Pretty good pilot. It looks interesting

Needs to be an over the garden wall style miniseries, a full show would quickly wear itself out.

Yes. More miniseries.

I was never under the impression it was intended to be anything but.

The creator's influences are too transparent.

Okay, has this been picked up? Because I'm already invested in this.

fart car

Is that a question, or the answer?

a question
you're invested in fart car

I suppose so.

This is the best pilot I've seen since Steven Universe, which was the best pilot I'd seen since Regular Show, which was the best pilot I've seen since The Modifyers, which was the best pilot I'd seen since He-Hog the Atomic Pig. This means there's a 50% chance it'll get a pick up and a 25% chance it'll get a porn parody.

My favorite shows have always been ones where you don't know what to expect any given week. Adventure Time and Community were both like this at their heights, and I'm thinking this could be like that, too. Literally anything could exist in one of the train carts, which allows for infinite storytelling possibilities while still having the overarching plotline of Tulip trying to get home.

I have nothing but high hopes for this, should it get picked up.

>This means there's a 50% chance it'll get a pick up and a 25% chance it'll get a porn parody.
I'll take those odds.

>I have nothing but high hopes for fart car

Stop shilling on Sup Forums please.

The joke wasn't "lol farts." The joke is that the robot had dreaded the possibility of a fart car for some time and Tulip had shrugged it off as ridiculous, but there it is, a fart car. And the robot didn't even have any reason to worry because it had no nose. I'm sure for kids, though, "lol farts" would be enough, but there's enough substance that it actually works as a joke.

Also, girls reacting to bad smells is my fetish.

I wanna fuck that dog

>I wanna fart that car

...

Are you blind, user

They look nothing alike aside from the red hair.

My bad I guess I was wrong.

You niggas said the same things about twelve forever and look where that ended up

Betty from Adventure Time and Marvin from HHGTTG go through Dungeon Train from Adventure Time, meet Waddles from Gravity Falls as characterized when rendered intelligent, and have a run-in with No-Face from Spirited Away

The seams are as big as the hunks of inspiration they hold together

obligatory

The numbers. What do they mean?

Hmm

What about 42

I understand the love for the Adventure Time pilot. I donĀ“t see much on this here.

Is there a single original idea in this?

Is there a single original idea?

Yes, this show will never get picked up. We don't deserve it.

You are. They don't even look remotely similar. You are reaching in hopes of making a meme

3 is the number representing stability, 5 is the number representing humanity.

Add them together and you get 8, which is in the shows name.

5x3=15

5-3=2
Personally I think the numbers are a red herring, designed to showcase the protagonists reward seeking behavior and curiosity. Dollars to doughnuts that there's an invisible something or other watching her and messing with her.

Also the numbers didn't change until she helped the dogs with their problem. So its almost like she's being conditioned. Makes you wonder how she ended up on the train in the first place.

She's cute, I wanna smell her feet

3+5=4x2. So your onto something.

I thought she sounded familiar

Screen cap this:
It's her seat number on the train.

It was okay. Better than the other one certainly

I feel like that's something like what it's going to be.

This is branded as a "minisode" which may not mean anything and is just what they call pilots now but it might imply it was supposed to be just this. It's probably a pilot though, in which case I'd be interested in seeing it come to fruition. Some stuff I wasn't quite keen on like the gloomy robot but it's got the right stuff.

...

Then why would it change after driving of the Stewardess?

Yep. Maybe she's gotta get to the front of the train? She seems to be going back through the train though.

I feel like the train and the number have a similar aesthetic that works, but when they go to the corgi world it kind of ruins it. It doesn't seem connected at all. It didn't really seem lolrandumb though so that's good. And I love the idea of an infinite train and each car is a new world but I'd like it if the design were more unified.

When it reaches 0 she dies

The glow on the it is way too bright. It should be glowing all the time.

Did anyone watch this one?

Why isn't anyone talking about this one too?
youtube.com/watch?v=dkGPIPSHyUk

It's pretty good, but I wish they would change Victor's character
It's just so grating to see the plot being pushed forward by someone so annoying
Valentino is basically hispanic Steven Universe, which is kinda okay because he's not a huge jerk

Because its fucking trash.

but it changes. I thought that too but seat numbers don't just magically change.

Fucking loved this pilot. Seems like something that would get pitched in the 90's.

