read a book, nigga

besause it's entertaining

this was very silly desu.
for the sake of it, the ship basically hit a small moon and had enough force to move it

Why didn't the rebels use it to push the death star away from their moon base?

>comparing a star destroyer to a small moon
>forgetting that the ship was out of power and floating helplessly in zero-g

or to cut through that hole thing?

>out of power
ah yes and other large pieces of mass such as moons are full of power.
>floating helplessly in zero-g
like a small moon? come on now, this scene was silly

>he hasn't even calculated the trajectory of the impact
give it up lad

Embarrasing, go back to high school retard.

>In Zero-G
>The Ship is literally shaped as a Battering Ram
>Thrusters helped push the Stardestroyer
But the only thing I didn't understand, is What happened to all the Debris?

>retard
I think youre still in high school

sage

fanservice

Tiny ship pushes star destroyer with enough force to cut through another star destroyer yet tiny ship itself doesn't cut through star destroyer it is pushing.

mass x momentum

yes but what if the tensile stress of the hull was less than the force done by the tiny ship?

>mass x momentum
>mass x mass x velocity
what did you mean by this?

because it looks cool!!!!!!
*throws bucket of popcorn in face*

If we are to assume the rebel ship was reinforced with structural integrity that which could press against a destroyer and move it, are we to assume the structural integrity of the destroyer's point of contact with the rebel ship is so reinforced that it would withstand the several-thousand tonnes of force being pushed against said point of contact?

>youre

I think you are still in 5th grade.

is English not your first language?

It was not.

ferst*

If you are gonna complain about space physics, you can start at the impossible space ship design since the episode IV.

Yes, because there's nothing pushing back against the rebel ship, so there's no reason it should punch through the star destroyer.
It's essentially doing what a tug boat does to a much bigger ship, but pushing instead of pulling.

why?

>complaining about science in Star Wars
You are aware space combat would look completely different?

Good job Einstein, ever wonder why you have to PULL the ship, and not PUSH it?

Of course, but that doesn't mean you have to drive the stupidity level to infinity

There's a reason it's pulling the bigger ship and not just pushing against it.

because """"Hammerhead""""

>pulling=pushing
lmao at you

Yet here you are complaining about tug boats in zero g

retard

so pushing is the same as pulling? that is what my post said.
Can you read?

>both ships dont have engines anymore
>one ship pusing into another ship just pushes the other ship

>when the big ship touches the other ship instead of pushing it it cutes it in half

this pisses me off

does it matter? you're just salvaging a win. There was nothing wrong with that scene. I bet you like TFA too.

impulse and intertia

>still cant read
you must be a fucking retard

Star Wars is however so divorced from reality that I'm not sure what do you mean by "stupidity". Laws of physics are barely present.

honestly i thought the ship was designed to be a battering ram, i mean it is called a hammer head. i assumed that it had some sort of shield on the front that could act like a repulsion field

He's right to
e=mc2

It's actually
>mass x (mass x velocity)
so it does actually work

thanks for playing. find another parroted criticism from RLM next time.

It's not zero g though. The planets gravity is acting on the ship. Do you think satellites are "floating" in orbit? No, they are in a perpetual free fall to earth. The amount of thrust that ship must have it's a wonder why they didn't fly a few of those straight into the deathstar III.

If I sit on the hood of a car, it can gently accelerate quite a bit before I'll fall off. If I'm standing in front of it and it's already in motion I'll be smashed off it when it hits

prove it

>tiny ship doesn't have enough mass to push big ship
>mass x (mass x velocity) so it does actually work

But the Hammerhead made contact with the Star Destroyer at low speed, they only revved up their engines and increased speed when the two ships were already touching

I can't, I'm not retarded enough to be able to make you understand the retardedness of the discussion

>mass x (mass x velocity)
still makes zero sense

you guys are such fuckingnerds lol

>made contact with the Star Destroyer at low speed
>Somehow the tiny ship can push the other one anyway

>hammerhead rams into star destroyer
ok sure, its armored for ramming
>hammerhead can move star destroyer
ok sure, the star destroyer is disabled, and the hammerhead isnt moving it very fast
>hammerhead drives star destroyer into other star destroyer with enough force to cleave it in half, without the hammerhead itself crushing through the star destroyer
wut

the only weak argument i can think for it, is that the hammerhead is pressing almost directly into presumably the two strongest shear surfaces on the star destroyer (its armored top and bottom sides), but its still whack

>particle physics equations
>spaceship collisions

I didn't mind the sequence except for the second ship getting sliced in half like the first ship was folded over 9,000 times.
I think it would have worked better if it was treated more like a desperate last ditch effort. I mean instead of having it me some special ship apparently designed to do this, make it a suicide run. Have the captain of a corvette or even the mon calamari ship sound the alarm to abandon ship and stays behind with a skeleton crew. Have him shout some order about all power to forward shields and engines. Gives a "it was an honor to serve" speech and then they kamikazi the ships to take down the shields.

how do you think the mass of the thrusters propel the much larger ship they are attached to and how is that any different?

sorry meant for

>implying spaceships aren't made out of particles

if some one is pushing a car. it might movie
if that car touches another car it will not blow up

>That garbage redesign of a cool Kotor era ship thrown in even though it's nowhere to be found in any of the OT movies for NO REASON
>literally chopping a star destroyer in half with another star destroyer

This movie pisses me off every time I think about it.

it's not the same as those, it's a different ship from TOR I think

Because you're accelerating with the car, slowly.
When the car hits you energy is transferred in a much shorter time period on a rather narrow area.

>gentle press hands up to car
>proceed to push the car
>begin building up speed
>car now moving at considerable speed
>rams another car, not gently, not by slowly accelerating it but with a lot of jerk
>somehow retard who post about movies all day don't understand this

how do tugboats move tankers

I know we collectively agreed that the Forever War story predicts how space warfare will be conducted. However in starwars. Why didn't the alliance just strap shields and an engine to a tiny moon and launch it at the deathstar. Starwars space battles don't really make any sense beyond sci fi ww2

TOTALLY
FRICKIN
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>car now moving at considerable speed
thats the catch, it wasnt THAT FAST. maybe the animators were shit but it looked like realy slow 3,

>people glossing over the fact that Star destroyers would have thousands of Delta-V in RCS to be able to maneuver it around at all
>mfw sci-fantasy cucks trying to make us think a ship orders of magnitude more massive couldn't come up with the energy to correct it's positioning
Just fire off the left most engine on the star destroyer.

mass x velocity

Same reason most fa/tv/irgins would get beat up by a midget.

objects in huge space always seem to be moving slow as fuck

>redesign
>not the same

Yeah, I got that part. Either way it looks like garbage.

v8 vs v6

Because it's cool. You'd think it was cool too if you were less autistic about physics in blockbuster movies.

No one who browses tv is actually a virgin

>because it's cool
Debatable.

There is literally nothing wrong with the scene

Why is there sound in space? Because it's not that kind of movie.

Yes there is. The problem is pic related can't let impressionable faggots enjoy good films anymore
