Plane, Patrick is unreliable in his narration and was only focused on being noticed and himself. Bane however was ahead of the curve on everyone. He knew that CIA would take him and the others because he wanted information, Bane knew this and exploited this. Bane also planned ahead on gotham in every way. He knew from the moment he got on that plane every move that would happen. He even planned for batman fighting him in the sewer and chose his lair because it was under the wayne warehouse. The plane scene is superior because it shows how pre-paired bane actually is.
