Questionable Content

Didn't she fire Faye for this edition

Yes but see when these two get drunk at work and play with a sword it's zany and hilarious, Faye had an ILLNESS.

I don't know where the fuck he's going with this, but I bet his sycophantic fanbase won't call him out on it. Unless Jeph's struggling and wants to have cocktails again, and they're about to do a mini-arc about self control.

what a fucking hypocrite

Yes, because fuck faye apparently.

hopefully Faye walks in next strip and kills Dora with the sword for being a grade a cunt

Take this frustration at the author's incompetence and make it a daily thing. You now have our "Dumbing of Age" threads.

>I don't know where the fuck he's going with this

Don't worry, he doesn't know either

>our
Surely the overlap is enourmous. I mean, they're certianly my two favourite hate threads.

Personally, I'm not into QC. It doesn't have the same stranglehold on me that DoA has. I just saw these reactions from the front page.

Though I do have to say that Jacques must be purposely bringing Claire into some state of moral degradation or something; she used to be likable.

>following either of them
I just read whatever strip is up and relevent. Fuck actually following either of them.

WHERE'S BRUN

The love triangle between Brun, Elliott, and Robot Hand is the new "When will Marten fuck the tranny?"

Brun deserves all the boys

Maybe Jeph will commission Willis to draw a three-way porn.

No, "When will Faye fuck the Robot?" is the new "When will Marten fuck the tranny?"

Shit, I forgot that there was a robot in the fuck mix now.

>Faye shows up and gets assblasted because Dora's a hypocrite
>Storms out and meets up with bubs
>Robutt attempts to console Faye
>Faye fucks the robot?

Brun deserves to be tenderly demolished by a giant like Elliot.

I'm glad he's getting around to the robots fuckin'. May particularly seems open to prostitution, and Faye and Bubbles are gonna start roboscissoring any day now.

You REALLY need to get past this "Faye fucks the robot" obsession

>she used to be likable
She was great till Jeff made her a main character. Her, Asian, and Clinton were great side characters. Like Fatty Otaku and the Robits.
Then all of a sudden WHAM main character. Its cool for her to have a story here and there like everyone else. Jeff took it too far and he wasn't subtle about it.

I miss the days when it was just a Boy, a robot, and his crush making indie music jokes. No real substance or soapboxing. Just a comic.

The only way to beat the obsession is for Faye to fuck the robot, because you know Jeph will write it so horribly that we'll want to ever forget it happened, just like Marten and Claire.

No, he'll find some way to pander to the Tumblrinas.

>this shitty comic is still going
has he fucked the tranny yet?

yes

Claire was never likeable and her only flaw is "oh sometimes Claire likes to meddle on other people's business, oh but the one time we see her go too far she cries and feels really bad about it us know."

Claire has no flaws, Claire is perfect. If Claire was anything less than perfectly empathetic at all times Jeph's fans would lose their goddamn minds because he portrayed a trans person as human, as something less than an ideal.

Well, it'll happen when and if it happens. Continually asking the same question isnt going to make it happen any faster, if it indeed happens at all.

So, is there anyone normal left in the QC cast? Seems everyone is a homo and/or otherwise a freak. And fat.

Is that even Dora? Or is it the other girl who works in the shop, I really can't tell them apart.

Raven doesn't really appear any more and she doesn't work at the shop. Dora is in the black shirt Emily is the tall girl in the light brown shirt.

No, the other one. The one dating steve.

Oh, Cosette. She has brown hair.

Steve but, guess what, he got wrote out years ago

I feel bad for the kind of alcoholic that actually has to stop drinking entirely to keep their job/family.

I'm an alcoholic but I have just enough self-control to abstain or have only one drink during work hours.

I'd say I have the self-control not to binge, but binge-drinking just sucks. 2-3 equivalent shots in a short span will get me real happy but 5 drinks in a short enough span that it spikes your BAC? That's not a pleasant state to be in.

I mean, I'll drink all goddamned day on a weekend and keep myself at around .04-.05, but what makes a person want to lay there nauseated for an hour?

You are an American hero

I was in the navy. This was the norm for most people I worked with.

Now it's all about wanting the nerd with the robot hand to fuck the chubby brown autist.

In most places, drinking at work only becomes a problem when it becomes a problem.

Raven rarely shows up anymore, and you can tell it's not her because Raven has huge tits and Dora is flat as an ironing board.

Any one got the zalgo edit?

