Can someone explain to me why this is considered a good performance? I was 3 when the movie came out and I honestly don't understand. Was it close to the comics or something?

Nah but at the time people loved seeing Jack ham it up. It's a bit dated but I still think it's in like with Tim Burton's style.

HE'S EVIL AND HE LOVES IT, WHATS NOT TO GET YOU FUCK

Why did Burton give him a cheap Kuchisake-Onna smile?

At least he tried to look and act like the Joker, unlike Ledger and Leto

Leto's not Joker, he's Robin who lives through the idea that Joker will haunt Batman even after he's dead.

Because Seezer Romero was the only other person to portray the character in the Adam West show and this was Jack Nicholson playing the Joker in the first live action Batman movie that attempted to be dark.

>Was it close to the comics or something?

Not remotely. Tim Burton prided himself on having never read any of the comics....for better or worse.

It's fun as fuck, but not in the MCU lel randumb way. He was also creepy as fuck.

OP here. Thanks, I think I get it now when taking Romero as a reference point.

People always praise performances that capture mania.

it's a glasgow smile or a chelsea grin ya bloody jap

>he becomes the joker by falling in a vat of acid
>batman actually kills people like he did in the earliest comics
It was accurate in some ways.

NEW AND IMPROVED JOKER PRODUCTS, WITH THE NEW SECRET INGREDIENT... SMILEX.

UH OH, HE DON'T LOOK HAPPY. HE'S BEEN USING BRAND X!

Because his dialogue was 10/10.

>Was it close to the comics or something?
Why would that matter? No one reads the comics.

holy shit I need to rewatch this
fucking classic

ALL HAIL THE NEW KING IN TOWN

one of the first times an actor took the portrayal of a comic book villain seriously

Bob... you... are my number one... guy.

ya wouldn't hit a guy with glasses would ya?

Jack Nicholson probably didn't take the role too seriously but he at least earned the massive payday he got from it unlike Brando.

"You look fine."

"I didn't ask."

WRONG
Brando earned every penny and he wasn't even trying.

Never rub another man's rhubarb.

How would Marlel handle this scene?

Why does no one post anything from the mime scene?

Can somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in, where a man dressed up as a *bat* gets all of my press? This town needs an enema!

>show the lady why you wear the mask

The pen is truly mightier than the sword.

Hearty kek.
