So what do we think of her so far?

So what do we think of her so far?

I don't care. I highly doubt she's going to last anyway.

I'm guessing her number one will sell 27k. Then her #2 will drop down to 18k.

I support replacing all characters with cutie brown girls but I don't like Bendis writing anyone, ever

She's another one of Bendis' pets. She'll make it.

Who? What is this? Is this war machine's daughter taking his place since he died? Why is she iron man

>"WE" ???

"WE" think cruel and hateful things about her ... for "reasons"...

..."I" ... "I" think she hasn't been in enough stories to have any read on her character at all.

Her first issue isn't even out, and her tiny number of appearances in Bendis' other books have given us nothing to go off of other thank she's 15 and built a shitty iron man suit with a box of scraps in a scholarship funded MIT dorm room.

But it was good enough for Iron Man to invite her along for his big attack on the Triskellion and then for all the other teenage superheroes with actual experience fawning over her because she... flew around a bit? She's never actually shown doing anything in the fight.

But hey, Caselli is the artist, so like Bendis' GotG, it'll be fantastic art wasted on Bendis' lazier and lazier writing. Also, I'm totally down for more Ironman derivative characters because I see nothing wrong with a bunch of people running around in tech suits, but the appeal is that everyone's is different and reflects their personalities better. Rescue, War Machine, Iron Patriot, Iron Doom, they all have their own thing going to reflect the character using it. It's Marvel's /m/.

But Ironheart is just a fucking slimmer Iron Man suit. It doesn't even have a unique color, it's just a fucking Iron Man suit. At least the giant bulky thing with optimus prime for a head was different.

Riri Williams, Marvel/Bendis are pushing her to be the new Iron "Man" for the sake of diversity.

Shes able to build a suit in her dorm from material stolen around campus, then fights security and runs when they find out that shes been stealing and Tony then endorses her to be the new Iron "Man".

Waiting for them to address the afro hair. Makes sense for a guy to have short hair in a confined helmet; but an afro?

Go stuck it back up your asshole, we don't need to see it here.

I suppose racist pricks like you think suggesting that all black people are related is the most clever thing ever, it's not.
You're a witless bigot. Wake up to that. And take shame in it.

As for why someone who builds a super-suit from scratch gets to be Iron-Man?
Gee whiz...
You think you're not completely retarded, so if that's true you should be able to answer that question yourself. Right?

I'm waiting for the porn to get here. I literally only care about the porn. Nothing else.

If there were only one issue and that was it I would still be waiting for the porn.

The black people's hair racism meme again.
You're very clever for your race.
That's not a compliment.
Go back to Sup Forums.

Bendis making her 15 instead of at least 18 is a fucking crime. Especially because I've gotten more than enough teen legacy replacements.

Why not have her be in her early 20s? Then at least there's an element of her working to where she is instead of just being super-smart. Iron Man stories should inspire people to want to become engineers, not tell them that engineering abilities is just something you're born with. Sure Tony has that problem too a bit, but he was older with having put in the years established in his backstory.

There's something to be said for trying something new, but Bendis hasn't tried anything new in years.

You're not even trying. Fuck off with this falseflagging.

First look at the new #1's recap page.

She's dead on arrival.
Regardless of the premise, which personally I'm not against especially considering they've been trying to do the whole legacy trinity thing since before Secret Wars and instead of Tony getting a proper replacement they just made him evil and called it a day, it's being handled by Bendis which means it's pretty much gonna be abysmal. I mean she's already made an appearance in his Iron Man run and she still seems like kind of a nonentity.

>She should be older
Well I don't see a problem with making her a child prodigy. I just wish she was being written by someone who knew how to... you know, write comic books.

Oh while we're on the subject of making a female prodigy engineer Iron Man legacy character, Ewing has already introduced Toni Ho who built her own Rescue armor, is working with the New Avengers/Aimvengers, is the daughter of Ho Yinsen (the man who helped Tony build his original Iron Man armor), is currently in lesbians with Aikku Jokinen (AKA the pilot of Pod), and is poised to take on the roll of the new Iron Patriot (hopefully honoring the time Rhodey wore the title and not Norman Osborn) in USAvengers.
No big deal. Just saying. He beat Bendis to the punch.

