Insecure kino

>Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
I think this movie had a good grip on the insecurity of being an Asian American male

Silence of the Lambs is pretty good

>Would u fugg me?

I have always loved this movie. ( Haven't seen the new Bruce Lee biopic yet)

There is something crazy about this movie I cannot describe. But I think the best scene was near the end when Bruce freaked out and acted all the Chinese American stereotypes.

>mfw when I finally understand what did that prisoner threw to Clarice.

lauren holly is a prime piece of ass in this.

I'm somebody here[Hong kong]! I'm special!
back there[America], I'm just another gook!
just another wetback, charlie chan, slopehead, coolie dishwasher...
in a stinking chinkie restaurant!

>gee did he really think that?

Jason Scott Lee always deserved a way better career than what he ended up with. I thought he gave a genuinely great performance in Map of the Human Heart. By the time he played he played a stoic villain with no lines in Soldier it was all over. After that he didn't act in another live-action theatrical film for 5 years, then Direct-to-DVD world awaited.

Are you kidding me? Would you like to be an Asian dude in 1970's USA? Lee knew that in the US he'd just be another gooklet. At least in HK, he was a movie star.

Mickey Rooney being a buck-toothed Japanese is the norm in what Hollywood depicts Asian males. You rarely see one who acts like a normal person, hooks up with a girl, and speaks without an accent.

It's kinda jarring when you hear that diatribe when in the beginning, he was stoked as fuck to discover he was a US citizen and was heading to California. Especially when he talks to that historian on the ship to the US who tells him about "not a Chinaman's chance" and how Bruce Lee insists he's different.

Nobody in the US especially Hollywood gives a fuck about Asian dudes as serious actors. It's kinda sad that the only big name Asian male actor is Ken Jeong.

Agreed. I have seen that direct to DVD dance movie in Asia
Map to Human heart was the only NZ movie I ever saw
Easter Island movie was also cool.

I suppose he had some personal issue that halted his career.

That was a great scene because he got to show all that hate that built up for years. Yeah he faced a lot of bullshit trying to be an Asian actor in America during the late 60's.

Exactly. It must've pissed the fuck out of him that his idea for the Kung Fu TV series had David Carradine casted instead of him.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story was made in 1993; it depicted a good-looking ripped Asian-American actor having sex and marrying a smoking Lauren Holly, having kids, being an action star in Hong Kong.

Flash-forward to 2016. We have Birth of the Dragon, a movie about some white guy who studies under a kung fu instructor named Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee is just the dude who fights a Shaolin dude name Wong Jack Man while the white guy is the main focus...how the fuck did they regress this much in 24 years?!

>>>r/asianmasculinity

I almost forgot that he was in the 1994 Jungle book movie with Lena Headey. And it showed him hooking up with her. Was there a reason why the early 90's had a brief moment of treating Asian male actors decently? I remember Russell Wong making some headlines in Vanishing Son during that same time.

he saved her, you know? the whole subtext is that hannibal doesnt eat her because she's tained by that dude's cum

I think it was also when Jackie Chan and Jet Li trying to enter Hollywood

Politically it was before China's rise and after its diplomatic freeze. And it's just before HK returning to china. Lots of them moved to Canada

Are you a 90s born queer?

>All these hapas in this thread

Does it hurt to be so unwanted Chinamen?

Not sure if Asian-male-white-female pairing of this movie is reversing or actually hilighting Asian males' insecurity

It's a karma I have to work though

Lee was 1/4 European. He's a mongrel pretending he's part of a group that he really doesn't belong in, let alone can claim he speaks for. It's like listening to Black Americans claim they're African, when studies show that literally 1/4 to 1/3 of their DNA is European or mixed.

hapas have to go back

>( Haven't seen the new Bruce Lee biopic yet)

Only thing you need to know about that is it's produced by WWE films and focuses more on a fictional white character that never existed than on Bruce Lee himself.

Dude who posted about Jason Scott Lee here: I'm a white racist /po/fag.

Actually I think the value of that movie was to be about Asian American rather than about Asian

And now Hollywood is sucking up to the Chinese for their dollars. It's kinda pissing me off because there's so many shitty flicks being saved by the China box office.

You watched it on AMC too?

Why does this board attract so many degenerate losers? Sup Forums, blackposting, pedos, and now we have insecure asians. When does it end?

They were all here before you newfag.

At least they knew tfa was complete shit.

(me)
I should clarify that I am full Asisan so I can't speak for hapa

This and Harold/Kumar are the only movies I can think of where a Asian guy had a relationship. Jet Li and Aaliyah counts too, I guess, but they didn't even get to kiss

JSL was a real one in the 90s. Truly /ourguy/.

I'm Asian and I spit out my drink laughing at that scene. I also chuckle when I hear Asians ching chonging around me but sometimes the shit gets on my nerves. Asians are quiet then they act like niggers in public when they speak their own lamguage. What the fuck's wrong with me? I work in a casino and I see interracial relationships thru many age gaps. I notice white girls actually stay skinny for a while with Asians maybe because his family keeps calling her fat then the white girl ends up blowing up like a balloon drone after a couple kids and the once alpha Asian husband is now shrivelling up and going bald. White dudes just let themselves go with Asian girls cause Asian families don't care if the white guy gets fat and bald. Then his hot wife spits out 6 elliot rogers and still looks hot. I think white guys win at the interracial Asian dating game.

No I saw it on Cinemax long ago. Along with a documentary that contained some interview with Brandon Lee

I remember when asked if he identified himself as an American he smiled nervously "I date white women"

It might all be in my head though. Not sure if that footage actually existed

dude, get help

90s born queer shut the fuck up.
