Why does the Superfamily never get any love ? If you like the new Superman status quo with his son it's ok, but would it kill them to have some more stories with Superman, Supergirl, Superboy and Steel working together ?
Also do you think they will bring back the cool N52 Krypto ?
Henry Torres
I will never stop loving the combination of Superman, Supergirl and Superboy.
I even liked the Nu52 Interpretation of the trio, even though they started off poorly and never had any gradual time to develop as a family. All 3 of them were different in terms of personality and powers so they complimented each other.
I'm fine with OG Superman returning and having a son, but damn.
Jaxson Evans
What were they thinking with those costumes?
Evan Watson
Nu52 nuked the Superman family, so there you have it.
Supergirl hated Superman and was racist against Superboy. Superboy was an edgy cunt without empathy who thought Superman was a fool and Supergirl was a racist cunt. Krypto was left starving in the Fortress of Solitude. Steel hardly knew Superman other than through fucking Lana and was mostly working in Africa.
Hudson Roberts
What were they thinking with those costumes? They weren't thinking at all.
The only one that really irks me is Kara's. Mostly because of the lower half. The "diaper" look is just bad. The skirt was better.
Considering Superboy's Nu52 Origin his costume makes more sense. I know the vast majority of people will forever despise him, but I liked him - both Kon and Jon.
As for Superman? I'll be honest. I like his costume as much as I do his original design. I don't have much to say besides that.
Robert Jenkins
What? There was a shit ton of Supeman family storylines. And characters have starred in each others' books plenty of times. And the Superman family is getting a major boost during Rebirth.
I want lesbo Maxima to come back and make Supergirl hers. She needs to get herself some kryptonian loving.
Hudson Fisher
>I know the vast majority of people will forever despise him, but I liked him - both Kon and Jon.
Why would you like such an awful and convoluted origin that pretty much made the character toxic?
No, seriously. I beg for an explanation. I can't fathom why anyone would like Nu52 Superboy.
Asher Rodriguez
Kara's costume doesn't bother me that much. Her excuse for boots, on the other hand... >Superman's plate armor on legs Damn, son. Someone pressed W for Power Ranger?
Julian James
>I want lesbo Maxima to come back and make Supergirl hers. She needs to get herself some kryptonian loving.
Lesbo Maxima only served to poke fun at OG Maxima and nothing else.
Wyatt Jackson
>Superboy Nice one.
Mason Long
>No, seriously. I beg for an explanation. I can't fathom why anyone would like Nu52 Superboy.
Mostly the initial premise. It was an interesting take on the concept - going back to his roots as a clone bred as a weapon. At least it was until we learned that Lobdell was writing it.
I also liked the fact that his powers were more reliant on Psionics - mentally based as opposed to being another flying brick. It makes him more unique and more entertaining to see in combat - assuming we ever did have a writer creative enough to use Telekinesis to their fullest potential. >Force-Fields >Augmented Strength >Tactile Sensing (He does this in one of the earlier issues) >Flight >Pseudo-Telepathy etc.
Austin Rivera
As the series went on Superboy and Supergirl got way better. Sadly I don't remember what happened with Krypto but I think he sacrificed himself for something.
Can't say anything about Steel really, just add that they did meet in that Brianiac story first.
Jaxson Watson
>never had any gradual time to develop as a family Mostly because of this, OP. DC doesn't really allow the Superfam to meet up and have adventures together for some reason, they way the Batfamily DOES. Like they introduced Chris and then ushered him out. Then Kon was kind of gone with the New 52 and now we have Jon. I like to think Rebirth will unite the Superfamily but I dunno.
Hunter Sullivan
Superbro is dead, Superboy is in limbo and Kara is disconnected. We really need to expand the Superman family. Will Kenan serve as its Nightwing?
Lucas Fisher
It was Byrne. He had a hard on for making Superman an American hick and the last living Kryptonian, so no Superman emergency squad, no Nightwing and Flamebird and no Kara. Also there was no Superboy, so no proper Losh. Krypto was fucking convulted too. Eventually Jimmy was sidelined more and more. What was DC thinking giving their biggest character to someone like Byrne.
