Currently I'm talking with a couple of acquaintances of mine about moving together to a more central area of Oslo. That would be pretty sweet to get that apartement, as my commuting time would be half of what it is today, even though the rent would be 1000kr more of what it is today.

What's new with you, user?

Essentially you can get two types of undergraduate degrees in the US, Bachelors of Science(need to take additional science/math courses) or Bachelors of Arts (need to take more liberal arts/humanities courses)

why the fuck should I be forced to network with people just to get a job?
isn't me being good at something enough? why do I need to know other people to proof my competences

USA
College graduate, working at Wal-Mart while I try and commission into the military.

>why the fuck should I be forced to network with people just to get a job?

Because that's how society works. The only thing that ever makes anything valuable is its utility to other people. People are everything.

Nobody is "good at something" straight out of college, that's the issue. When you graduate your skill level will be somewhere sandwiched between "Bad" and "Bad, but trainable". They always, ALWAYS want someone who already knows what they're doing, and I faggot class about business theory is not actually a job SKILL.

Murca
Law student at a good school. I've sabotaged myself at every turn in my life so it is a miracle I've made it this far.

Socialising and keeping connection helps a lot because you might get refereed, recruited or told about open work places and news, maybe not now but can still help you later since you dont know who's gonna succeed later maybe they'll be the ones hiring you in a few years or climbing ranks.
I guess it can be looked out like family members hiring people within their own family or friends, people would rather hire/trust someone they know or are connected to rather than some stranger. Or tell you about job openings and get you in places you never thought you could or knew, having a strong social connection/charisma helps.
Im literally a games art student trying to finish off uni currently but i knew this chick in school who used to skip classes because she was more of an extrovert and stuff, managed to get a job in warner brothers and just downright stopped going/quit going to school because she landed an amazing job without even having to go to or grind for uni.
