When Scatman Crothers gets an axe to the chest

Room 237, easy.

The first scene of Room 237 with the door cracked open. So creepy.

The tub lady

Now, this is the storeroom.

ln here is where we keep all the dried goods and the canned goods.

We got canned fruits and vegetables. . .

. . .canned fish and meats, hot and cold cereals.

Post Toasties, Corn Flakes, Sugar Puffs. . .

. . .Rice Krispies, oatmeal, Wheatena and Cream of Wheat.

You got a dozen jugs of black molasses.

We got boxes of dried milk. . .

Get so hungry during this scene when the negro talks about the food

>white mans burden

what did he mean by this?

>WHITE MAN'S BURDEN LLOYD...WHITE MAN'S BURDEN
What the fuck did he mean by this?

The part where the guy's baby started crying.

same, imagine having a bed with comfy sheets in there and living off that stuff

Imagine, bringing a weeks worth of food to one room and laying in bed and stuffing your greasy cute fat pig mouth all day and shitting and pissing all in the bed and doing this all the time and changing beds/rooms once a week.

I always loved the scene where Scotsman Crothers and Danny talk. The way Danny just kind off blankly stares at him, the way he changes his attitude and the look on his face when Danny mentions room 237, it's all sublime, and it feels like the only time in the movie you're getting the whole picture

Whenever it does a shot of the room jack works in, its so asymmetrical and perfectly lit, it gets me everytime

Symmetrical* i dont know why i wrote asymmetrical

>Symmetrical
>no fireplace on right side

I swear this board always has a thread up for any film I watch on the day I watch it.
I love the bar scenes personally, Lloyd has such a creepy demeanour about him as they go on.

the scene with the mother and the kid playing in a snowy maze while werewolf jack is watching them with a crazy look.

>A nigger?

The way he says it and that face just makes me laugh every time.

I watched the shining for the first time the other night, and that entire scene unnerved me like nothing i've ever seen before, and then jack's answer to Wendy that he didn't see anything there just made it worse.

>Jack is suffering from writers block
>the right side of the brain is responsible for creativity
>the lamps on the right side of the room are the only lights not switched on

B R A V O

Wendy with the bat on the stairs
Jack is so mesmerizing and the tongue makes me tense-laugh every time

"all play and no work makes jack a dull boy"

That scene where Jack is in his bathrobe talking one on one with Danny always gives me the creeps the most.

this. rest of the movie sucked

This, yeah bro lol drive is so much better i mean like A E S T H E T I C S amirite. Dude old things suck

That scene reminds me when I had to spend the day with my dad.

Did you have a brain fart?

My favorite movie is from the 20s dude. I am exaggerating a little bit, it was a good movie but I don't consider it high art.

Well, it is high art wether you consider it to be or not, nigger.

>My favorite movie is from the 20s dude.

You are a cock sucking faggot.

The scene on the stairs where he rips Wendy a new one is epic.

and?

Not memeing here.
I legit want to know what this meant in the film in that scene what was the message?

THE NEW FACE OF THE KKK

GRADYPOSTING IS LOWKEY RAYCCIS AF

FUCKING DRUMPFSTERS NAZI SHITPOSTING IN CODE

Alcohol obviously

I love the formatting in your post.

wrong. see

The bathroom scene with Grady. The way it starts innocuous and slowly transitions through different levels of creepy is amazing. And the way Grady describes everything is just unnerving.

This. A lot of people treat the Native American commentary in the movie as a crazy fan theory, but there is seriously a lot of stuff in the movie that involves Native imagery, and it's mostly stuff that wouldn't be there if it wasn't intentional.

Thanks, that explains it

This. I would also recommend the image of Jack throwing the ball against the native american tapestry on the wall is fascinatingly creepy. But definitely the bathroom scene, or one of the scenes with the guy at the bar (lit from below). They are so mysteriously creepy and beautiful at the same time.

Glad I am not the only one who realized the Native American undertones.

The way the movie masterfully teases you with multiple theories, none of which fits perfectly, is just genius.

you are a black guy

"I corrrrected them"

The furry scene that implied Jack was sexually abusing Danny

I love the implication that Room 237 is just one of the many, many haunted things he knows about

God damn that was so fucking good
You never see a scene like that in a movie anymore

I feel like Jack fell in love with the hotel being haunted as fuck

I don't get the other translations. Is it nothing deeper than "his writing wasn't going anywhere?" seemed like that's all there is to it

Come play with us, Danny.

He was definitely raping him

Except it has 0 connection to the narrative. There's just as much imagery about snow.

A nigger cuck.

Can someone link me to the Native American thing people are talking about?
I love the movie but this theory sounds like DCEU levels of reaching

Boring meme

Its hinted that its haunted because its on an ancient indian burial ground. There is a lot of indian art and that in the movie. its not a theory, its fact.

Check this out.

this is the ahwahnee hotel in yosemite. i used to work there as a porter a few years ago. i got a blowjob from a roomservice girl in the grassy field right outside of this room. everybody who works there is a 20-30 year old burnout

thats not even kubrick, that room literally is always symmetrical and nicely lit

WOAH HOLY SHIT THAT'S SO DEEP AND CHANGES THE MOVIE OH MY GOD WOAH

>Dude obeys the hotel and successfully murders his family
>Gets made into a shitty waiter
>Jack fucks up killing his family completely, only kills the hotel cook
>Gets rewarded as being eminent party guest for eternity

What the fuck man

credits roll, it was a terrible movie with jack nicholsons and that whores acting sabotaging kubrick's desperate attempts to create artsy yet haunting atmosphere

It isn't that they became those roles, these people were alive in the twenties and possessed caretakers to become them.

But the interiors of the Overlook Hotel were constructed on the WB lot.

>gets vision of danger
>spends hours on the phone
>takes plane to another state
>rents a fucking snowplow thing
>drives through snowstorm to get to hotel
>gets an axe in the chest 10 seconds after arriving

Absolute kino boys. You don't see shit like this anymore.