Adrian Watson
Was that the time when Luthor became muscle freak that we know?
Austin Phillips
>Will Kenan serve as its Nightwing? That should be Lor-Zod
Austin Lee
It was after Byrne left.
Luis Foster
We need a House of El reunion.
Elijah Kelly
Superman is really fucking good right now and it's consistently selling really well. I'm sure we'll get some Superman-family crossover at some point.
Jacob Lee
Honestly, I think the Superman family has the perfect amount of characters but the main problem is that most of them are underused.
In a perfect world, Power Girl would be to Superman what Nightwing is to Batman.
I always wanted to see Kon work with Power Girl as a sidekick.
Wyatt Smith
Give it time. The Superbooks are flourishing, for now is better to leave them to do their own thing. The N52 Superfamily suffered by the abuse of crossovers, and because of that, each book was cheapened.
I want a Superfamily reunion, but one that mark a special ocasion, not a senseless and endless bockering between books.
Christian Green
I actually liked their interaction in this crossover. And Kon should have kept the Nu52 outfit, it worked for him w/o a cape
Kayden Baker
I liked Kara's costume dammit. The crotchplate was...troublesome but it could be made to work
Mybe I just like it for how it parallels Powergirl's outfit
Adam Brown
H'El on Earth was actually good for Kara though
Daniel Walker
Agreed, although I think PG with cape coming off one shoulder rather than both has more charm.
Kevin Cox
I think this might be the best time the Superman-line of comics has seen in a decade, or more maybe.
Joseph Bailey
It was actually awful as fuck for her. Scott Lobdell kept pushing the idea that she was a racist against clones and she became extra cunt-y whenever written by him.
He only added bad shit to her mythology, made her past convoluted thanks to the time-travels and her book lost all direction because of the cross-over.
Ryder Cox
The H'El arc elaborated on her feelings of loneliness and longing for home, and set up her character arc for most of the run. >Scott Lobdell kept pushing the idea that she was a racist against clones I don't get why this was bad
Elijah Reyes
>Kon with Power Girl You meant Jon, right? As Superdad is busy saving the would and Supermom is busy at her job, Superaunt PG is ready to look after their kid.
Landon Morgan
H'El arc made Kara fall back on her development. Come on.
She was already accepting dealt with Krypton's bad creations in her own comic and accept her place on Earth, but then the H'El cross-over started and she became unreasonable angry, stupid and prejudiced. She gloated about Superman not being able to protect innocent humans while he fought H'El.
Then after that cross-over he book lost all the momentum and direction.
No, fuck H'El on Earth, who was an awful villain, and whatever stupid additions Lobdell gave to Krypton's culture, which were cringy as fuck. Specially the clone wars shit, which was just Lobdell cribbing ideas from Byrne without an once of nuance and talent.
David Rivera
and here I am realizing people didnt like the New 52 version of the superfamily. . Sure, i couldnt get into Kon El's character in New52, but once he got with Superbro and Kara, the 3 of them felt natural and fun to me. The only story i didnt really like was the one where Superboy dies but it was only the end, and other than that, i enjoyed them a lot. Dat Kara especially.
Sebastian Miller
Yeah, the knee gap always pissed me off.
Superslut is still my favourite tho
Alexander Carter
I just want Kon to be Jon's (rebirth, not psycho future Lob-dell abortion) chill big brother who gives him advice about combat and about Jon's crush on Kathy, protects him from bullies, and has regular team-ups.
>TFW New 52 Kon was so trash that this will never happen.
Kon is one of my favourite characters, but I hate so many of his appearances. It's a struggle.