I mean I'm fine with someone being a new iron person (weird they still name it iron man when it's a girl but whatever) but I do find it annoying that marvel is shoe-horning diversity characters for straight up no reason at all
Didn't rhodey have a niece with power armor? Why not use her? Why make a new character for this when there's literally already one?
And you're joking, her name can't possibly be Riri. Even bendis isn't that retarded

>Adding art to STEM

Welcome to 2016 user we accept, love, and boost the shit out of anything you create, so long as it's in line with our diversity push! Art is now a major deal buddy! Get used to it or get out

From an acronym stand point
STEAM
sounds better than
STEM

Doesn't matter that Ewing made a new Asian character to take a role, Marvel is going to shill the fuck out of RiRi because reasons.

And what happened the last time a shitton of folks had power armoured?

Tony went batshit crazy and hunted down each armoured figure and disabled them.

tfw Im in STEM and a better artist than most art majors

We think she is great and it's gonna be a rough time dealing with all the Sup Forumstards invading Sup Forums to spread their racial bias.

As others have pointed out before, by erasing the existing woc mechanic in Iron Manms supporting cast to push RiRi, Bendis is basically playing take-a-penny-leave-a-penny with minority characters to appear bold.

They're his characters to do so with

you mean his niece, Lila?
no, it's a new Bendis OC because reasons

If it wasn't for the blatant agenda and replacement I'd welcome her. But I still feel like comics introduce too many characters, they last a year and then they're forgotten sometimes forever.

Remember Suzi Endo? Technomancer, she was Tony Stark's asian employee in the 90's who made a suit and operated on a team called Force Works, where are they now? Forgotten mostly.

Same thing will happen to Riri, even if I like the characters some just don't stick.

>the existing woc mechanic in Iron Manms supporting cast
I haven't really tracked Iron Man, who are you talking about?

Hell, Big Hero 6 had a movie and Marvel haven't even relaunched their comic. They have diverse characters that exist already, Bendis & others at Marvel are just too lazy to do research.

Black people sound the dumbest when they feign intelligence

It's not lazy when those already existing characters don't fit rolls the current writers in change need filling. Then you guys start to bitch about asspulls and lack of canon.

Just make a new character and do with them what you will.

>black
>stolen materials
>fights security
>somehow she is the good guy and gets rewarded

At least they are embracing accurate black culture.

She is cancer incarnate

>Shes able to build a suit in her dorm from material stolen around campus, then fights security and runs when they find out that shes been stealing and Tony then endorses her to be the new Iron "Man".

This can't be true. Surely even Marvel can't be dumb enough to think that this would make a good first impression.

You left out smart and funny.

So they running damage control on her hair already, huh.

>is currently in lesbians with Aikku Jokinen
A lesbian in current year comic books? Frankly I'm shocked.

Marvel may not be but Bendis sure is.

No, that's just her hair when it's not in a fro. It's the same hair people assume doesn't hit inside a helmet.

>No, that's just her hair when it's not in a fro.
It's almost like they removed the afro due to logistic reasons.

>Shes able to build a suit in her dorm from material stolen around campus

Whoa. From A SCHOOL OF SCRAPS!

It's almost like someone in that universe invented a comb and she chooses to use it at her convenience.

The logistics up putting your hair back isn't an issue. The helmet doesn't go on pushing her hair in front of her eyes. It goes on face first going backward

She's enormously cute though.
I'd sex her up.

I want to fuck her

>It goes on face first going backward
It's a helmet not a baseball cap, you nitwit.

They shoulda called her Toniqua.

Have you not seen her take it off?

I think it'd be great to blow a huge load in her helmet before she puts it on.

Another comic I won't give a chance.

>Sharonda
>Lakisha
>Rondelle
Why are 'black' names so awful and obviously made up on a bet?

How else is a potential employer supposed to know to throw the job application in the trash?

They are new.
Humanity, in 5000 years, has pretty much chosen and used the best. Everything new is bound to be worse.

Daily reminder Sup Forums writes better characters than Bendis.

Don't reply to me anymore.

Honestly these.

Marvel's pushes for diversity in the past have always felt insincere, and their attempts to introduce new characters now are hampered by terrible crossover events. I have a feeling that Rebirth kicked Marvel's ass so badly because it was a clear and focused story, which meant editorial and creator-focus in DC's bullpen got tight as a laser. Marvel's recent slew of events have only been getting more convoluted and obviously driven by marketing, the prime example being the push for Inhumans.

