How has your day been /who/?

Thread theme: youtu.be/gImcsvtASQc

Good, was Father's Day over here so had a day with the f a m. How was yours?

Pretty sick but I've finally got a VK account up and running, which is great because my GPU on my PC died and my ISP is now blocking audiobookbay, so I can listen to audios easily now. I've got a bad cold, I also woke up after 5 hours of sleep just to mishear the news and think North Korea actually nuked Japan and was a bit spooked . However, audio joy sort of balances it out

Toast to the new thread!

Okay, mostly. I haven't slept yet and it's too late to do so now, so I've thoroughly fucked up my sleep schedule again. Now it's time to un-fuck it by suffering without sleep for the rest of the day.

>not everything is either 100% platonic or 100% romantic
True enough. I probably should've worded what I said better. I've always interpreted 12/Clara as something deeper than friendship, almost, but not exactly romantic enough to be physical. Something much more complex than that. But the reason I talk about it in terms of "one or the other" is because that's what a lot of the fans seem to think it has to be. Those in favour of a strictly romantic interpretation seem to outright reject any notion of it being platonic, and vice versa. In reality, it's a complicated and confusing, but ultimately very sweet (even if, in the end, unhealthy) friendship. Such is the case with most of the Doctor's companions, really. He loves them all and he loves them deeply, and it goes far beyond the realms of classification on any sort of human terms. Sometimes the relationships can delve into a more traditionally romantic sort of thing - with all the physicality that often entails - and sometimes it's just comfortably platonic. And sometimes some relationships just sit quietly between, without a name for themselves. It's at the very least guaranteed for there to be the usual level of trust, and love, and mutual care, regardless of whatever the relationship may be identified as.

>I hadn't even thought of that. Naive of me.
On the other hand, you could say that not recognising the potential controversy speaks rather well of you. Proof of an open-mind, I suppose.

My tooth has been hurting like fuck but I don't have dental insurance so I can't really do anything.

Also still want it to be Christmas already.

A day without sleep but more McGann pics is a day well spent, you using tea or coffee or something else to help you through the day?

Just moved into my university accommodation, there's no WiFi, I've a cold and a headache and I'm watching a VHS rip of Shada. So I could be better.

Oh you worked out the phone number thing? Used a friend's? Nice! VK is such a damn good resource for Who stuff.

Western media hypes up the shock and fear factor of a lot of NK stuff more than is really sensible. Should see how SK reports it - vastly milder, and a lot more founded in the actual geopolitics of what's going on. But fear and shock sells. Not trying to say the NK stuff isn't serious and a real problem, because of course it is, just that you can't expect western coverage to be anything but fearmongering.

A toast!

I know how annoying it is to constantly sabotage your own sleep like that, I'm the exact same. I wish you happier snoozes, but in a weird way it's kinda reassuring to see someone else is as shit as regulating their sleeping as me, lol.

> I've always interpreted 12/Clara as something deeper than friendship, almost, but not exactly romantic enough to be physical. Something much more complex than that
Yuppers. That's not a simple relationship though so I get why a lot of people don't take it that way I guess.

That sucks user :( A moment of silence for your fang.

Brave heart user

same user, hope your tooth gets better soon

Yeah, I used a mate's phone number, now I'm just trying to find a good VK download tool, but I can live without for now if there aren't any.

You're right about the NK stuff just a pretty shit thing to wake up to, especially considering what I misheard it as.

Is there still time to submit a fic for Shit Trips?

awful

Get well soon user. Do you at least like the room, I'm slowly convincing someone I know who just got into his uni accommodation to get doctor who bed sheets

RIP, what's up? Anything who you can watch to cheer up?

Thanks Neo. How's you this morning? I haven't felt this good mentally in a while, such a contrast to last weekend.

Thanks user, it really sucks right now.

>now I'm just trying to find a good VK download tool, but I can live without for now if there aren't any.
Me and McGanon were talking about that a few threads back, a lot of the extensions are fucked at the moment for some reason,

Apparently "VK Music Download - Save Vkontakte audio" works but I haven't used it so I can't vouch for it

And yeah I've woken up and deliriously misinterpreted news and got freaked before, it's a shitty thing, I feel ya

I had many a fun time underneath Doctor Who sheets back in the day

I'm not sure what the timeline is now, have you got one in mind?