>I try to enjoy '90s Superboy, but it feels really dated and slightly cringeworthy. >Young Justice (comics, not cartoons) was goodshit because of the character dynamics >Johns objectively gave him a stupid retKon, but I actually kind of like that Kon matured and became calmer, more centred. It could have been handled better, though. I also like the SuperLex clone origin more than the previous 'clone of Paul Westfield'- it is more simple and dynamic in my opinion. I enjoyed the run, and enjoyed the ideas, but they could have been done better. >Young Justice (cartoon) had good reinterpretation of his relationship with Superman, but Kon was barely used outside his dynamic with M'Gann, and lost every goddamn fight he had with a named character in Season 2. Not much better in Season 1. Also, since Blue Beetle joined the team, he's not even the strongest anymore. In addition, he can't age, and so is stuck with the fact that every single relationship he will ever have will become /ss/. things improve with Season 3- maybe he'll start to develop TTK or something. >His Adventure Comics run was pretty good, only ended by the New 52. >New 52 Superboy was utter trash.
Dylan Nguyen
I loved Supergirl's comic, but her the cross-overs were awful for her, specially under Lobdell, because they used her as the stupid/cunt of the family. It was also after the first cross-overs that her book lost the initial direction and we had constant new creative teams doing "new, bold directions" with her.
Superboy's comic was awful all around and i hate Nu52 Kon with passion. I even dropped reading Supergirl during her last run because he appeared in that, despite the good art.
Superman's comics were filled with constant cross-overs that simple fucked completely with the comics potential. It's like awfulness of certain books, like Superman and Superman/Wonder Woman, started to sip and encrust with the good books, Action Comics and Batman/Superman, making them all shitty by result. Take Batman/Superman as an example. The first arc was a beautiful thing, but the rest? Dear fucking God.
I felt bad for Greg Pak constantly having to work on building a shit sandwich with people like Scott Lobdell.
Jonathan Nguyen
God Superboy got fucked so hard by the New 52. I posted this in another thread but idgaf
has his backstory Lobdell'd into incomprehensible bullshit >Meaning of his name changed to 'abomination in the house of El >Supergirl hates him, Superman doesn't give a shit >Tronsuit >Every second sentence he says involves "living weapon" >Drawn into multiple shoddy crossovers >Dies during one of them, not even his own book >Superman STILL doesn't give a shit >Cucked out of his own book by Jon Lane Kent >Cucked literally by Tim Drake fucking Wonder Girl >Becomes a ripoff Silver Surfer >Literally the issue he is brought back to life fully the book is cancelled >Reappears a few years later >Is now apparently a murderer >Superman STILL doesn't give a shit >Martian Manhunter jobs to him >Things seem to be improving, he was apparently framed. >Goes to prison, about to fight Despero, and... >LOBDELL BROUGHT IN AS CO-WRITER. >HARVEST COMES BACK >Apparently this was Harvest's plan all along!! >Superboy confesses that he was a murderer all along. >Says that he will always be a living weapon >Flies into a wall and dies? Maybe? (seriously, what the fuck happened in that issue, can someone who understands help me) >SUPERMAN STILL DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT >Teen Titans comic moves on as though nothing happened >Shortly afterwards, DC Rebirth announced, with advertisment showing what looks like Kon's silhouette in his original costume >Jon White announced as New Superboy >Kenan Kong takes most of his gimmicks from the '90s >Kon hasn't been seen since
Jackson Gray
Reading Jeff Lemire's run on Superboy with Manapul's beautiful art, which was curt short thanks to Nu52 is like... watching your beautiful wife smile to you right before you're about to hit and crash your car killing everybody inside it.
Lincoln Rodriguez
You just had to do follow the Young Justice cartoon route and make Superboy's the lovechild between Superman and Lex Luthor which was created by the US in case they ever needed a Superman replacement. That's it. Then you can have Superman as his mentor and the YJ crowd as his friends. Not hard.
But nope, Lobdell managed to fuck it all up somehow.
Jonathan Phillips
>tfw no teenage Alex Danvers in the comics with a huge inappropriate crush on adult Maggie Sawyer... Also, Doomed was the worst crossover i ever read. I really hope the next Superfamily crossover is better.
Jaxson Butler
Do people really want more Super crossovers? You basically had those for the past 30 years.
Christopher Hernandez
Just put Tomasi in charge of it, He understands that Supes works best when he has fun adventure type stories.
