Well that's definitely not how it works with medicine in reference to drug use, recreational drug use is looked down on as it should be and drugs are only used if they have to be to save lives.
Meat is farmed because people have to eat to survive and need the nutritional benefits of meat and recreationally killing or abusing animals should be looked down on. I don't see any problems at all.
There are even grey areas in both situations, with drugs there are a few accepted "light" drugs in society and with animals slavery is accepted and widely practiced throughout society and is called keeping "pets" although treating the animals right is expected.