Sadly, I don't drink tea or coffee, so I have to get through on sheer willpower alone.

If I don't have anything forcing me to be awake on a set schedule, I'll always gravitate towards the same shitty sleep patterns. It's a nightmare at times, but I survive.

What you've got to do, user, is hurt *another* tooth, so you forget about the pain in the original one. For real, though, hope it somehow gets better soon. Toothache is a horrible, horrible thing.

Are you living on campus, or elsewhere? Also, wrap up warm! Make sure to get plenty of fluids, too. Dehydration can make a headache ten times worse.

I want to say yes, but I feel as though it'd be cutting it fine. You'd really have to ask Immigrant when he pops up - he's the only one that has a solid idea of what's going on with shit trips at the moment.

>implying /who/ was ever redeemable in the first place

>doesn't drink tea or coffee
you poor lost soul, your will must be insanely strong to survive

I'm good good, but it's night here, I'll probably go to sleep in an hour or two (or three...)

That's awesome you're feeling more good mentally (if I'm reading you right), way to go mang

>still hasn't made a better spongegar meme than mine

>Sadly, I don't drink tea or coffee
Ooh, any intriguing backstory as to why? Or just a matter of taste? And yeah the schedule thing is the rub, I can right myself when I have to, but when I don't have to...goodbye waking world

Should have seen it back in the days of prog, or back when M 0 ngo was literally threatening to kill Cloister and Cats

I summon the user who hates Immigrant.

It's not one user, I've seen multiple IPs argue with him, and some are actually making their points level-headedly.

inb4 "durrr ur one of them", I like Immigrant, love Shit Trips, and am sympathetic to his issues, but not replying to anons when they bring up valid points is bad (fortunately he usually replies when someone points that out. I find it hard to really dislike him or judge him for it as I'm pretty sure he's just like 18 anyway)

I don't know if it feels any better when you've had caffeine, but when I'm doing these hard-reset days... Well, I can easily see why they use sleep deprivation as a method of torture.

>Ooh, any intriguing backstory as to why?
Yeah, it's the deepest tea lore you can get. Nah, I just really hate the taste of both the drinks. I feel like the Doctor would be mildly disappointed in me for that, but alas.

I just wanted to know how his day was, I find him very interesting as a person.

I had a pretty dirty fic idea with 13, yeah.

What do you mean as an example? I'm curious now.

I know some people just chew caffeine pills for the boost but damn, kinda seems sad and dehumanising to me. Then again, if it works for them, it works for them.

>Nah, I just really hate the taste of both the drinks
I'm not really a tea guy, I love black coffee though. Even cold.
What do you like to drink? Room temperature water? Goat's milk? Lime juice?

Hey...r n you almost remind me of...
Were you around in preS10 threads earlier this year? Particularly in threads after they hit post limit?
If that means nothing to you, disregard :)

How long you reckon it'd take ya to write it?

what are you asking for exactly, sorry? Don't quite understand what youre after

Nah, I only got into these threads right around the end of S10.

Few days if I'm feeling up to it. Was planning on writing it anyway so I got the ideas all laid out.

>What do you like to drink? Room temperature water? Goat's milk? Lime juice?
The blood of my enemies. What, too cliché? I thought as much. But, usually water or lemonade, and that's pretty much it really.

Immigrant replying to anons with valid points.

Well I'm pretty sure Shit Trips was originally gonna come out like 2 days ago and is still on track to be out like, pretty damn soon (correct me Immigrant if I'm wrong), but regardless of that I think you should write it and post it here anyway, shit trips or otherwise!

What is lemonade over in your corner of the world? Lemonade is a completely different thing in America than here, has lead to a lot of confusions when I try and chat lemonade with yanks.

It's fizzy, and it... tastes like lemons, except sweeter. I usually drink either 7 Up Free (which I've been told isn't "real" lemonade, but whatever!) or some good ol' Tesco-brand cloudy lemonade, which I'd imagine is probably a bit closer to the American version of the drink, except carbonated.

Itching to see 13 in a dirty situation, are we, Neo? You cheeky boi

this one i guess ? could plum the archives

Any of you guys drink this holy nectar?
I just started having the co-op's cloudy lemonade when I get their meal deal, it's actually really nice, been walking through the park to get to one near my house since the one down the road is closed for building work. Anyway, cloudy lemonade in the park on a sunny day with doctor who audios is the very definition of comfy

Speaking of Tescos what the heck is up with ironing water and why do the English think it's a good idea.

