I agree

1990:

>funny and likable antagonist that is actually frightening during creepy moments

2017:

>edgemaster clown costume with lots of edgy blood and edgy voice

I can see how kids would be lured by the one on the right more than the one on the left. If chapter 2 improves though, the better of the adaptions will probably be 2017. 1990's second half is unwatchable.

Yes.
>actually frightening during creepy moments
He has zero frightening moments, the movie is not scary, you spend more time laughing and finding it comedic than being scared.
Shut the fuck up nostalgia fag

lol the 1990s movie is a made for tv movie, aka, cheap in every way imaginable. This movie would have been forgotten in time if it weren't for Tim Currys entertaining performance. That's literally the only redeeming factor for the old movie. 2017 movie, the kids carry the film instead of the clown, which makes for a better picture when the kids are 90% of your movie.

t.19 yr old

If you think the miniseries was ever frightening, you need to kill yourself.

You used the word "edge" three times. It's almost as if you are chanting this buzzword, as if you believe it's some sort of magic talisman that if you repeat it enough times, will make some nebulous "point" for you, that you are too lazy or stupid to even bother framing with actual words.

Don't you DARE speak to me

Scooby Doo > 2017 > 1990

>He has zero frightening moments, the movie is not scary, you spend more time laughing and finding it comedic than being scared.
I agree. The 2017 version is a fucking joke.

The original actually sucked so Idk why I went to watch the 2017 version.

That said, 2017 blew it out of the fucking water. Incredible movie.

2017 It can only hurt you when you're afraid of it. It goes around in its Pennywise form to frighten children, but literally cannot kill you if you're not afraid of it.

1990 It can attack you whenever the fuck it wants, and only scares you first because you "taste" better that way. It takes on the Pennywise form not because it has to, but just to fuck with you before you die.

1990 It wins in a knockout.

I saw IT (2017) yesterday, and then I saw the 1990's one this morning. I never watched IT, or paid any attention to it prior. The 2017 one is INFINITELY better. 1990's one has shit pacing, is cheesy as fuck, and is cheap as fuck too. It is a mini series, so it gets a pass on the cheap but uh, yea. I enjoyed the new one alot more.

Sup Forums sure is talking about this movie a lot. i thought it looked too shitty to even download. is it really worth watching?

>Director of Cinematography: Idubbbz

I always just assume people who use edgy every other word are underageb&

Billy's a better IT, Tim's a better clown.

Someone post the webm pls

huh. well put

Thanks Ebert, how is hell?

Sorry the 1990 version wasn't paced to the slow wit of the cell phone and social media age, we used landlines and letters back then.

movie is better than the miniseries but Curry is better and with better production and CGI eyes like the newfag got it wouldn't even be close

>A slow movie can't be paced well
You're retarded. There are slow movies that are paced well, the original just has bad pacing period

new clown is so stupid looking there's nothing scary about it.

Like a woman trying way too hard to look hot, I can see right through the heels, 3 hour hair and makeup, and stupid tight dress right into your insecure soul.

It's way more effective when the monster looks a little more casual or natural and not "ooooh I'm so fucking creepy, goddamn I am the creep master, look at my spiky hair and gray washed out clothes, ooh shit I am soo fucking scary." Like IT the monster was staring in the fucking mirror for hours getting his creep on, it's so goddamn stupid. Original IT looks like a space monster looked at a clown for 5 seconds and this was his interpretation, like you wouldn't notice the difference. Uncanny valley shit, like Vincent Donofrio in MIB, the alien was CLOSE to human, even despite wearing a skin bag.

>imagining these two IT's as roomies

thats actually kinda cute

>A slow movie can't be paced well
WHEW you're reading comprehension is shit mate
I said the cell phone generation had slow wit, and you are proving my point. dumbos love fast past jump scare trash

...

ok gramps

Someone who actually fucking gets it.

Shut the fuck up already. Jesus Christ. If you were 10/11 years old in some podunk town in the 80s, the 2017 clown would be scary as fuck. N

I think if you were to combine Curry and Skarsgard's portrayals of IT you would have the perfect Pennywise. Both performances are great imo and I actually think Skarsgard channeled his brother's character Floki on Vikings more than Curry's original performance

Skarsgard gives a good performance and legit tried hard for this role but I feel like that costume just sabotages his every effort, it tries so hard to be disturbing that it ends up having the opposite effect no matter how good his acting was.

I have not seen either film or read the book but lol this is Sup Forums so I'm gonna weigh in anyway

Tim Curry looks like an actual clown who could be at a children's party but would also fucking terrify those children. 2017 guy looks like a horror movie character who would never pass for a working clown.

>Like a woman trying way too hard to look hot, I can see right through the heels, 3 hour hair and makeup, and stupid tight dress right into your insecure soul.

Dies a virgin.

Why are people pretending that It was ever good.

Goddamn this guy was the one who took the genetic hit for the rest of the Skarsgard family. Like the manlet hemsworth brother

guess what faggot, I'm an adult in a fucking movie theater. So is everyone else watching this. "Duuuuuh if you were a kid and saw a CGI cartoon car like in Cars drive through your yard you'd be excited!" Well guess what, neither are ever going to happen and if a character from Cars, or IT, or Frozen or whatever show up at my house I seriously could fucking care.

God what a stupid fucking argument. "Hey man, if it showed up at your house...!" Oh yeah, go fuck yourself, it's a fucking movie. I don't watch movies wondering if it's going to happen later, in fact knowing that it won't allows for BETTER things to happen on screen, but obviously this movie was lacking ALL of those better things and just sucked a big fucking lemon.

