I grew up on classic Simpsons but I've never actually sat down and watched it all chronologically. Looking to change that. How many seasons do I watch before it becomes Zombie Simpsons?

somewhere between 8 and 11 depending on what you can tolerate, beyond that it's actually unbearable to watch

ok thank for respond

I looked up season 12 Simpsons to see if there are any worthwhile episodes. I started with the john swartzwelder episodes, because he's their goat.
>Simpsons go to africa
>Simpsons splits into two area codes and meets the who

These were my idealized episodes of 'nu-simpsons' , i can only imagine what they're putting out today

10 is the tail end of good simpsons, cracks start to show in 9. .

>feed and seed
i don't get it

s11e05 is a good episode to end

stop at Sneason 10 (formerly Chucks)

The episode that ClassicFags REEEEEEE over is "The Principle and the Pauper" because Skinner is revealed to be some guy called Armin Tamzarian and it undoes the """"""character development""""" of the first few seasons.

It isn't the funniest of episodes and it is more so just about this guy.

Stop with season 11's "behind the music" parody
It was a good ending for the series

Sneed's Feed & Seed

formerly Chuck's Feed & Seed

A Chuck falls in love with a Sneed.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the man's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the male, he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the boy he called is not the same boy he fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is the bear's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the male's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of FEEDS and SEEDS.

How would a phone cross dimensional barriers

stop when you feel it just isn't as funny anymore
1-8 are all great, 9 is still good for the most part, 10 starts to feel kinda tired already
not really worth your time past that

Keit-Ai finds a way.

Already a thing.

Stop on the episode where Homer meets Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger in the woods.
It's like season 9 or something.

That episode is literally the exact moment it turns into Zombie Simpsons.

That is legit a great episode.

The whole point of the episode was satire making fun of fans who read too much into the show. Essentially making fun of the same people who think it's a bad episode.
The whole thing was tongue in cheek but of course plebs didn't get the joke that it was directed at themselves.

I'd say 8 is where you'll notice it's running out of steam. 3 is where Simpsons has found its voice since the sometimes clunky seasons 1 and 2. Work your way up to 8 and if you still enjoy it, keep going - otherwise go back to season 1 and 2.

8-11 is the cut-off point depending on what exactly you want to get out of a show like the simpsons. 11-12 is the point where the seasons have more bad ideas/episodes than good ones

somewhere in season 7 or 8

Mods, the kind of control you're attempting simply is... it's not possible. If there is one thing the history of this board has taught us it's that Keit-ai will not be contained.

Keit-ai breaks free, it spams to new threads and crashes through topics, painfully, maybe even dangerously, but, uh... well, there it is.

I'm, I'm simply saying that Keit-ai, uh... finds a way.

vocaroo.com/i/s0vxkutwSMab

Last time I rewatched the show. I got as far as season 10's "When you dish upon a star", that's the first celebrity centric episode that hasn't aged well.

Newest episode I saw was about Homer and Flanders becoming bounty hunters and the climax of the episode consisted of a Homer/Flanders chase that reminded me of the Family Guy chicken fight scenes. That was nine years ago.

>cont
That's the one.

I don't get the joke in your image, OP.

Lmfao

Season 10 is when the cracks are really shown to be evident.

You can see them somewhat forming by season 7, but by season 10, it's already shifted.

ok Sup Forums are you a Chuck or a Sneed?

my own opinion, the show is still solid all the way to season 16.

I'd watch up to season 11. After that it becomes horrible.

It's a shame I watched a new episode recently and at it's heart it had a great idea for a classic episode but it was poorly executed.

It was about Bart getting a sadistic replacement teacher. That could have been a classic episode of Bart wrestling with someone better at annoying people than him but it ended up as trash.

I was a Chuck but now I'm a Sneed.

Sneed all day everyday, Chucklefuck cucks can get wrecked.

The quality starts to slide at season 8 but I would say that it's worth it to continue to the end of season 11 because there is still some good content, but mostly because Behind the Laughter serves as an amazing 'series finale' before it all goes to hell

inb4 404

10-12 is where it goes downhill, but there are still some good episodes. 13 is where it falls off a cliff. I think it's around season 15 or 16 when it turns into celebrity guest star of the week.

when maude dies is about as far as i can usually take it before it just turns to total shit.

This.

reminder, sneed poster is an underage spammer

is this a hot new sneed meme

>the simpsons meets [celebrity]
>[character] becomes [occupation/subculture]
>simpsons go to [place]
It's sad how many new simpsons episodes fall into these 3 categories

what a dumbfucking weak attempt at rationalizing how bad the episode was and how much of a break of pace it had been when it came out.

Sneed.

Nice digits, based sneedbro.

I can't believe my little Sneed is formerly Chuck

season 1: show finding its way
seasons 2-7: golden age
season 8-12: starts to get worse every season. depending on your standards you may want to stop after season 8 or at any point in this era
season 13 onwards: garbage

the great sneedening is upon us

i hated that episode as a kid because it was boring as shit, had no jokes, and centered around the most boring adult character in the show.
aside from that, i stopped watching new episodes of the simpsons when i saw the first-run of that episode where home plays marriage counselor to some baseball guy and his wife. what kid wants to watch that crap?

The previous establishment's name was only "Chuck's", no feeding or seeding

Just some Chucklefuck trying to create the next epic meme like Dullest Franchise pasta for Harry Potter.

based Sneedposter

No it's this fucking loser that made a screengrab of his own value-free post and sits waiting for simpsons threads so he can post the time he fell for b8 so hard he became the worst user on the whole site.

...