Ha, not really my thing (trust me), but don't wanna see an user quash their creative endeavours

Nope, what's it like?

pic related is ours. Not very lemony. More like Sprite. Sounds similar to your deal. Lemon/pub squash here is very lemony though.
Relevant: I've a lemon tree with a tonne of lemons a t m so I'm pretty overdosed on lemons

I think I might've tried that brand before, but I'm not too sure. I remember obnoxiously yellow packaging like that, at least. Also, yeah that does sound comfy as hell. Soon, my equivalent will be sitting sadly on a bus listening to audios, without any lemonade at all.

I'm not English myself, but I know why that exists! It's to do with the fact that England has "hard water" - a.k.a. water with a high mineral content, and over time those minerals can be deposited and solidify on things like shower-heads and taps and, of course, inside irons. I'd imagine that ironing water is to prevent that from happening and destroying your iron. (Up in Scotland, we have the opposite, "soft water" - a low mineral content, so we don't need things like that or limescale-specific cleaning supplies 'cus we just don't get any build-up at all.)

I don't think I could ever get sick of lemonades. Or, not lemonade, anyways. I mean, I drink it a lot, but I still do sometimes branch out into other stuff. My mum takes it a step further than me and just straight-up doesn't drink anything except Pepsi Max. Not even water. It's... strange, but she seems to enjoy herself.

Sweet but very strong, doesn't taste so good lukewarm but it tastes great cold (which is what it'll be in most places you can buy it), it's an insane amount for a single can like 1 quid but you can get a six pack for like 3 to 4 quid which is a pretty good deal. Wetherspoons also have it in their burger deal for like 50p, just saying cos I don't drink I end up drinking it often when out with friends.
The worst fate is on packed buses which are so loud you don't get to hear the audio. I'm lucky, my trip back from uni I can take the tube OR the DLR and the DLR is comfy as heck for audios and I can just walk home in like half an hour from the train station.

Mah nigga, I also get the Limonata with Co-Op's Meal Deal. What's your main and snack? When it comes to sandwiches it's gotta be the Mayo Chicken & Bacon for me with a packet of crisps to put in it as well, typically Smoky Bacon but I also like making Doritos sandwiches.

>sitting sadly on a bus
>packed buses which are so loud

Gah I hate buses, I used to be able to just walk to school which was nice, then in years later take the train into uni which was eh fine, but sometimes the train would get abruptly cancelled for whatever reason, and I'd have to slog the 25min walk from the train station end of the campus to the bus station end and eughrrr then the bus ride would be so slow and shit and just the worst, especially cause this would typically be at night with a loud and packed annoying bus.

For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

The McChicken is my favorite to have at Sneed's Feed and Seed too.

Ok so I vary between my first meal deal love, chicken and stuffing and sometimes ready salted crisps or cheese and onion mccoy's crisps OR if I want something fresh tasting, chicken salad and the mccocys crisps. I don't normally put them in the sandwich, just bite and then grab a crisp

>mccocys
I'm an idiot

>unrelated paul pics so the world is fooled into thinking we still discuss doctor who on /who/

>cant get sick of lemonades OR lemonades
i meant lemons the first time, fuck

>The worst fate is on packed buses which are so loud you don't get to hear the audio.
That's my biggest fear, but the bus is usually pretty quiet around the times I get it to/from uni. Either it's in the morning and everyone's tired as fuck and can't be bothered speaking, or it's in the middle of the day and nobody's on the bus in the first place. Might have to get the train back home a few times this semester, though, and I'm nervous on trains so I probably won't feel comfy listening to audios on there until I'm a bit more used to the whole... process, I guess. I get too scared that I'll be focused intently on the audio and miss my stop.

Also, I know the pain with the long distances to get to the bus station. It's not quite as long as 25mins, but I need to walk all the way to the subway, get on that, then get off after a few stops, then walk aaall the way to the bus station itself. Kinda tiring, but I'm used to it by now.

My knowledge has increased, thank you.

I never had lemonade

No problem! Always happy to share random, pointless facts.

You should get some and try it! It's nice. Or, it should be, if you get a good brand.

Have you ever made your own lemonade with fresh lemons? It's amazing.