Hope it gets picked up as a mini series.

Cause it's aping off Gravity Falls lamely, and while it took some episodes to figure Mabel was shitty, the short Hispanic kid is shitty already.

Trains also aren't usually staffed by robots and each car isn't usually a new universe.

This is just Portal on a train.

I love it.

Its not a new universe its just a new area.

It wasn't trash.

Victor is fine. He's not that annoying. And Valentino is literally nothing like Steven Universe except for being fat. My problem with it was that there's sort of a lack of direction. I guess they're going to be exploring the city but that could be pretty much anything. There's no goal. With Infinity Train I'm interested in seeing what's going on since there's a clear mystery. Also the aesthetic could be pushed a lot further. I liked the backgrounds but you can make some really cool looking stuff with a Day of the Dead theme.

>Why isn't anyone talking about this one too?
People's reactions to Infinity Train seem to be split between "it's great" and "it's boring", mainly based on whether they think Tulip would make an interesting character.

So far I've yet to see anyone say anything significantly positive about Victor & Valentino. The characters are frustrating, and nothing about the setting is really interesting.

Oh god please CN pick this up

...

It doesn't seem like they've done anything with the mini pilot sode things they put on the channel

I know for a while there was huge support to make Twelve Forever an actual show, but I don't think they saw any results

Eh, I tried.

It would be better if it was in Spanish.

Alright I realized what those 2 reminded me of.

Hey that's pretty good

What is your reaction to Infinity train?

...

bumbumbumbumbum

This
A mystery series almost has to be a mini-series honestly, if you stretch one out for like five or six seasons than people will lose interest really fast.

Also CN has proved that they can turn out absolutely fantastic mini-series, OtGW is one of the best cartoons they've ever made.

Didn't you hear how they pronounced tacos and tortillas?

That's why it needs to be in Spanish

Awaiting Garabatoz

That guy's art sucks.

its got a lot of fine tuning it needs to do
Tulip is kind of a bitch, barely in a funny way
she spends her whole time annoyed with everyone and everything around her
the robots are also really annoying, they don't serve a purpose, not even as tools. they don't really complement Tulip's personality and make entertaining dialog with her
i don't see how people like the Corgi, all he was there was for easy exposition and making "cute" dog jokes. just a meme dog

the concept is interesting, the show has potential

This is Sup Forums

Nobody cares

>Tulip is kind of a bitch
How? She's just a little frustrated with her situation but she's not mean or bitchy at all. agree with the robots.

...

Is it bad that a female character is a bitch? Do they all need to be sweet and nice?

her situation is shitty
but her personality could be determined not frustrated

Honestly I wouldn't mind Tulip being a bit of a bitch if it was played in more of a snarky "I'm surrounded by idiots" sort of way instead of annoyed "I really wish I wasn't here right now" sort of way. Snarky mains can be great, especially if they're in a fairly nonsensical world that gives them a lot to play off of.

She's pretty determined to get to the bottom of the number. She doesn't really want to deal with other people's stuff. She was even optimistic that the next door would be nice after the fart room.

I disagree. I fucking hate "everyone is stupid except for me" in a main character.

>Tulip is kind of a bitch, barely in a funny way

That's just, like, your opinion man.

>she spends her whole time annoyed with everyone and everything around her

Seems more insecure and frightened from my point of view. With the outward annoyance just being a defense mechanism.

>the robots are also really annoying, they don't serve a purpose, not even as tools. they don't really complement Tulip's personality and make entertaining dialog with her

White and black is the color of conflict. Your supposed to find that annoying. Also, its a metaphor about how you can't rely on technology to do everything yourself. I would argue that the dialogue is entertaining.

>i don't see how people like the Corgi, all he was there was for easy exposition and making "cute" dog jokes. just a meme dog

To show the protagonist's softer side. May also be a nod to Jake the dog and Mr Peanut-butter.

Nice did you upload the uncensored to the booru

tumblr plz, it doesn't matter if its a girl

And of course I forget the pic[/spoiler]GIF. Of course.

Snarky works best if things are funny enough to play off it
which isn't the case

Why I'm thinking about Linda from Rio when I see her? Must be the big glasses.

I think it works pretty well if done right

S1 Twilight Sparkle was a pretty good example of a somewhat bitchy snark queen

Boy those sure are some concise, objective criticisms not based on personal taste at all. I can definitely see how much it can be improved if we simply reduce everything to being described as a meme.

