Lot's of millennials pretend they have 90s nostalgia.

Nothing is forever user.

Slowly we rot.

same tv shows and movies

the 90s was prosperous. it was almost like the 50s. we came up with the most happy, prosperous era and all the videogames, entertainment, technology went with it. the rest got the post 9/11,the economic downturn, the sjw cancer. We were lucky to have a tiny ass pocket where things weren't fucked up.

No internet to speak of
Cell phones were uncommon.
People actually had real hobbies,
People enjoyed playing outside.
People were nicer in general.

90's were rad.

You didn't grow up to be a failure yet.

Lots of millennials were alive in the 90's.

>tfw already 25

That is the saddest thing I've seen all day. The poor man, hope he has a bit of peace before he can see her again.

only diffrence was not that easy access to internet. TV/cinema/VHS was pretty much only medium. noone was able to quickly check reviews, so we were eating every shit movie studios were feeding us. open your eyes

>we came up with the most happy, prosperous era and all the videogames, entertainment, technology went with it. the rest got the post 9/11,the economic downturn, the sjw cancer. We were lucky to have a tiny ass pocket where things weren't fucked up.

The change was so fucking sudden too. Do you think that will be a cause for generational friction to come?

>People were nicer in general.

This is what I miss about the 90s so much. Everyone it's so fucking superficial and up their own ass now. I blame social media.

Welcome to midlife crisis. The stage where you have trouble adapting to modern life. Do you still listen to Stone Temple Pilots instead of One Republic?

I was 4 in 1990 and 13 in 1999, it's almost like it was my childhood or something.

>tfw will NEEEEVERRRRR relive 1999

What a glorious year it was.

Also, late-90s/early-00s internet was fun -- with the exception of connection-speed.

>with the exception of connection-speed.

Thinking back, that actually made it better. Because you had to actually put effort into finding something online so it stopped us just vegetating watching YouTube videos and browsing bullshit memes for hours a day.

While that is true, I just hated waiting for a page/image to load and then freeze out and I'd have to reload it. Though, it'd usually just start where it left off.

There was a LOT more variety in websites, though -- especially with Angelfire/Geocities running rampant.

And when you DID find something, it often was something genuinely interesting and weird.

But then normies ruined the Internet. This place used to be literally just for all the freaks and geeks. A paraside.

The 70's and 80's were pretty awesome too. The 90's started all of the PC shit.

80s had the best pop music, toys and blockbuster movies

Early internet was better when it was just a nerd clubhouse. Smartphones letting everyone online has turned it into highschool politics and it sucks.

>Reddit nostalgia thread

youtube.com/watch?v=JlmyWLyEEvw

this is fucking dumb. you have like 5 years left, stop being a sappy loser

You're a fucking idiot. Millenial Gen starts at the 80's.

70s born fag here with a protip:

You only remember the 90s so fondly because you were kids and didn't have to really think about all the fucked up shit that was going on. The LA Riots, Oklahoma City bombing, numerous civil wars and attempted genocides, political scandals, corporate scandals.

The reason you're yearning for the era of your youth is that you're older now and you have to face things. Take off the rose colored glasses and stop masturbating to Saved by the Bell.

The 90s were total shit. Blockbuster was fucking garbage. They used to censor their movies. They never had anything but top 10 shit and kiddie films. Real movie fans went to mom & pop stores.

The 90s was the start of aggressive PC culture. We also had to see that cunt Hillary Clinton trying to run the country even though she was just the first lady.

The music was terrible, the movies were terrible, the video games were terrible. The 90s were shit all around.

>The 90's
>Literally just some edgelord cunt like Kurt Cobain crying because his parents got divorced.
>Everyone wearing ugly clothes and acting stupid
>Muh grunge culture!

The whole decade should be erased from history.

>remember the 90s
Not really ya old cunt.

Every decade's kids do this. Pine for the decade they grew up in and forget all the bad shit. You're just saying shit everybody already knows.

...