Oh yeah, I can get sick of lemonade (not a huge sugary stuff drinker in general) but not lemons themselves, they're v versatile and tasty in so many things.

>or it's in the middle of the day and nobody's on the bus in the first place
peak comfy commute time

>I get too scared that I'll be focused intently on the audio and miss my stop.
You'll be a natural in no time, don't worry!

What else do you put in it other than lemons themselves? I have a fuck tonne of lemons I can use

Pls. TK Red lemonade is the best beverage ever

Used to when I was a kid,

Maybe someday. The closest I get to lemonade is water with a slice of lemon in it, and lemon-flavored iced tea.

Try some mint.

>What else do you put in it other than lemons themselves? I have a fuck tonne of lemons I can use

Just sugar, water, and lemon juice. There's ton a recipes online, but I'd recommend having less sugar and more lemons. But I love sour lemonade and hate sugary lemonade.

(Spoiler)Adding vodka is also pretty good. Or iced tea(/spoiler)

>But I love sour lemonade and hate sugary lemonade
Me too, so I'll follow your tips, including the one about vodka! Thanks!

comfy /who/ sharing lemonade tips

I really ought to buy some lemons and try to make some soon, t b h.

Peak comfy commute time can only be improved upon when it's said time, but during summer, when the sun's shining and there's a light breeze coming in through the windows. too bad uni terms are exclusively in the winter months reeee

My uni semesters in winter were annoying cause of cold wind and all that (I'm sure it wouldn't count as cold to most of you lot overseas though), but summer was worse because the train station was literally next to a big swamp, and the mosquitoes were vicious, greedy, bloodthirsty beasts.

Ugh, mosquitoes. I'm glad we don't have them in Scotland - at least, not in any significant presence, if at all. It'd be a nightmare otherwise. I hate wasps enough, I don't think I could stand mosquitoes too.

I'm kinda sad winter's approaching now, 'cus it's gonna get cold, and I hate the cold when I have to be out in it every day at like 5am. So windy and damp and horrible. Oddly enough, though, I'm pretty excited about having all these audios to listen to, it'll give me something to focus on other than how freezing I am while I'm walking to class.

thanks briggs

Anyone fancy watching anything?

I like the cold, IDK the summer's cool but I love the winter period and often find the cold sort of enjoyable, if I wrap up warm enough. I haven't got my timetable yet but I'll probably be out mainly in the afternoon, and likely never before 9AM

I love nearly all animals so much but I just can't with most bugs, they're such killkoys.

Today was the first proper warm day here for a fair while, which was very nice, but yeah, that means plenty on the other side are plunging into the dark and cold now. Cold mornings are the worst! I bet the wind is an absolute nightmare over your end.

I'm sure the audios comforting you would warm even Briggs' Coldheart.

I can be intermittently in and out of a stream for a little while

I really want to try and overcome not liking the cold, cause there's so many places I want to go that are cold

I'm down for some Christmas specials.

>Hey, Iain. Doesn't this look a bit too much like a porn cover?
>Nah, keep it.

the madman

I feel my strength beginning to fade already and it's only 5pm. I don't know how much longer I can go without sleep.

Summer never gets too warm here, it's always a perfect sort of temperature, so I like it better than winter. When it's cold here, it's really fucking cold, and the wind and the rain just make things miserable no matter how much you wrap up. Too many mornings have I ended up in class at 9am, soaked through and shivering. Can't even use an umbrella cus the wind is too strong. I admit, it's not fun.

I love animals too - guess that's kind of a given when I'm studying zoology - and I find bugs fascinating, but I'd like to avoid them wandering over me where possible, particularly if they can bite or sting.

Do you have a particular affinity for butterflies?

Gonna be putting every Christmas specials excluding TEOT and TOTD, and Capaldis (Will keep looking for these if anyone desperately wants 'em, though) ones on /casualwhostream/ shortly

Come get comfy, post gifs, you know the drill.

>staring blankly at the screen for the entirety of it
h-how?

>tfw the butterfly room isn't real
But yes, actually. I really like butterflies - I wouldn't mind having them crawling on me, they're very gentle.

I'll join in a little bit, gotta wander around then go for a shower so I don't fall asleep at my keyboard.

By the time you get back I daresay we'll be at The Runaway Bride.

Godspeed user

Will be streaming at Twenty past the hour folks.