>Honestly I wouldn't mind Tulip being a bit of a bitch if it was played in more of a snarky "I'm surrounded by idiots" sort of way instead of annoyed "I really wish I wasn't here right now" sort of way.

You WANT the same archetyple snarky character used in every goddamn cartoon with a snarky character? Again?

People bitch about Daria being that but even she was a nice sidestep of that being more apathetic than needlessly catty.

So nah, fuck that.

>its a metaphor about how you can't rely on technology to do everything yourself
I sincerely doubt that.

>May also be a nod to Jake the dog and Mr Peanut-butter.
Fucking how

It's always when it's a female protagonist, someone whines about her being a bitch. Why not about the pseudo-intellectual dialogue they gave her to make her sound smart, when she didn't need it in the first place?

It looks pretty good. Tulip seems pretty interesting, and manages to pull off being a well-read girl without running head-first into "cartoon geek girl" stereotypes (dysfunctionally insecure or utterly emotionless). As other people have pointed out, she's selfish without being a complete snarky asshole.

The robot character is basically worthless, and Tulip seems to has a better main character - sidekick interaction going with the damn corgi king by the end of the short. I'm honestly not really sure what they were aiming for there.

The art is functional, but not really appealing. they would definitely benefit from going back to the drawing board and experimenting some more with different style ideas.

The setting and general concept are amazing.

The jokes and humour need work. They weren't all that funny, and they failed to mesh well with the setting or re-enforce the tone of what was happening.

I didn't watch MLP but the only characters I know of like that would be terrible. It only works in a situation like Daria where that's the point. If Tulip were like Mandy it would fucking suck.

>pseudo-intellectual

She used the terms in their proper meaning and was doing it more out anger over her illogical situation rather than trying to sound smart to others.

You're basically whining in the same manner, only replace bitch with pseudo-intellectual.

>the robots are also really annoying, they don't serve a purpose, not even as tools.
There were several times during the episode the bots did something useful, and they're clearly important, as the larger robot left as soon as it say One One.

I mean "I really wish I wasn't here right now" annoyed is pretty accurate to her situation.
All she knows is that she's been stuck on a shitty magic train for a week with two robots, a number on her hand she has no idea about and seemingly no way home. Then all of a sudden you have to help King Memedog when all you want to do is move on to the next goddamn stage.

>Why not about the pseudo-intellectual dialogue they gave her to make her sound smart, when she didn't need it in the first place?
What's the problem there? She's trying to be highly logical, and it's a challenge for her to make sense of this seemingly random world she's found herself in. It's a good contrast. Kind of reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, but more modern.

>That's just, like, your opinion man.
i never stated it as fact, but whatever it takes for you accept that people have different thoughts than you
>Seems more insecure and frightened from my point of view. With the outward annoyance just being a defense mechanism.
thats something more they can dive into if the series gets greenlite, but we never saw more of her admirable traits. i know its just a pilot, but seems important for them to show
>White and black is the color of conflict. Your supposed to find that annoying. Also, its a metaphor about how you can't rely on technology to do everything yourself. I would argue that the dialogue is entertaining.
sounds good for one off characters, but not a strong enough concept for even sidekicks. i mean we're gonna see these characters in every episode in some way? should make them stronger characters, make them characters that can bring out the better traits of Tulip, not ones that bring out the worst
>To show the protagonist's softer side. May also be a nod to Jake the dog and Mr Peanut-butter.
Adventure Time didn't invent dogs, but i understood his use, he just wasn't really funny.

the show seems like the concept and setting was thought up first before the characters and dynamics
i see a lot of the CN pilots lately making this mistake.

>The robot character is basically worthless, and Tulip seems to has a better main character - sidekick interaction going with the damn corgi king by the end of the short. I'm honestly not really sure what they were aiming for there.

I like to think of it more as a tool then a character in its own right.

I'm just getting a little tired of most mains these days being idiot dude bro's or child Jesus, can you blame me for that?

>but we never saw more of her admirable traits
She didn't really need them? Why does she have to seem admirable in her situation? She can get more heroic later on after she's a bit used to things.

Okay.

This is a character that fits neither of these descriptions. She's just a disgruntled nerd with a number on her hand so far.

I don't see how that correlates other than jumping to the conclusion that she will become Child Jesus.