Except her 'one rule' for the coffeeshop was "don't show up to work drunk or high". She fired Faye for SHOWING UP drunk, one time. She hadn't caused any damage, or made it a pattern, she just came into work drunk.

Now, in this strip, Dora AND one of her employees got utterly fucking blasted IN the shop, ON the clock, to the point that Dora is trying to give her employee a haircut with a fucking broadsword.

How is that not more problematic than 'was drunk when she arrived'?

I'm the opposite. I love being really drunk and if I'm not drinking fast enough to get my BAC above 'tipsy' it feels like I'm just wasting alcohol.
It's part of the reason I almost never drink during the day. You metabolise drinks faster before sundown due to how circadian rhythms work. If I start drinking at lunch time I'd need to drink twice as much alcohol to get nice and drunk within the next four hours compared to if I start drinking at dinner time.

>show up
>get drunk while there

social drinking is a bonding experience

Go away, Dora. Nobody likes you.

It's the new "fuck the Tranny" it's the only thing that he is actually bothering to build so it's the only thing to latch on to.

Jeph is such a fucking hack. I hope someone brought this hypocrisy up

I hate Dora

I miss Brun

Well the joke has officially gotten old and tired. Give it a rest already

...

I haven't read this the better part of a year and I don't know who any of the cast is anymore.

Here's a page from a better "quirky nerds" comic completely robbed of context.

...

The difference is that when Faye was fired, Jeph wanted to drum up some drama. Here, he's just doing wacky shenanigans for the sake of a punchline. The comic doesn't have a lot of consistency. It's really all about how Jeph feels that particular day.

The in-universe reason I'm gonna pretend is that Dora just plain hates being disobeyed, and it was more a power play than actually about being drunk.

Fucking beautiful

hanners is best girl again

Prediction: Next strip, Dora feels bad and lays on the exposition. Strip after that, Dora calls Faye, they have a heart-to-heart. 3rd Strip, robots are 69'ing or something.

Emily has Asian flush

How realistic

...

still doesn't really explain the out-of-character action Dora made drinking at work. Maybe Tai's lax attitude about this sort of thing brushed off on her, and we haven't noticed it because the comic hasn't really focused much on Dora recently?

Jeph thought he had a really good joke yesterday and couldn't pass it up. For whatever reason, instead of making it a dream sequence or some other sort of cutaway, he decided to make it canon and then immediately backtrack on it. I guess he thought he got a 2 for 1 gag and character development, but it's just shit, as always.

This isn't even back-tracking this is doubling down on shitty drama.

It almost feel like he read people pointing it out and quickly backpeddaled it and got it over with.

I doubt it but it feels like it

I fucking told you nerds he reads these threads.

Did you believe me? NOOOOOOO

JEPH I WANT A PENELOPE SERIES. DO YOU HEAR ME YOU BASTARD?!

If this incident ends with this comic I would be extremely surprised. I think Dora's gonna have a freak-out over this especially after she sobers up. But it is QC so I guess if it was swept under the rug with hundreds of other plot lines it wouldn't be surprising..

I do think that he comes here, but in this particular case I think the hypocrisy was so obvious anyone who read the comic could have pointed it out to him. Even one of his fans might have asked about it, just more timidly and politely than we do, and probably with the assumption he had something planned. Heck, this one's so apparent I'd be willing to believe even Jeph himself might have noticed it like an hour after posting.

He did say the day before yesterday that he thought people would hate yesterdays comic before they read today's comic. He underestimated the massive change of character this represents for Dora.

YEP Jeph does this 2-3 times a year

Nah we're going to be right back to pointless banality tomorrow.

Emily's looking THICC.

> A liberal is a hypocrite
No. Stop the presses. Please.

Hey, remember when Faye got drunk ONCE and suddenly was labeled an "alcoholic"? Are they all alcoholics now?

>Problem is resolved with words in 3 seconds
>everything is all better now let's never speak of it again!!!!!!

the jeph jacques school of human relations

>Jeph's fans being timid and polite

They made him stab his hand last time they got mad at how he handled a beloved waifu

>wass
How do you make that mistake?

they see me rolling

that's how he resolves every problem ever

>Better
Only slightly.

I'm starting to realize why I stopped coming to these threads

fucking Jeph, your shitty lack of caring writing would drive ME to drink if I still considered myself a fan. I'm not even a hatefan anymore, I just want QC to go away now.

deepest lore

...

...

After pawning a firearm Ronnie could probably purchase several box sets of anime.

> Drunk people capable of rational thought
Suspension disbelieved.

