Did anyone here find Richie annoying...

Did anyone here find Richie annoying? I heard a few people in the theater sighing and muttering whenever he said something. I thought he was kinda funny. But the gazebo kid was great. The worst was the Jewish kid, I forgot his name but he was a terrible actor.

I thought most of the kids they cast were bad. Movies like this featuring an ensemble cast of kids going on adventures and solving grown-up mysteries depend on the gang to be good. Think Goonies, Monster Squad, Stranger Things, etc.. etc... No of the kids here were all that good or memorable or interesting, aside from maybe the fat one. None of them were really memorable characters.

I didn't laugh at all at his jokes but the people in my theater all did. They weren't good but neither were they cringey. They were repetitive in a way you'd expect from a child.

Eddie > Richie.

>Mfw "Derry started out as a beaver trapping town"
>"It still is, am I right? *High five*"

I thought he was supposed to be annoying and I was laughing every time he opened his mouth

i thought they were all pretty good. Especially the larger kid and the girl. she's goin places for sure.

>the 'larger' kid

you are correct.

I have to disagree with you, Eddie, Richie and Bev (kinda) definitely stood out more than the other kids. I liked Ben because I was once that new fat kid on the block and he was a nice guy. I think Mike was only in the movie so they could have that gun in the end and like I said earlier, the Jewish kid sucked.

The Hamburger Helper line also got me. I liked him in Stranger Things, but he didn't do much, I'm glad this role is so different.

Everyone was laughing in my theatre, but I'm in Australia and the peak of humour over here is saying fuck words and talking about dicks.

Anybody seen Richie? Anybody know why Richie did Pennywise?

I laughed hard af so did a lot of the theater

>the list goes as long as my wang
>that's not saying much
It's not clever at all but the genuineness of it made it kek worthy.

Richie was great.

>"Why did I have to pull the short straw? You guys are lucky this wasn't a dick measuring contest."

...

he was supposed to be annoying... so the actor did his job right. all the other kids kept telling him to pipe it down so much it became a running gag between them.

this kid was fucking hilarious, if you don't think so then you have a stick up your ass

He was the best part of the movie T B H

it was worse when he did it during points that were supposed to be scart

He spent half the summer training on Street Fighter and yet all he could do was mash two buttons. He wasn't even performing any specials or anything

Capcucks, explain

All the bantz between the kids was cringe to me. Way too over the top. Seemed like a bad South park episode.

I still thought it was decent overall though

I thought he was hilarious, the part we he steals that guys instrument and attempts to play it is gold.

It was late 80's banter and people probably got offended by it.

How did people react to the racism and almost rapist father?

Finn Wolfhard was fucking great in this movie. The kids were the only entertaining thing about the movie, honestly. The horror sucked.

I loved Eddie, too. Those two together were hilarious.

The bantz between the kids was the best part of the movie. It was like the shit me and my friends would say to each other back then
>dick jokes
>I fucked your mom/sister
>oh wow this smells like your mom
It came so natural between the boys that it caught me off guard and I found myself laughing at the dumbest shit.

I sincerely think gazebo kid is a phenominal actor for his age. He was great every time he was on screen. Stranger Things kid was ok,

Oh yeah Eddie was great too. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a coming of age film with the same kids, basically IT minus the horror elements. They way they worked off one another, specifically Eddie and Richie like you said, was fantastic. All such good actors

Gazeboy a best

>That Jewish kid
More like YID amirite?!

One of the only zingers Stan got :(

>Not crouching and using uppercut over and over again to beat your opponent

I actually thought the kids were honestly pretty decent, even by 80s movie standards. The fat kid was surprisingly cool for someone that had to play a timid chubby dork. I enjoyed the movie as well, desu. I only had a couple nit-picky things with it that had nothing to do with the kids themselves, just the direction.

>Good use of dutch angles in some shots, bad in a lot of others.
>Bully could have not been possessed by Pennywise and been more interesting for it.
>Forced plot by splitting them up after already being split up - could have made it more organic.

That was it though, just those tiny bits. Surprisingly good movie.

Best kid

>Walks into old house
>"I suppose you guys wanna start measuring dicks"
wtf...

The guy who plays the chubby kid seems actually really layed back in real life. He seems to be the most comfortable speaking in interviews

Even that wouldve been better than how Richie was playing

It wasn't really anything to get offended about. It's not like they said anything really over the top.
>How did people react to the racism
I'm black and I felt the movie was pretty soft on the racism. It just seemed like they didn't like Mike because he was home schooled or some shit. I'm actually surprised they didn't call him a nigger or say anything about him being black.

>almost rapist father
A few people cheered when Bev killed her dad, so there's that.

Oi vey! Da flute is bein played by'a shiksa! Ids loik anudda shoah!

>Good use of dutch angles in some shots
Opening worked really well

>"I'm black, so I get to decide what's racist"

I was thinking the same thing, they have great comedic timing for such young actors. I'd definitely want to see those two star in a comedy together.

When it was like lurching towards him in the haunted house and pretending to bite his hand it was the scariest part of the movie, cos the kids anxious anyway but still likeable

TAKE MY WIFE, PLEASE!

That's not what my post was implying at all but here's your (you).

Because the first Street Fighter is unresponsive garbage.
2 is when the series found its footing.

First movie in a long while that I want to go see in theatres a second time I'm not a shill I swear

You know I just realized, but does he have a lazy eye? I thought maybe it was just them doing something with Pennywise.

go with mates. it was real good fun.