That's a fraction of a whole though. Yes inhumans are the cause behind the current run but X-men have been the cause of their own problems that the community needed to fix

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Oh! You've opened my eyes! Now I know DC does diversity so much better!

... because they have ... how many important characters who aren't white ? ? ? ?

Well the important thing is that you know who you don't want allowed to do it differently.

How can women be (Iron) man?
that makes no fuckin sense
fuck your diversity quota Sup Forums

Her official superhero name is Ironheart. The series is just sticking with the Invincible Iron Man title for brand recognition.

You don't get it, user.
First, Toni is an asian woman and cishet white men are known to have a fetish on asian women. A character who may please the white oppressors? She can go to hell.
Second, the former Iron Patriot was a black man and Iron Patriot is not an iconic super hero identity. So unlike Riri, Toni doesn't have the nice perfume of social conquest.
Worthless character.

I don't read Bendis, therefore I don't have an opinion on her.

>I've never had a black friend so I have no idea how their hair works

It's okay, you could have just said that.

And yet here you are, making your opinion clearly known with your shitpost.

You'll note how I'm about to comment on how above shitposts *I* am, by posting about how *I* would never-ever shitpost because *I* am just so much better than those who do shitpost...

Because I don't post snide little pointless posts about what I don't do. Yeah... Yeah, that's right. I don't.

Iunno man it does kinda look like a jheri curl.
DESU the only comic book artist I can think of that can even draw an afro well is the one doing that Jem book.

Define "important".
And also maybe define "not white" because I'm not sure what Damien counts as for example. He's a halfie but he passes, so...

- Riri is 15.
- Tony was a grown man when he became Iron Man.
- Tony became Iron Man not because he felt like it but because he almost died and was reborn in blood and fire and pain.
- For a time, being Iron Man was like penance. He was wearing an iron prison without which he would die. He became a hero by turning something terrible into something useful.
- Jim took over as Iron Man at a time of immense crisis. And he had already paid his dues - again, in blood and fire, and he kept paying it. And he was already a grown man with years of combat experience before he even met Tony Stark.

Who is Riri? A girl who wanted to build armor. And so she just steps into the role? If she had had blonde hair and blue eyes, everybody would have denounced her.

Bendis is a hack. And defending this move is irrational. There were SO many ways to do this better.

Think about how the other new, generational (and often non-white) heroes got their position. Kamala got her powers by Terrigenesis. Miles was bitten by a spider. Sam got the helmet foisted upon him. And they decided to do good with them.

They didn't just do it 'just because'. You know someone who does that? Gwenpool. And she's a parody character.

>Caselli is un the book

Fuck. I fucking hate how Marvel has such amazing artist in their shitty books.

Nobody said a word about it when Rhodey wore the helmet. You know why? Because his hair is sensibly short.

Yes, but that was because they used his technology. These armors just LOOK like his.

Besides, Tony doesn't seem to be a going concern anymore.

You know you guys remind me of a simple fact.
Riri is stupid.
Yeah, she built her own armor but the fact that it's armor at all and not a remote piloted drone is fucking stupid.

Tony had a a reason for it to be armor. She doesn't. So why is she actually getting in the thing to get shot at instead of controlling it from her dorm?

No, that's M'Nagalah.

I would not mind if she had kept the name 'Iron Man'.
"But you're a girl."
"The armor is named 'Iron Man'. Nova isn't a literal nova, is it?"

>cishet white men are known to have a fetish on asian women

See, this is how you get called a bigot. By making absurdly sweeping generalizations.

>Waiting for them to address the afro hair. Makes sense for a guy to have short hair in a confined helmet; but an afro?

Mr. NFL Controversy Guy can get his afro in his helmet just fine.

You can work with the idea that Riri is a technological genius but not a very practical person - and she gradually grows into one by harsh experience.

People knocking on her for being a cheap knock-off and a girl and not white and not having a moustache, and her fighting through all that.

First two missions everything goes smooth... third mission... it goes terribly, terribly wrong. And she locks herself in the bathroom and she won't come out for hours... and when she does come out she looks different. And not just because she cut off her long hair.

Becoming Iron Man needs to come at a price. It's not just an awesome, kick-ass suit you wear and its amazing.