Should have gone the Sam and Fuzzy route and kept the zany but slowly escalated the story-line to something more serious.

Like, there's hints and such dropped all the time about an AI singularity, the difference in how AIs perceive social roles, how the AIs define themselves in relation to their creation and original programming and form a morality out of it, their views on humans etc.

Nevermind the background superscience. Orbital pizza, war bots, Pintsize's military laser, the apparent lack of health and food inspections for coffee shops, etc.

Or hell, even focus on the small business aspects.

Personally, I read QC as a critique of the very people who are fans of it. They're all living in this world with serious things going on, but they can't get their heads out of their asses to do anything about it.

Dora is the only one who's semi-respectable because she actually works towards something with her business.

Fae STILL isn't doing shit with her art, and is getting into illegal shit because she's selfish and has protagonist centered morality. I bet there's some irony in that her character probably HATES Sword of Truth, but honestly she'd fight right into it as the main character.

Jeph, er, Marten is still just a blob. He works at the library and has a GF and he's comfortable. He pretty much doesn't take any action, only reacts. His band fell the fuck apart, and the Metal chick faded because nobody can be arsed to put any effort into people unless they live in the apartment, work together, or are fucking.

I personally just see Claire as an undeveloped side character. Aside from the Trans thing, she's boring.

Raven moved on with her life. She went on to go to school or whatever. Like I said, nobody in that comic is capable of maintaining a relationship except of convenience.

Pretty much the entire main cast are selfish narcissists who don't do shit.

QC is the first Matrix Agent Smith talked about that hasn't fallen apart yet.

Jeph's real problem is that he comes from an upper middle class family, attended an easy major in an easy college, burned out of the workforce after something like 8 months, and stumbled into e-fame without really putting the effort in other than committing to a 5 strip per week schedule. The guy has absolutely nothing to draw upon, which is abundantly obvious if you look at the garbage he posts on his Twitter feed. The guy flips his lid when some guy from New Delhi dares to spam his inbox with SEO crap. Silver spoon lucks into a sustainable career and has no idea how lucky he is. With his substance abuse, emotional, and procrastination problems (e.g. putting off medical attention until he's already lost his hearing) it's a miracle he isn't homeless.

I don't think Hanners is the one she should be apologizing to.

I really don't see the comparison. I mean, I sorta do, but it seems shallow.

When Dora did it, it was a stupid impulsive hypocritical mistake. She didn't hide that she's doing it, admits to it upon being confronted, and apologizes when Hanners pointed out that Dora wasn't holding herself to the same standard to which she held others.

When Faye did it, she lied about coming in drunk, hid the fact that she was drinking on the job, badly lied when caught, and then failed to give any coherent response when confronted about it.

The real issue is that this is (supposed to be) a comedy webcomic, with punchlines and such. Yet it is also a drama. So sometimes behavior is played up for laughs, only for it to be addressed seriously later. It is somewhat akin to a version of the First and Ten Syndrome, except the comic is not trying to transition from one genre to another. Instead it tries to portray actions as either silly nonsense or consequential actions, with that status changing to whatever the current story arc finds convenient.

So two people going to quit after hearing Faye was being promoted, was a punchline. Dora making sure Faye is out of earshot before letting Dale know that he's safe now and can talk freely about Faye's training, was a punchline. Faye making Dale continue to wear a helmet that had a large earwig in it that he seems alarmed about, was a punchline. Then the drama switch is flipped, and it's not Faye being quirky and amusing, it's her displaying casual abuse of other employees. Her antics around Dora go from being jokes to constant disrespect and insubordination. It's Peanuts if Charlie Brown started actively avoiding Lucy for the ball-pulling and other antics, instead of it just being another joke before the status quo resumed. It's Wile E. Coyote once again running halfway over the gap before looking down and falling, except this time he actually dies, and the show replaces him and continues on.

>Asian

Literally who?

>Aside from the Trans thing, she's boring.

The Trans thing has gotten old and tired as well

Emily Azuma, the weird chick.

Comfort is the enemy.

>furtile
What the shit?
HOW IS THIS ALLOWED?

...

Kekus Vult

Then... just call her Emily. We can tell she's an Asian.

>he doesn't know how expensive BDs are let alone sets
Fucking poser

I mean when they're in their circlejerk mood as opposed to their lynchmob mode.

We haven't heard about his forums in a while. Last I remember that basically the first person to write about the new page gets to decide the echo chamber. Any and all attempts to have a contradicting point about anything results in a permanent ban.
