How do I get my boyfriend into comicbooks, cartoons too for that matter?

How do I get my boyfriend into comicbooks, cartoons too for that matter?

He's a turbo normie that sees it all as "dumb nerd shit", which is kinda true, but I want him to see there's more to it than that

Why don't you fuck instead?

Start with Walking Dead.

Why is he your boyfriend if he disrespects you like that

If you're a grill, dress up as Starfire.

I used to play this game back in the days when Livejournal was a relevant thing with my commenters:

dave-littler.livejournal.com/121007.html#comments

I would get people to name three unrelated works of fiction which they enjoy and then come up with three comic book series which they might enjoy based upon that.

(Also it entertains me to see myself having to explain what The Walking Dead was, before the TV series came out and made the process of explaining it to normies meaningless)

What sort of fiction do you know that he's really into? It may be possible to make some suggestions which can act as gateway drugs.

>t. a virgin who believes that a relationship is all about sex and not having a loveable best friend with extended benefits

I suggest you give him introductory stuff like Batman or Superman, show him the Snyder movies and some of the animations. These helped me get into comics.

OP literally said that her BF thinks that comics are nerdy, he didn't disrespect her or call her names.

>implying anyone who visits this board has ever had sex
lol

>her

Oh boy.

If it's not the case, the OP pic certainly gives room to forgive the mistake since it certainly bespeaks heterosexuality.

Not that it matters; the same approach ought to work either way.

There isn't more to it than that. Listen to him. He's right. Comics ARE dumb.

Excuse me, OP, did you just loot this thread from /tg/?

You have to find a gateway material. Preferably something he already has some interest in. Then you gradually ease him into it. Like, starting out with cape flick films and then if he shows interest maybe give him a trade paperback or something. Test the waters little by little.

It would appear so. My advice still stands.

I tried it there too but the thread went awry

Depends on where his interests lie, to be honest.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

>people taking this thread seriously

jiff related

Are you assuming xir gender?

This thread is fucking retarded.

OP is actually a guy? Well okay, I assumed they were a she because of the Starfire fan art.

i have no idea what you mean by that gif

>show him the Snyder movies

No.

Stop recomending shit, user. Are you trolling?

No? It's introductory-level Batman media and they're pretty good in my opinion.

There are no girls on the internet user.

>cute nerdy girl
>dating chad
*reeeees respectfully toward you*

My boyfriend was the same, but it was more that he's a contrarian than it being dumb nerd shit. You have to try recommending stuff that is very similar to stuff he already likes.

fuck you nigger

>dating a normie
Why? Normies are dumb and boring.

Recomend Nolan bats them, instead of Snydershit.

Most non-normies on Sup Forums are equaly boring, but more stupid and childish than normies.

Oh right, I actually wanted to type in Nolanverse in my original post but forgot for some reason.

Derp, my bad.

Okay, OP has not interacted in any meaningful way with anyone who's offered any suggestion, so I'm going to declare this a bait thread, but even as bait this is pretty weaksauce. It's not even outrageous or controversial. This is some low-tier trolling.

I'm stuck at work, won't be able to post in lenght till lunchbreak

you normieloving whore
you could have chosen a fellow nerd that shared your interests and respected you but nooooooooooo you too had to thirst after big alpha cock and now youre stuck with a dudebro that doesnt understand you and only cares about your moist holes

>How do I get my girlfriend out of comicbooks, cartoons too for that matter?
>She's a turbo nerd that sees it all as "comfy nerd shit", which is kinda true, but I want her to see there's barely anything more to it than that

>Especially since she's one of those fake nerd grrrls that only got into it within the last 5 years because her other friends followed that BBT nerd power trend

why do people think that OP is a girl

Comic books and cartoons are kind of geeky. Especially if you're in it for "comic books and cartoons" in general, as opposed to specific good examples of such.

That is: there's a bit of a difference between reading Superman or watching Wander Over Yonder and, say, reading Maus or watching Inside Out.

As for in general, different people have different hobbies and there's nothing saying that every couple or every batch of friends needs to have the exact same set. Just focus on the stuff you're both interested in when together and do the stuff you enjoy when by yourself, and let him enjoy his stuff when he's alone.

[bowl of eggs Intensifies]

Just show him porn of video game/comic/anime characters and work it in from there. That's how I got into geek stuff. If that fails, he's a homo. You're welcome.

>using a gif from the shitty Rurouni Kenshin OAV

user, you can do better than that. I'm an Kenshin autist, and you triggered my autism.