>Original IT looks like a space monster looked at a clown for 5 seconds and this was his interpretation, like you wouldn't notice the difference. Uncanny valley shit, like Vincent Donofrio in MIB, the alien was CLOSE to human, even despite wearing a skin bag.

No, original It looks like a serial killer clown. New It is what you just described.

Nu-IT looks fucking terrible, like one of those autistic fanfic drawings on deviantart. I dont know if it is the actor, or the makeup that is focused on making him look so edgy and stupid instead of going for a normal clown look like the original pennywise.

I have no idea how the designer got a greenlight for it. It's as bad as Letos Joker character. They even overdesigned the fucking costume.

So people actually this shit scary? It looks like that porn gif with the dude fucking a girl standing up while his friend does a similar dance

I still cant believe this is real. This garbage actually got a sequel in the making.

>waaahhhh!! WAAAAAAHHHH

>women aren't insecure
have you ever had a woman beg you for comments? It's pathetic

We get it, you saw the 90's version when you were a kid and also old is always better.

Poor guy

I bet It would show up to you as a job and responsibilities and lack of access to Sup Forums to complain and bitch about stupid shit on.

He looks like a more handsome Steve Buscemi

...

no you fucking retard that scene was comedic relief, go watch the fucking movie before posting in my thread

He absolutely does holy shit

Those googly eyes

I already did. In 1990. All Hollyjew does now are remakes, shitty sequels and prequels and bleed out old franchises as much as possible with a bunch of more sequels and spinoffs.

The remake is bad enough, I'd just get a copy in the mail.

Opposite day?

You shills still shilling, pathetic.

This part really scared me in the 1990 one.

>2017 It can only hurt you when you're afraid of it. It goes around in its Pennywise form to frighten children, but literally cannot kill you if you're not afraid of it.
thats bullshit

>I didn't see the new film but I know the context of it hahaha im so smart

woah

This not being scary has nothing to do with the false notion that Tim Curry's Pennywise was ever scary.

>literally trying to defend OAP OAP GANGNAM STYLE

Well it wasn't very funny, dipshit.

2017 IT was decent. I have to say that the horror parts were probably the shittiest part of the entire film. New pennywise had zero personality.

>1990 It can attack you whenever the fuck it wants, and only scares you first because you "taste" better that way.
And people say the new one is "edgy"

Any links so I can watch it??

1990 was more imaginative.

>le nostalgia reply

Just like the book then.

>le redditor reply

>ywn get paid to do this

because it has all the shit that's going to be in the new movie's sequel? Yeah being a shitty made for TV miniseries fused into a "movie" will do that I suppose

1976>1990>2017
Hollywood has lost all understanding of subtlety and can not figure out what makes original concepts what they are.

Life already fucks me in the ass every day for free.

This is youtube tier

>le nostalgia goggles

opinion dismissed

Nostalgia Fags ITT:

>Man, the new IT wasn't scary at all, fucking pathetic!
>Old IT was so scary! Ah! Curry Clown gave me nightmares!

>no quips=no personality

I'm sorry but the Curry Clown was just creepier, I'm sorry that you cant argue this past typing 'NOSTALGIA FAGS!!!' like a spaz.

fandango.com/

I only watched the miniseries a few years ago, it was alright I guess but you have to be a huge faggot to deny Curry's performance was 10/10.

Bev didn't look that scared.

nah mate, I liked Curry's performance. I'm just talking about the scare factor

New one was so dude convenient jumpscares lmao

>implying the 2017 didn't feel like a TV movie with just a much bigger budget.
You probably prefer Zak Snyder's version of Dawn of the Dead over Romero's too because it looks more boujee

>scare factor
are you twelve?

Source please.

Put Tim Curry's voice with the new IT monster and it'd be perfect

>scare factor
It's a fucking demon taking the form of a clown to appeal to innocence and lure the kids in. It's not supposed to look scary as a clown. At least Curry didn't push for fangs.

Kek

Sup Forums literally wouldn't give a shit about this movie if the 1990 superior version existed. 90's Bev is best Bev btw

As someone who doesn't give a shit about horror and superhero movies and all that, I thought the guy who plays Pennywise was also the guy who plays The Joker on Gotham. Just found out now that they are different actors.

Thanks for reading.

THIUS MOVIE IS DESTROYING THE JOBS OF REAL CLOWNS! WE NEED TO STOP THIS!!

cinemablend.com/news/1697319/real-clowns-are-losing-work-because-of-it-and-theyre-not-happy

Wrong.

Holy shit, in this pic bozo is scariest of all!

The thing about clowns is it's a game of facades, there's such a try-hard joviality that's masking something else, you don't know exactly *what* else but it doesn't exactly seem benign when they're trying to appeal to children...

That's why in terms of delivery Tim Curry's clown is better, he has that joviality that masks something blank.... that turns out to be pure evil. When skarsgard is trying to radiate menace to begin with it kind of breaks the formula of why clowns are scary.

But that being said

2017 movie>>> miniseries
BUT
Tim Curry's clown>>>> Skarsgard's clown

The whole point of this scene is Pennywise trying to be scary but failing. Maybe you fucks should actually see something before you judge it.

How can you not know Bozo?

With attempts that bad I can't imagine how anyone is afraid of him

I never read the book, so i don't understand the character.

>a clown landed on earth
>goes on a year long child killign spree every 27 years
>won't kill the kids until they're scared enough
>killed Georgie when he was barely scared

It's such a stupid character, i think it's cool that he basically traps kids in a fun house and torments them, but why didn't he just kill them, it's like he wanted them to get him, as if he were the Predator or some shit

everyone in the theater I went to laughed at this scene