>t f w the Master I was most familiar with when this moment happened was Eric Roberts

yana wasn't even drezzzzed for the occasion!

I'll be missing out on The Christmas Invasion then? That's alright, that ep is kinda poopoo from what I can remember.

I was exactly the same, Neo.

Goosnek Master a besto.

>I was 8 when this episode came out

Dumb question. Where does /who/ stream at?

cytu
.be/r/casualwhostream

There are dozens of us!

>tardisposting

Sesska tends not to react as explosively as other channels do.

She also had no idea who the Master was and so couldn't really be surprised or excited. She had none of the hype before the episode or the discussion afterwards to get herself excited for it.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of these guys?

A spongegar could convince me to

Sesska is a little apathetic to 10's era, she's much more responsive to 11's and cries at nearly every damn episode.

Paul is literally /ourguy/

Is he still ranting about Ian, or is this in response to something else?

the finale

>The Soviet Union was full of crap like this
Whoa, really?

Just marathoned The Last Post
What was I in for? Did I like it?
Well I knew that I had about an hours drive and narration based are easier to listen to so went for a Companion Chronicle.
Checked the wiki for a good rec that I hadn't heard before.
The Last Post with a score of 9/10 looked promising. Write up on Big Finish seems interesting.
People are dying after receiving a prophesying letter. Woah! a mystery! Fantastic.
The Story starts with Liz talking to her mum about i can't remember. the letters probably. Liz mentions that they're dealing with living plastic and that the Doctor is still getting used to his face indicating that this takes place at about the same time as Spearhead from Space.

Now. I haven't listened to many Companion Chronicles but the ones I have are a companion talking us through the story. Either as a memory or just being narrator.
But this one?
no no no
Boring letters between Liz and her mum for the whole of the first episode (and some of the second episode)
I don't want to hear you reading a letter for 3 minutes and then hear someone else read their reply for another 4. Put that shit in a book!
There was absolutely nothing to grab onto and the first episode was wasted on half waiting for the plot to move on and half whatever Liz's boring mum was talking about.

The second episode was a lot better with Liz telling us what was happening as it was happening with more dynamic voices and provided a good enough conclusion. Although by the end of the episode, I didn’t have enough energy to pay attention to the story And the rain and road were noisy.

All in all it was a good story in the end that probably looked better on paper (in both senses) but it does not deserve the 9 rating.

>I don't want to hear you reading a letter for 3 minutes and then hear someone else read their reply for another 4. Put that shit in a book!
You mean like an audiobook?

Big Finish are more than audiobooks. They're Audio Dramas, Productions.
In fact I doubt very many audiobooks are just recitals of memoirs and letters being sent back and forth.

Trinity Wells was an American newsreader. She reported several alien encounters for an American news network known as "AMNN".

Based on her Zodiac sign, Leo, she was born in July or August. In 2009, Wells was briefly taken over when Martin Trueman (possessed by the Ancient Lights) invoked Leo into his circle. (TV: Secrets of the Stars)

During Christmas 2009, she was covering a speech by Barack Obama during which he was supposed to reveal his financial plan to battle a worldwide economic recession. Along with Obama and the rest of the human race, Wells was temporarily transformed into a duplicate of the Master during the speech. (TV: The End of Time)

The Eleventh Doctor once mentioned never having met Wells in person, but knew that whenever he saw her on the news it was a sure sign there was trouble. (PROSE: The Forgotten Army)

Trinity Wells is one of only two characters, as well as the only named character, to have appeared in Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The other one is the French newsreader, played by Anthony Debaeck.

Apart from the Tenth Doctor, she is the only other character to have appeared in all of the first four series of Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010.

Russell T Davies revealed in Doctor Who Confidential that he had originally planned for the Doctor to meet Trinity Wells in the special, but the scene was cut. In Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale, a full script for the scene can be read (in which Trinity reports of the destruction of Broadfell Prison and gives the Doctor information on Joshua Naismith). The reason for the scene being cut, as given in the book, is that Davies considered it to be "indulgent, and also shit."

>The reason for the scene being cut, as given in the book, is that Davies considered it to be "indulgent, and also shit."
but tennant's shitty farewell walk was perfectly fine? rusty's (lack of) logic is astounding

She should've showed up in Class.

This place is far too friendly these days. It's weird. We're supposed to be at each other's throats and telling each other to go off and get fucked by our brothers, remember?