Caleb Robinson
Right now, Superman family isn't really family. They need an arc where they all meet, introduced to Jon and set a relationships which each other. Maybe even meet Bizzaro from Outlaws. Also they really should show what in the end happened to New 52 Superboy.
Jose Evans
Is Power Girl even considered part of the Superman family?
Alexander Clark
all in due time. they are still building up Jon as superboy.
I would love more Superman/Steel interaction though.
Thomas Sanchez
Of course. Ignoring that strange time she was a part of Aquaman family.
Carter Thompson
I feel bad that I unironically liked Superboys outfit
Camden Scott
Immediately post-CoIE was a hell of a thing for some characters.
William Scott
Immediately post-Flashpoint was a hell of a thing for some characters too. For some of them it still is. It's like they enjoy fucking stuff up.
Ethan Murphy
It's cool, the red/black teenage badass stereotype notwithstanding.
Ian Fisher
Need to have Kal meet his newest addition already. Maybe after Kenan finishes up his first arc.
Landon Lewis
What happened to snow dog krypto? He looks likes a lab again
Isaiah Foster
Does his comic actually have a following? He seems to be really boring.
Now Super Luthor, that's an interesting twist and I would like him to join the family to fight a returning pre52 Luthor.
Eli Thompson
Nah, fuck Super Luthor.
Jacob Ramirez
Kinda off topic. But why did people hate Nu52 Superman so much, that DC had to kill him off, and not give him a makeover like everyone else?
Logan Parker
>But why did people hate Nu52 Superman so much, that DC had to kill him off, Source ? People disliked change when N52 started but most just got used to him by now.
Christopher Butler
You wish you could match this magnificence.
Elijah Martinez
New Super-man is leagues better than Action Comics and Kenan is great addition to the DC universe.
Isaac Green
Kenan is a straight-up ripoff of '90s Kon
Kayden Parker
>I loved Supergirl's comic, but her the cross-overs were awful for her Were people triggered because of Red Ring, weren't they?
Xavier Peterson
And DCEU's Barry is Wally in disguise, amirite?
Josiah Scott
He was too much of a alpha and a chad, even for normal Superman. People couldn't take it.
Elijah Phillips
And he didn't love Lois and he loved Wonder Whore.
James Reyes
Oh yeah, the final nail in the coffin...
Naturally the whore gets to walk away scott free of course.
Angel Allen
She's in Rucka's hands so I wouldn't say scott free. WHERE'S MY MISTER MIRACLE BOOK, JOHNS?
Henry Morales
I actually miss mad Kara. Her being more angry because she had actually grown up in Krypton was an interesting take on her story, imo.
Noah Smith
I like Kenan a lot. He's basically 90s Superboy before he mellowed in Young Justice and then had the Geoff Johns retooling.
Ian Sanchez
I don't but im glad they were thinking it
Liam Russell
>there are now two (2) 90s Superboys running around and neither of them is in a relevant comic
Austin Cooper
>would it kill them to have some more stories with Superman, Supergirl, Superboy and Steel working together ?
To be honest the New 52 Superbooks were way too incestuous. Crossovers up the ass. And they all hated each other, which drove me nuts.
I'm okay with things being more separate in Rebirth, at least to start. And I would totally be okay with Supergirl appearing in Superman and vice versa, as long as it doesn't necessitate an inter-title crossover. Just have the character guest star in the other character's book, please.
Liam Jenkins
I miss this costume.
Brandon Allen
>Crossovers up the ass. That's good. >And they all hated each other, That's bad.
Luis Wood
I'm with this user about the New 52 version; I especially dislike Kara because she seemed to have no real reason for hating Superman. She might as well have been a random Kryptonian who ended up on Earth, versus being an actual relation of Clark's.
The cross-overs they had with the three of them were related to each other - H'El (which was a pretty stupid idea - it was just -- well, let's think of someone so super powered he can essentially beat down all three of the Kryptonians on Earth BECAUSE REASONS and, then - as if that cross-over was such a block buster seller, they create a cross-over with him again as the villain in Krypton Returns. Yes, in that cross-over, they worked a bit better together and weren't at each other throats, but the overall arc and story/plot was beyond worthless.
