Why is it okay for lego to use so many licenses from competing companies?

why is it okay for lego to use so many licenses from competing companies?

...

Why was it okay for toy story?

It's fucking Lego. Guaranteed $$$ from royalties.

>hey can we use some of your characters in our game?
>sure as long as we get a cut
and so it goes

Because none of those companies could possibly get an exclusive deal and they know it.

So they could either license their shit and get free money or not license their shit and get nothing.

this is intense. i love it.

LEGO is powerful enough to make it happen. Literally everyone wants to have their IP be a lego set.

>Alright, we have this super hot movie/cartoon, how do we get more money from it besides ads during the show?
>Toys!
>But who will make the toys? We don't have capacity for that in our own company
>How about Hasbro? Or Lego?
>Do both
And so shit loads of toys were made and Lego made lots of them and made LOADSAMONEY!

because a LEGO contract is basically free money for an IP holder.

Feel bad for Chris Tolkien, though.

It boggles my mind that gigantic asshole was apparently okay with Lego Lord of the Rings in the world but he won't option the movie rights out for the Silmarillion.

Did he give permission for Lego Lord of the Rings?

Think we'll get Disney?

Think they'll pull a Sega does and do Gravity Falls?

I'm sure there's a sound legal explanation but I like to think everyone just loves and appreciates lego, even corporations.

I played my nephew's today and it was fucking baller

Gravity Falls isn't relevant anymore

>implying he won't

Lego Ideas/Cuusoo rejected a fan's suggestion for a Street Fighter minifigure theme because it involves terrorists
Lego Ideas was a mistake

Is it bad that I'm more excited for the Gremlins figures than Sonic?

Now that Disney Infinity is gone. How long till we get Marvel IPS?

Why the fuck would sonic need a car?

Because a race is no fun if there's no challenge in it.

Better question is why won't Disney let their shit be used in crossover Lego stuff like Dimensions? They have Disney based Lego games and figs, but they won't let them crossover.

Fair competition.
