee"

>thankful I wasn't dumb enough to go to Devry.

Amen to that. We all have to make our own way somehow. I just don't like being looked down upon because I'm blue collar. I'm blue collar because it offered me the lifestyle I wanted to live; rural, self sufficient, and infinitely employable.

Something I'm worried about is getting accepted into medical school. I'm starting my 2nd year of uni, bioengineering major at Temple university, and I read something like 30% of med school applicants go to med school

My GPA is 3.4, I'm thinking about become a part time volunteer EMT, but then again >Philadelphia I don't wanna get shot

How 2 ensure med school

danke. got my undergrad alrdy tho. 2 months fresh. no job as of yet. just gonna keep applying for them 60k starting jobs. somebody is bound to take me

Meh, I graduated from a top 15 undergrad and top 50 law school and still have no ambition to get a job or even look for one.

Luckily a relative paid for all of it and I have zero debt. Pretty great if I ever do decide to take advantage of it all.

It's fucking awesome being white.

>americans constantly complain about the state of their education system for being too expensive, full of SJWs, and not actually useful for getting you a job

>but they are totally unwilling to change it

????????????

You can learn web design with a 40 dollar book.
Or if you're a more visual person, find good videos on youtube for free.

Only 30% of temple students live to graduation, sorry bruh but the odds are against you

On a serious note, try not to be some dumb ass cookie cutter Asian. It counts for a lot. Don't do the EMT meme

Yeah if I grew up in a different city or state I would have probably done a trade. I would love to go fishing, hiking, etc everyday while doing a trade in a more rural setting. But that's life, maybe in the future.

You would think a med student would be smart enough to know the difference between attending a few lectures online and receiving an online degree.

But alas...

Our CCs are mostly good but alot are shit and miss

And there's a social stigma around CC. People who go to CC are seen as idiots and bad students desu

Not that they are, although most people like that end up in CC

>not going to community college for 2 years for the cost of a single semester at a state school
>not transferring after two years, avoiding all freshman and sophomore nonsense
>not graduating debt free and getting hired straight out with a salary higher than that moron's debt

Only downside was having to take Cal I&II again because they were 3 hour courses at CC and 4 at Uni.

And then get your resume trashed because no one fucking trusts a "self-taught" faggot to actually know what he's doing.

>are online schools just a joke?

I'd say most are, but there are some accredited one. I've heard good things about Western Governors; I know some people in my field (I.T., of course) that got various certs and went into the field, but never finished college, and then went back and finished at WG.

Of course, it was experience, certs, and then just the final check box next to the degree that they needed on their resume.

That said, college these days is mostly babysitting late teens. That's how it felt when I was in college for the first 2 years. That period is just to get teens' heads out of the high school mentality and expose them to a bigger world (which all this "safe spaces" and shit is setting back).

>top 50 law
t14 or bust senpai

Thing is everyone who applies to med has some sort of EMT certification but barely anyone uses it, that would be a plus for me I assume

Doing CC for anything other than cheap transfer credits.

Yeah enjoy paying Uni fees for 2 years of 101 coursework + housing you cuck.

yeah 'cause we know that's going to happen; seriously just how bitter are you? literally no other reason to shit on that dudes post as it should be taken as a positive

fucking retard

Check your privilege m8. Not srs
But it's awesome being white hispanic because I can play both cards