Same could be said of comic/ anime conventions and things like medieval times

>tfw didn't get to go to Blockbuster until about 2002 because we always went to Video Station, which only let you rent games for two days, but when PS2 came out, they charged a 500 dollar deposit for PS2 games, so we stopped going there.
Went to Blockbuster and they let you rent games for five days. It was so much better.

As a kid the 90s was fun, seemed a bit dull for adults though

This shit still happens to me. Yay overpriced shit Canadian internet

Early 90's were the best, if you were old enough to experience pre-95 then it was amazing.

projection and confirmation bias mostly

>80s had the best pop music

YES
Also the best Metal

Fucking roastie snapped this over her shoulder>:(
No man will ever love you like he loved that woman even after she was old and grey.

Anime conventions used to be cool? When was that? (And what's "medieval times"?)

I unironically think internet ruind my life

You must be 18 to post here

I remember my mom giving birth to me in 1999

Ever notice how it's often agreed upon on Sup Forums that everything went to shit in 2007 (Great Recession, iPhones, Tumblr founded, rise of Facebook, Big Bang Theory popularizing "cool nerds" and "geek chic"). And Malcolm in the Middle had its last episode in 2006? This is not a coincidence.

Malcom was one of the last pieces of culture from before the current era. It instilled values in us as Americans, values that we lost in a sea of smartphones and social media after it ended.

...

>last DBZ movie aired in the US

Until Toriyama remembered how to make money again.

2006 was the last good year.
Oilers made the finals, I got accepted to College, got laid, quit my job and just enjoyed myself for half a year... then it all went to shit.

>remember the 90s. why was it so magical?
You literally sound like this caricature/parody from that Ukinojoe video.

>People were nicer in general.
Not even remotely true. Everyone in the 90s was a smug, self righteous asshole. It was a very hostile decade. Everyone was angry for some reason.

Plus all these foreigners. Seeing a non native English speaker on the internet used to be a bizarre, noteworthy event that would derail any other conversation.

Because globalism makes everything the same.

Everyone was nice in the 90s because everyone was rich in the 90s

Also it was the last year where the economy in the U.S. was good, before the 2007-2008 financial crisis

Office Space came out in 1999

Do you honestly think the kind of environment it made fun of was "fun" and "magical" for people who were actually adults at that time? You were just a child, of course you found a time where you had no problems to be magical.

Definitely. Kids that don't remember 9/11 do not get along with college kids that do. Pre-9/11 kids are a lot more optimistic - they go to college to chase their dreams, even if it's a pipe dream. Kids that never knew the world before 9/11 are much bigger realists; they go to community college for STEM even if they hate it.

Speaking of 2007 changing things, I've noticed an odd phenomenon with people my age(22). Most people in my graduating class(2013) relate to Ben 10(2005, mostly the first 2 seasons), Avatar the last airbender, and American dragon: jake long with our childhoods, albeit our late childhoods.

But shows like Chowder, Flapjack, and Back to the Barnyard, which came out just a mere 1-2 years later, people my age see as 'garbage' or something that was not for us, but for the graduating classes a few years younger than us.

It seems like anything that debuted in the 2005-2006 school year was the last to have an impact on our childhoods, while anything that debuted in the 2006-2007 school year and later was not part of people my age's childhoods what so ever.

People in the 80's were assholes also.

This, being an adult has always been shit

It's weird how we live in such a strange and unique time, but nobody has made any good art about it. Everything feels so gimmicky and low effort now.

Well you can see right there the difference is the mainstream media didn't support it.

And PC in the 90's was more "Burger King Kid's Club" style inclusiveness and way less "FUCK DRUMPF AND FUCK WHITE PEOPLE!" vindictiveness.

Being a millennial by definition means you grew up in the 90's you retard.

If things like this, Magic school bus, or Captaiin planet came out today, you know Sup Forums and Sup Forums would be screaming that it's white genocide

that's why there's so much performance art

>nobody has made any good art about it
what kind of good art was made about the 90s and 80s?