Finn has great comedic timing and the dynamic between him and Jack is great.

It's a shame that they probably won't use any of that talent in Stranger things though, his character in this season is apparently just moping about his waifu

It was an attempt to add le marvel quips to the film

Note: EVERY film now needs marvel quips, a very specific kind of dialog, to be a success

I want to go see it in theaters for a FIRST time, but I want a crowd.

I wonder if Friday or Saturday would be better?

>go with mates

Yes, it was really creepy how he kept talking about dicks and vag. Richie is supposed to actually be funny, it is important because he later becomes a professional comedian

*the only

ok, make sure you're in a crowded theatre then.

I'm not sure people have said it's a design choice but who knows

Saturday for sure, if you go Friday night you'll be surrounded by teenagers. My local cinemark has discount Tuesdays ($9 for Large Drink+Popcorn combo, $6.25 tickets) so Tuesdays are usually packed as well

Yeah, his eyes are wonky in real life. I read somewhere that he can actually control his wandering eye and they used that in the movie. I'll see if I can find the article.

Will you be my mate

He didn't even imply this you fucking moron.

It's exactly how his character acts in the book you fucking moron. Go watch le Zack Snyder le kino you fucking Sup Forumseddit subhuman.

You didn't think it was racist that they implied the reason Mikes house burned down was because they were black?

does anyone have any orange slices? XDD

I like Finn, but I didn't think he did much in Stranger Things. He didn't stand out as much as he did here. He's still a good actor and a cool kid, but I'd like to see him in roles where he does more.

>richie is obsessed with dick in the book

Fuck off retard, the dialog was shit

They didn't add "Marvel quips", Richie becomes a comedian when he's an adult you fucking idiot.

He's supposed to make actual jokes, like a comedian, not like he's playing Xbox Live

I never said that. Please re-read my post.

He didn't imply that he made dick jokes in the book dumbass. The dick, vag, and your mom shit is to emulate what young kids in the 80's would say to insult each other, you inbred.

Refer to

Nobody talked like that in the 80s, faggot. It's Xbox live memecringe humor

I'll fucking kiss you if you keep talking to me like that

Rewatch the tv movie, the dialog is way superior. Richie comes off as a thespian, not some Xbox kiddo. What's his comedic act going to be in the sequel? Dick and vag jokes for an hour?

Read the book m8. Henry basically screams nigger in his face 20 times. Actually made me feel bad for black people in the 50s before they went all victim complex. No one deserves that treatment

I warned you. C'mere.

his belly ain't the only thing that's large

>I heard a few people in the theater sighing and muttering whenever he said something.

No you didn't

>Dialog

lel

That's literally the character. Go back and watch the TV movie. Were they also trying to shoehorn in 'le marvel quips' 20 odd years before Marvel Studios was a thing? Was King trying to insert 'le Marvel quips' in his book some 30 odd years before Marvel Studios was a thing? It makes me upset that people as stupid as you are allowed to live and vote.

Lol tl;dr

His jokes were just so shallow, but they felt like he was a kid really trying to make his friends laugh. That's the best part about it. It's like a porn scene where you can tell the girl is really kinda falling for the guy when she breaks character. Weird metaphor, but the genuine nature of his humor among 13 year olds was what was really funny. Not what he was actually saying. The context of a kid being frightened, but also having to keep his friends tight by making wise cracks is something perhaps only people who grew up with a similar friend group could understand. That's why everybody who laughed in the theater when he made jokes was abnormal functional human being who had a great childhood. Everyone in the theater who asked themselves "that's not funny what the fuck?" or "Why are these people laughing?" Are mostly sheltered kids or they grew up losers.

He's supposed to be kind of annoying. That's his character. He was pretty funny though.

Correction: a normal not abnormal

Damn, that's the perfect way to put it. I loved that they didn't write him as a kid saying shit only adults would find funny, he's cracking jokes like an annoying 13 year old would. Great delivery, though. I loved Finn's performance.

course bruvva

I dont get it

Beaver is another word for vagina.

>Eddie, Richie and Bev (kinda)
Bev was leaps and bounds above the others in terms of acting. Bill is next, then Eddie, then Richie, then ben, mike, then stan.

>if you didn't like him making jokes every 40 seconds you're a loser
great argument.

>yfw Richie becomes a pro Street Fighter player as an adult with a successful Youtube channel that pulls in megabux
How likely is it that this will happen?

In the book, he becomes a comedian. If the sequel takes place in 2015 (or 2016) that wouldn't be too far off to see him running a comedic YouTube channel or something.

>this might actually happen
>there's going to be instagram shots and youtube videos and ubers
setting the first film in the 80s was a mistake. the 2nd film is going to be even worse than this one. modern day horror films cna't be scary, or even well made.

>the part we he steals that guys instrument and attempts to play it is gold.

agreed and it felt unscripted, like something they came up with on the day.

Let's see, Richie has nothing to do here, maybe he's in the background trying to blow this nigga's trumpet.

>it is important because he later becomes a professional comedian

He becomes a disc jockey in the book, not a comedian. You're thinking of the miniseries.

My shitty movie theater has dim projector bulbs, so I couldn't see anything that was happening in the sewer scenes. Never paying to watch a movie again.

I loved that shit but the theater wouldn't shut up for like 3 minutes so it kind of ruined whatever the next scene was. Same thing with the "i'm gonna kill this fucking clown" scene