Why are the early seasons so comfy to watch? Is it the art style?

>How long should I like this show before I'm supposed to think it's bad?

Jesus fucking Christ you're pathetic. Stop letting other people dictate your opinions. Just stop watching when you've had enough. Is it really that hard to form your own opinion?

Chucks fuck and suck

That's The Dip. There is a dip in quality where it gets truly abysmal and difficult to watch, like your best friend turned into a zombie or alcholic or something. Later on, say around season 16, the quality comes back up a bit, but never to it's original heights. So it's like your alcoholic friend went into recovery and now he doesn't drink anymore but he's an annoying twat to be around but you can still be friends.

Season 10 is the cutoff, give or take a season according to taste.

From there to about season 14 there'll still be some sparse episodes that are worth your time. Look up recommendations online and watch the salvageable ones individually.

The remaining 14 seasons have no redeeming qualities whatsoever and exist solely to keep the show in the public's mind. The money Fox makes off consistently relevant Simpsons merchandise is an enormous, self-justifying fortune, so they'll continue to wasting money on that unwatchable, critical sinkhole of a time slot each week for the foreseeable future.

>tfw there have been far more bad episodes than good episodes for years
>tfw The Simpsons is therefor an objectively bad show

Didn't the Simpsons just have their lowest ever ratings and reviews for a season this year? Wonder if Fox will do anything to help the quality.

They just fired the guy that did their music

Enjoy this forced meme while you can because it's already dying out.

youtube.com/watch?v=vifYelSTlMo

They're in that sweet spot where the animation quality is fine, but warmly imperfect. It's also a generally wholesome show, despite the cynicism.
youtube.com/watch?v=FCb3rblTEds

I think people are generally trying to spare themselves seeing the show shit the bed so hard when they ask that question, you sperg. He also might have to actually pay to see those seasons, and I too would be pissed if I wasted money on a bad batch of episodes.

simpsons is bad forever now
read

Season 4 animation is fucking comfy.

Season 3 is probably the most comfy though.

I tend to stop watch after "Behind the Laughter"

Why does this keep getting posted in Simpsons threads? Is this another element of the Sneed meme, or does the poster legitimately think this is good proof that Sneedposters are underage?

If you think you're changing people's perceptions on Sneedposting then you're a fucking retard. I hate the Sneed meme, but you somehow manage to look even stupider than them.

It's funny because THAT Christmas episode from a couple years back is the closest thing we've had to a real throwback to the golden era, and that includes the decent-at-best movie.

Also, I guess the Futurama crossover is not that bad (at least is watchable), but that FG crossover is nothing short of a hellspawn.

peaks at 6-7 and falls below season 1 quality at about season 9. that's just the number sthough, in my re-watch last summer i dropped it three quarters of the way through season 10. sure the episodes are still fine, but it's painful when just a couple weeks ago you were watching some amazing episodes.

That's not the border between good and bad, it's just one that exemplifies why latter simpsons isn't as good.

Op these anons are correct
I would say the exact same. 8 is a great season, there's some quality ones in 9, and 10 and 11 is really hit-and-miss with lots of cringe and the zombie Simpsons start to show up, but 12 it's nearly unwatchable.

I will say that there are some good jokes in the last few seasons - but very few, and not worth the time to sift through them, imo

When you start seeing celebrity cameos frequently and Homer becomes 100% mentally retarded. Somewhere around season 7. I can tolerate the episodes up until about 2001 because I was a kid when I was watching them but if you sit down and watch seasons 1-5 you can notice some dips at 6 and there will be a point where you go "So THIS is what everyone's talking about when they say it turns into garbage".

Although I like the episode, the Frank Grimes one was definitely a watershed moment.

>That outlier in season 27

What ep was that? Was it legitimately good? That's like monorail quality according to the graph...

Sneed version of Dullest Franchise pasta in every Harry Potter thread.

barthood. i might have to check it out too.

Fuck imdb.

Hmm I heard about that one. I will check it out too

oh jesus, i didn't realize it was an homage to boyhood. just goes to show how easily people can be manipulated into thinking something is of high quality. i guess that's why you shouldn't take numbers at face value...

Are there ANY good episodes in the newest seasons? If yes which one(s)?

Barthood.

Steal This Episode

which christmas ep

youtube.com/watch?v=KqFNbCcyFkk

watch that vid, but watch how the writing staff changes over time at 19:56

that video was very disappointing. i get that you need to explain the context of the early simpsons to explain it's downfall, but the dude spends 2/3 of the video lamenting about how good early simpsons was and only briefly explains it's downfall. I was hoping, with that title, he would get a little more indepth into exactly how it became as bad as it is.

>When no one replies to your post so you shill it to other users
I'm beggin ya

Leave the house

I'm downloading all 28 seasons right now and am going to binge watch it. I'll get back to you in a couple weeks when I'm done but for now I'd say sometime after season 11.

Does anyone happen to know:

1. When the animation switched to completely Korean made? Or the first episode to change the intro animation was?

2. The first instance of consecutive guest focused shows (at least two in a row) after season 10?

I know there is a lot of hate after S10, but ive been watching 11-15 lately and there are definitely still some good episodes sprinkled throughout.. or at least some episodes that had 1-2 legit funny moments. As soon as the animation style changed and the episodes became guest celebrity focused is the absolute bottom of the barrel for me.

When you didn't think The Simpsons could possibly get any worse, they fire Alf Clausen. Fuck you Richard Sakai.

avclub.com/longtime-composer-alf-clausen-has-been-fired-from-the-s-1798639971

The episode where Homer crashes into the house of the hollywood literally whos is the final straw.
