Korea was a colony of Japan from 1910 to 1945, during this time Japan tried to replace Korean culture by Japanese culture. And bad things happened like the comfort women thing and others. Japan never really acknowledged all its crimes like Germany did so there are still some tensions between Japan and Korea from a diplomatic standpoint.
Anti Japanese and anti Korean movements are the useful idiots of governments in these countries. When you are a politician using populism to be elected you just need to say something provocative about this period. When done under the right circumstances, there will predictably be an outrage from one of these movement that will serve your interests.

But German country apologized and changed after that. German are probably among the most pacific people in Europe now. That's not entirely the case for Japan. Some very conservative Japanese people (and that's a huge part of their population) have a revisionist view of Korean colonisation.
When I went to Japan I stayed at a three star hotel (I make this precision so you understand it wasn't just a random shitty motel) and on the desk they had this book that they were also selling at the reception, that was about this history of Japan. In it they just call nankin rape and comfort women a myth.
What about your history textbooks ? In some school they are a joke.