Nicholas Richardson
I miss Cir-el
Christopher Ramirez
The costume was awful. Why does she have long sleeves and those absurdly high knee less-boots and the metal crotch-shield. As a costume design, it's the worse of what someone would design for a porn parody.
Especially once they did the issue where the should proud papa giving the outfit to Kara as her passage to adulthood. NO ADULT FATHER ON ANY PLANET ANYWHERE would give that plate crotch shield to any daughter of them.
I don't think even Mormon's who believe in inter-marriage and think all women are good for is domestic servitude, sexual service, and procreation, would pimp our their daughter's to their fellow believers in that kind of outfit.
Kevin Ross
I think the same.. the character and the costume.
Evan Allen
What I wouldn't mind seeing, is once they do the Superman multiverse cross-over issues that they are going to do with Superdad, that they do a 2-4 issue run somewhere with Jon meeting Chris Kent (although it might need to be Earth 16 one versus Lor-Zod), and Kon-El (I'd prefer the Adventure Comics version) and maybe some other multiversal cameos.
Tyler Garcia
Superwoman is basically a Superfamily book
It has Lana, Steel, Natasha and later on Traci 13.
Isaac Turner
RIP
Carter Russell
Yeah, he used tactile sensing to peek at Wonder Girl when she was bathing in a lake
Samuel Campbell
>Flies into a wall and dies? Maybe? (seriously, what the fuck happened in that issue, can someone who understands help me) As someone who liked Nu52 Kon (I know, I know) this piss me off to no end. I will never forgive Lobdell for this shit sundae
Levi Sanchez
>Red underwear on the armor It's like they are actively mocking us
Ryan Howard
Okay scenario time, boys and girls. >Bart shows up in the cell across from Tim >Conner in the cell between them >Rebirth climaxes >boys are set free >Kon finds out about Jon >decides that he won't take away the boy's claim to the name, even if he could What does he call himself now? SuperGuy? Gardner would take offense. Superdude? He's not Kel Mitchel. Flamebird? Another Superboy? I mean, there's two Wally Wests and going to be three Flashes.
Adam Wilson
Nightwing Or Superboy, yeah.
Hunter Gomez
Is there a Guardian right now?
Luis Brooks
I didn't hated him, but he never really felt like Superman to me. The armor design didn't help. The attitude, even less.
During 5 years i waited to see if the character progresed into something better...and then Convergence happened, showing off a lot of better versions of the character.
When the pre-FP Superman, with wife and kid, got his own comic, i had no reason to care anymore about the strange n52 version.
Kayden King
Who is second?
Jaxson Murphy
TV Mon-el. Hitting on women, playing drinking games, wearing black and red with blue jeans.
Owen Jones
>Kara finding him boning Ms. Teschmacher in the closet keks were had
Luke Anderson
Boy do I miss Connor. Think of how cool it would be if there was a Kon and Jon book with him taking Jon out for pizza and teaching him how to pick up girls.
Angel Jenkins
>attempting to dispense wisdom about girls >keeps getting interrupted by texts from Tim
Noah Ortiz
>Implying it's not actually Kon who trails off mid explanation and looks to his phone expectantly, his mood turning slightly sour when he doesn't get a text and then his mood shooting up at a sudden return text from Tim.
Charles Campbell
Cute! Someday Tim will rescue his friends from limbo.
Owen Murphy
Which one? There are a whole bunch of Kons in limbo
Alexander Young
Didn't those kons merge into one?
Joseph Allen
No...? I think they all just kinda went back into whichever dimension they got sucked from when Jon brave birded EvilKon
William Reed
Post-Death Kon is the only real one. Everything after that is DC shitting itself.
Levi Hill
Marvel Family is vastly superior in all forms both Nu and Classic
Eli Anderson
Go to bed Elvis.
Cooper Barnes
Lieutenant Marvels really changed in New 52. Rebirth when?