Because women.

>ITT

We had this pasta on /tg/ yesterday. You guys are falling for a bate.

I know, right?
Sup Forums is supposed to have lots of girls and openminded guys, not the usual array of bitter neckbeards in their 30s

What is Starfire's expression in this pic meant to convey?

Seriously? You're doing this on Sup Forums now?

Comics = neckbeards
Cartoons = manchildren
Anime = cool alt guys

kek rewards your autism and multiple tabs open with dubs, congrats

Sup Forums get the fuck out of here

I remember a thread with the exact same wording on /tg/ from a couple days ago.
Shame on you OP, you're not even original.

>show him the Snyder movies
Op isn't looking to KILL interest in comics, user.

>I'm not actually retarded

You're not fooling anyone, user.

Try sitting him through some animated movies. Flashpoint, batman year one, under the red hood. Rebirth is really good for beginners, Red hood and the outlaws is beast. The way I got into it was by going to a comic con and meeting some of the artists and buying cool stuff, but that may not be for everyone. Mind you that DC and MARVEL are not the only comics out there either, cape stuff might not be his interest. If all else fails, Conan. Everyone loves Conan.

>Speaking the holy name of the God Kek without capitalizing

bump

I mean, if he thinks it's all geeky superhero stuff, you could show him some Indie comics. Hellboy, Dredd, Maus and so on. With superhero stuff, you should see what kind of movies he likes and give him comics similar to his interest.

Beat him about the head and neck and with a firm voice say "You'll read it and you'll like it".

>show him capeshit or whatever else is popular
fuck that. What are his interests? Find comics that are related to his interests and you will find a winner. Personally I hate superheros, so people showing me supes or batman wouldn't help me get into it.

You have to suggest things based on what he's already into. He sounds like he's just insecure though, and fears being considered a nerd or a weirdo for his interests.

If he loved you he would be willing to try things that you like sometimes.

Normies don't like femdom

Hold off sex until he reads comics ya like.

"I'm sexually active female in my prime age and you will never ever have sex with me, since you are too bitter for your own good" -face

Recomend him some graphic novels that are badass. He's a normie, so he'll eat Batman up. Also, if he watches the movies, ease him into the source material gently with things you KNOW he'll like.

Also, props on just coming out and saying you're a girl. Good luck.

Best Girl.

Dump him and get a nice Sup Forums boyfriend.
ASL?
I can think of at least one far, far better reason why you will never have sex with her user.

lol

That's actually a good bridge for normies.

How normie we talking here? We kinda need more input here, y'know.

Sorry guys, it's been a crazy busy day, barely had time to have lunch and he's picking me up from work for dinner and a movie. Don't like pulling out my phone when I'm with him(it's rude) so I got a few spare minutes.

Anyway his tastes: He hates anime, hates superheroes as a concept(even Batman and Punisher) but is more open to superhero movies and the netflix shows, is a Walking Dead showfag. As far as cartoons go he brushes most off as kiddy crap, Simpsons and Family Guy as unfunny crap, likes South Park and Archer, really really loves Bojack Horseman.
Doesn't read much, likes sports. More of a dudebro or a chad if we're being technical.

Is he intelligent and wants material that will challenge his mind or easily digestable fun stories? Either way try some graphic novels. Stuff like asterios polyp for the first category and maybe corto Maltese or wilson for the second one, though to be honest even showing him the highest quality of stuff won't guarentee that real personality click and he might just never be interested

What comic and issue is your image from? I want to follow the New!Bats/Old!Supes friendship as it forms, and I dropped off before N52 Supes died. What have I missed so far?

Just tell him that you'll take it up the butt if he at least gives comics a chance

>Don't like pulling out my phone when I'm with him(it's rude)
10/10 girlfriend, that normie doesn't deserve you

if the guy doesn't like reading then I'll honestly say you probably have little to no chance. I think (and I could be wrong) there are people that can not deal with media the require a second layer of thought to understand them.

Reading in general you have to be active enough in it to form your own images most of the time and in comics you need to know how to work with time and space as you move from frame to frame. And you have to be able to do that before you can even get into it.

After that consider how does he relate to the things he does like? Can he enjoy actively instead of passively? There are people that like South Park and Archer and then there are those of us who take the characters and story in and think about possible meanings and interpretations after (and while) viewing them.

I know plenty of people out there that like those shows but really see nothing outside what was shown on the screen and never really think about it later.

tl;dr he just not have the skill set to get into it
