I was squarely against Toffee being related to the Butterfly's. All I said was people were assuming without cause that Eclipsa was Moon's mother, yet the show was silent on that. I was told that the tapestries were clearly showing a direct line of succession. Yet today we learn that Eclipsa is Moon's great great great grandmother, blowing out those theory fucks.

there were a bunch drawn during the hiatus. I only saved this one but it's about an AU where Star and Marco were reconditioned at St. Olga's. Star became a proper princess and Marco became Sol, a brainwashed cyborg bodyguard to Star. The comics detailed some of their brainwashing and some were of them back on earth. They were great. IDK why i didn't save the others.

My only reasoning for that was that having her be really distantly related makes the family tree way more complicated than it probably needs to be for a show like this. I don't think I was self-righteous/totally sure about it though, so much as saying it can pretty easily be assumed, given that there were two queens shown in between a known great-great-grandmother and Moon.
If we're being real Eclipsa NOT being Moon's mother actually makes more sense if we still want to go with Toffee being her son/lover/protégé/what-the-fuck ever.

LoK tried to subvert that trope and it ended up with the side character love interest pretty girl getting completely crushed and dumped for no real reason while the MC ultimately got the guy just by being the more relevant character, which made Korra and Mako look like terrible people and ultimately it all ended up with asspulled lesbians.
