Why don't millennials save money?

Why don't millennials save money?

Because they're hedonists.

Because they don't have the disposable income boomers did? Pretty obvious isn't it. Next few generations will pay for the lack of foresight of the boomers.

Because we really can't.

because they believe they will land 100k jobs after college

they bought into the meme hard, most people do

post nude soes

I WILL PUNISH YOU ALL FOR LIVING LIVES OF HEDONISITC PLEASURE

Because they secretly, subconsciously know that there won't be a future for them to save for. What would they need money for in the future? Their children's college fund? They just don't have children. A good start for their grandchildren? There won't be any. Retirement? Old people are stupid and boring, the state will provide care and otherwise they can't be bothered. They must think they can play le 8 bit indie games and hang out in hipster bars until age 90.

>by saving your money now, and not getting the things you want when you need them
>put it in the bank where it will gain interest at a rate of 90% less than the money's devaluation
>in 30 years, you can put all that money together to buy stuff you might not even want, and you might never even live to see!

>millennials are one person
I have plenty saved

>Why don't millennials save money?
inflation eats savings

...

...

Because it's so eagerly given to them instead of being earned.

I hate my generation.

As a millennial, this is blatantly fucking false.
I have no education and walked into a job I wasn't qualified for, but handed my resume in IN PERSON with a firm handshake and I got the job. Contrast this with a typical millennial who sends out 20 resumes on one online job list and complains they can't get hired because they're unwilling to leave the house and look.
I barely make above minimum wage and am starting to save money because I realized I was spending it fucking retarded. From buying new clothes to frivolous purchases online to buying McDonald's for lunch everyday and drinking on the weekends, etc. I'm still working on it cause habits die hard, but I've started shopping at thrift stores (if you check often enough you find good deals, like Hugo Boss dress pants for 15$) and preparing my own meals and it's already making a difference.

Long story short, the real redpill is that parents aren't handing down the tradition of stacking paper instead of buying material things and actually planning long term for retirement and a house. No, they'd rather rent and drop 200$ on clothes so they can be ON FLEEK SENPAI for the club that weekend.
My generation is shit.

>have good job, not great, but able to save money
>cost of living keeps going up thanks to dude weeds moving to Colorado
>paying almost double to live than 5 years ago
>mandatory health insurance premiums around 4000/year
>no pay increase
>reduced 401k to afford shit
>no longer saving

I imagine in 5 more years I'll be forced to move to a different state.

>Why don't millennials save money?

Why would you save something that constantly loses value?

because they care about the economy enough to give her all they got.

The problem is that people are dumb as shit generally in any generation. The reason why melinnials aren't doing x is because they got to be dumb as shit as soon as they became adults and get into non-dischargable debt for their lifetime through college financing.

boomer never saw this collapse coming
they thought well, if our kids went to college then its game over.
a smart boomer would make a family business or get him to a trust fund.
rich people that saw this coming (because they know economics better) did this and won't let their kids clean toilets with a college degree

>google "millennials not saving money"
>all results about how millennials are saving more than all other age groups

There's nothing even worth spending money on.

As soon as millennials get the majority vote, they're gonna elect a socialism president who will increase social security benefits and welfare to "solve" all their problems.

Because they're fucking stupid and plush, is this really a hard question?

Gen X here, 18 years old.

Millennials are the most stupid generation in recored histroy.

>Muh Berine
>Muh Collage
>Muh Libreal Arts degree

Then they complain they can't find decent jobs after getting a shit degree..

I've had a savings rate of 70% for the last year.

They didn't switch to geico

I agree with you on this. I grew up poor, I saw my family lose shit and they never taught me anything on handling money but seeing them struggle made me want to save up and work hard. My parents made everything they paid for me a loan cause they are pretty cuntish in that sense, it was my last year at highschool this happened and they just said I had to pay for all my own expenses. So I got shitty job after shitty job to pay for whatever I needed and still went to uni (al though it costs less here than in the US) but moving to another town and going there I saw people behave with cash my age that was just fucking stupid. They didn't work during summer and just had a maxed studentloan saying it was so damn hard working and studying. They said it wouldn't matter cause it wouldn't count if you wanted a mortgage or that interest was so low anyway. Now laws changed that you cannot get a mortgage with studentdebt and they have 15k debt and I 0.

I save money but I can't shake the fear that economic collapse is around the corner, in which case I might as well spend my money now while it has value.

1. It's not happening I should save for my future
2. It's happening what's the point of saving there is no future
3. back to 1

I blame Zerohedge for starting me on this cycle.
