Why Washington didn't become a king?
Why Washington didn't become a king?
His allegiance was to the republic, to democracy.
The whole point of our revolution was not to be ruled by a monarchy. It's the same reason why our presidents have term limits
Washington didn't even want to be president, we still made him lol. And when it was time to pick a place for a capital we built a city named after him too
From my point of view the republic is evil!
Term limits were not made until FDR died, dumbfuck
not gonna lie he looks kinda badass
his boyfriend was from Poland-Lithuania, he thought so too
Because he was a wh*toid and only blacks can be kangz.
Every european monarch was black too.
>Washington didn't even want to be president, we still made him lol. And when it was time to pick a place for a capital we built a city named after him too
Pretty much this. He didn't want to run the country nevermind be a king.
even when we were white we were saying "whiter than you Mohammed" since the beginning.

He wasn't a homo.
Didn't you put some guy that didn't like bank notes on a bank note, too? You guys had some top tier bants with the founding fathers.
You really are a stupid amerishart
>>Russians
>>Swedes

To be fair some citizens of the Russian Empire were pretty swarthy.
Larping as the Roman republic
>Didn't you put some guy that didn't like bank notes on a bank note, too? You guys had some top tier bants with the founding fathers.
Yeah Jackson but people are butt hurt because he was an Indian fighter on the frontier and sent the Cherokee west.
Not only did he refuse to be king, but he also decided that he would not serve more than two terms, setting a precedent that was followed until FDR became a dictator and then they had to explicitly put it in the Constitution.
Because your "revolution" was made against England and not against monarchy itself?
If he had become king america might today be free of dolan drumf
Washington did want to be president. he ran for election against (iirc) 10-15 other guys, including John Adams, who very much did want to be president also, and got about half as many electoral votes as Washinton. Washington's shtick was to present himself as extremely humble, but to also slyly have his friends brag about his great accomplishments for him. he was a huge publicity hound as a military man before the revolution. He liked being popular, and was exceptionally popular, which is probably why he didn't like being president, cause the president always gets shat on by at least half of the people.

He ran unopposed both times
no he didn't. he got all of the electoral votes, because of the "winner take all" system, if you win the majority of a states votes, you get all of them. that's probably why you're confused.
He's just plain wrong. The colonists weren't always explicit republicans and most of their grievances lay with parliament, not the king.
Which one do you prefer: living the rest of your life servicing the nation or spend four years then live the rest of your life as a comfy aristocrat?
Probably because he couldn't get away with it even if he wanted. Keep in mind that this is around the time Paine wrote "Common Sense" in which he argued America should be a republic even if the British gave them representation in the house of commons. Making himself king would perhaps be strictly possible but also highly unpopular.
I know that Britanon, bust most americans are brainwashed to be anti-monarchists.
People voted for electors that were either Federalist or Anti-Federalist. Electors cast two votes. This means every single one of both the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist electors cast one of their votes for Washington. In essence, there was a unanimous vote that Washington would be president and the election was to decide the Vice President.
Because being a king would be too weak. The presidency was and still is more powerful than the offices of king and prime minister combined.
Also he had no biological children so what's the point?
Americans were goblinos all along.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Not that guy, but term limits were a known, but unwritten informal code of honor from Washington's day.
