I don't think we should criticise the poor ability of women to make a decent film, or better yet, a decent character. You have to understand that women aren't realistic in anyway. Wonder Woman is perfect, and that to women, is the ideal status of their sacred fantasies. This. Cameron's not the kind of guy who would apologize because someone wrote a two paragraph editorial telling him to.

And Cameron may have been kind of clunky about phrasing, but he was completely right. Jenkins made an incredibly mediocre movie that its studio decided to cynically attach political marketing to as a way of generating hype and getting positive reviews. It made no real positive statements about women, and heaping praise on it for merely being directed by, and starring, a woman is a giant step backwards.

I just watched it the other night. The beginning is just boring, the whole first act up to where they leave paradise island.
It is poorly directed and edited on the whole, there is not a single action scene which does not frequently alternate between normal and slow motion in a very distracting manner for seemingly no reason at all.
To say that slow motion is overused in this film is a drastic understatement, it's borderline farcical.
Stupid music.
The premise that Wonder Woman finally achieved the victory against the baddies due to being inspired by the love of a man/humanity.
The casting of Wonder Woman herself, personal taste maybe but she is scrawny, her face looks weird with the hair tied back (it is for half the movie) and the accent is not exactly music to the ears.
It is a terrible film, it's just awful. If I had seen it in a theatre I would've walked out in the first 20 minutes, it really fails to capture early attention.
Fucking 1/10 I guess for spending all that money and explosions and shit.

The action scenes in WW were probably the worst I've ever seen in a big-budget movie. Many of them are so poorly choreographed that it's almost laughable, because you can tell the actors don't really know what they're doing. Probably the funniest thing I remember from the movie was Ares magically getting a helmet that hides his face right before a fight scene. It's so obvious that they just had a stuntman do everything instead of Thewlis and just covered his face to try to fool people.

That's basically what Cameron said. And the response I've heard from women I know (and what Jenkins seems to be getting it) is that it's comparable to what men usually get with action heroes. That's a perfectly valid point, but it also has nothing to do with what Cameron was saying. There's nothing wrong with women wanting a perfect action hero fantasy character they can project themselves onto (like men get with Captain America, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or plenty of other characters), the issue was with critics calling it a step forward in representation and saying Wonder Woman was a good character. She isn't, she's an objectified fantasy character, and there's no reason to apologize for pointing that out.

She's the avatar of another god iirc. Cheetah has super strength, super agility and enhanced senses. She's the main villain because it was one of wonder woman's friends.