What the hell was Bendis thinking? How is a teenage girl without any experience supposed to handle serious super-hero shit?

Anyone remember Civil War? You know, when Tony went to the barricades to make sure this exact thing would NOT happen?

Fuck you, Bendis. Seriously. You bald, pasty-faced hack.

>Waaah waaah racism
>We can be Iron Man n sheiiit too
>Asshole! Retard! Bigot! Shame on you! Shame!
Go get a job on SJW hype sites, you'll do well there.

>A well constructed argument by someone who knows Iron Man's history.
Go get another hobby. Marvel does not deserve you anymore.

And then the SJW's say comic book fandom is broken...

>and built a shitty iron man suit
Look, I'm not disagreeing with you on the rest of it, but Iron Mech looked really fucking cool.

>I mean I'm fine with someone being a new iron person (weird they still name it iron man when it's a girl but whatever)
She's called Ironheart, actually. She's just headlining the Iron Man book.
>but I do find it annoying that marvel is shoe-horning diversity characters for straight up no reason at all
It's not for no reason. It's to sate Bendis's ego.
>Didn't rhodey have a niece with power armor? Why not use her? Why make a new character for this when there's literally already one?
Because then Bendis wouldn't get royalties.
>And you're joking, her name can't possibly be Riri. Even bendis isn't that retarded
Wanna bet?

Caselli on Bendis' Iron Man
Schiti on Bendis' GoG
Pichelli on Bendis' Spider Man
At least he didn't get Checchetto for Iron DOOM

So Iron Man is becoming Fe Male.

>implying that Riri isn't meant to appeal to white guys with a fetish for ebony teens

Reminds me of the 90's "This character is going to replace the old one and its going to be so much better and cooler in every way!"-craze. And just like those abortions, this character will be forgotten in a heartbeat as well. Disney doesnt sell Riri Williams toys for children or make movies about her so the next generation doesnt give a shit about her either.

>She's called Ironheart, actually. She's just headlining the Iron Man book.
That's foul
What's the matter? Can't sell Ironheart?
Get good.

>And you're joking, her name can't possibly be Riri. Even bendis isn't that retarded
This is the same Bendis that sat down and said "I'm gonna name Black Spider-man's dad after the president of the confederacy".

Well, it's not like Sif's Journey Into Mystery run sold.

Don't care.

I don't want her as Iron Man or want Bendis writing her, but I don't think she's unsalvageable.
Assuming that Bendis gets taken off Iron Man and Tony comes back to life, what I'd do to redeem her is:
>Give her to a better author. Probably a black one who's actually been to university that might have a hope of understanding what that's like.
>Give her some flaws. Like, I dunno, crippling self-doubt and a tendency to hyperfocus and not be able to see the bigger picture? There you go, plot hooks.
>Trash her Iron Man-lite suit, make her rebuild her box-of-scraps suit.
>Go down the Ms Marvel route - make her a more "local" hero than the international Iron Man, put some focus on her struggles with being a 15-year-old university student. Do short, 1-2 issue arcs to build her up her own rogues' gallery.
>Bring in Lila Rhodes as the All-New War Machine to be a rival to her.
>Potentially: replace her Tony Stark AI with an AI based on him called T.O.N.Y. which does its best to give her life advice.
It still probably wouldn't get past 6 issues, but, like... there's stuff that Marvel could do to make her work, if they were self-aware enough.

>It still probably wouldn't get past 6 issues
It's Bendis's OC. She will live next 200 issues.

Nah, I'm talking about a solo under the Ironheart name without Bendis writing it, which is the only way I could actually see it being good.
Bendis would probably try to get it cancelled out of spite.

I don't understand why don't they fire Bendis...

Brian Michael Bendis was born on August 18, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio to a Jewish-American family. Bendis grew up in University Heights where, despite rebelling against a religious upbringing, he attended the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland, a private, modern Orthodox religious school for boys.
well... that makes a lot of sense.

Why? There are many Bendisfags outside of Sup Forums

He used to be one of their best sellers. Still is, but that's because they keep putting him on sure-seller books.
They're convinced that the Bendis is a superstar whose name is a sure draw.

Why? Does any of this seems typically "Jewish"?

But user, that's not part of black culture, which is what was being addressed

Not fat and crippled enough.

At least we get Iron Doom. Oh, wait, it's being written by Bendis too. Fuck.