2007 cemented it. Outside of the internet, things had gone to shit as early as 2002.
The life portrayed in Office Space isn't too bad.

Last I checked, people could afford a house and a family while working a shitty job in the 90s. Now you need to be a CEO of a fucking company to be able to afford that. Adults had it great in the 70s 80s and 90s.

My friends and I would get to rent 2 movies. Then we'd get Chinese or pizza and try to stay up all night drinking jolt cola that some kid managed to smuggle in.

The Internet was a mistake

>tfw SNL hasn't been funny since 2002

>Tiny Furniture is the defining film of this generation
When did it all go so wrong?

Yeah, being PC was a joke. It was around, sure, but it was hardly a thing.
No one would even notice.

Bill Clinton destroyed the housing market in the 90's, which lead to the problems we have today.

Let's see..

>economy not in the shitter
>technology only in its infant stage
>VHS, flip phones, slow internet, shit computers, lit consoles
>society was good
>no retarded welfare policies or refugees

90's malaise was pretty fucking weak. It's all about "Well I have a family, and a home, and a well paying job, and lots of fun little toys and gadgets to play with, but my life just isn't FULFILLING enough!" American Beauty has aged terribly since the 90's for this reason.

That's because banks were giving out subprime loans like free candy. The credit crisis started in the 90s.

Question for 90s/early 2000s kids: which Sabrina was cuter? Left or right?

but it was big Bush that prevented derivatives regulation which led to the housing bubble being so large

I guess you didn't use IRC. Or visit forums. Or did basically nothing social...

The housing bubble was created by the government.

Everything that has ever existed in the universe is only temporary

Caroline Rhea

Used to jerk off to her giant tits before I had internet porn

Yes, good post. What made people feel alienated from society in the 90's seems like kid's stuff nowadays.

We're entering the Caeserist phase of our civilization. Next, America should experience a massive Protestantism revival, followed shortly by the death of western civilization. China, Russia, Singapore and Korea will then pick up the pieces left behind.

It hasn't been possible for a middle income family to afford a house without taking on unreasonable amount debt since the early 70s.

Just because you could get a loan for a house doesn't mean you could AFFORD a house.

>When you start a war that kills millions for no reason but no one gives a shit anymore because the current president wants to enforce immigration laws, said he grabbed a pussy, video games have clevage in them and youtubers are saying nigger live on stream.

what the fuck can we do with bush anymore? hes literally out of office and can't be charged with war crimes

>Russia
I'm glad I'm a Slavfag

Are you me?

>millions

I hate people with nostalgia. You can look back on your childhood fondly without being obnoxious, unless you're looking back at the 90s, apparently. Just the gap in tech even from 2007 to 2017 is so stark, it makes the 90s seem like a nightmare. I turned into a fully functional 25 year old, so my feelings might be different, I don't have to stare backwards 20 years to force myself to smile

Belarus will be best country to live in, they have blonde girls and don't have a ton of useless violent Ukrainians or middle easterners hanging around.

Edgy trash music and artwork

>but it was hardly a thing.
Yeah it was, but not like now. 90s were okay, but it was the rise of black culture that kinda sullies it. 70s-80s were superior

Russia should just annex Belarus and most of Ukraine

Are you fucking retarded? When do you think September was most popular?

we ain't done yet.

>When do you think September was most popular?
September? WTF are you talking about?

are you high or just incredibly stupid?

The oldest Millennial is over 35 now, you filthy Millennial.

Why would Putin want a bunch of violent Africa-tier savages from Ukraine? They only took in places like Dagestan and Chechnya because they're too shit to be stable countries on their own. If the hohols want their own country to run around and be nuisances, all the better for them. Putin just took Crimea because it was the only land of real value in the entire country.

Belarus will probably willingly join Russia after Lukashenko dies, Putin wouldn't want to take it over because Lukashenko's Soviet wannabe leadership produces resources that Russia needs in an optimal way.
