Redpill me on urban planning/design. I feel like it's all bullshit. For example, here in Denver we've gotten an absurd amount of new people and it's obviously affecting the city, especially in a transportation manner. People keep talking about muh density and public transit. It would take all the people in the state and moving them all into this county and adding another million to get to their level of density. Also, advocates of public transit never seem to use it... So what gives?

>their
whose?

Here in Germany public transport becomes more and more niggerified every day. Sandniggers nogging and other trash spilling stuff and stinking the train up. Is it the same in the US with public transport? Because that might be an explanation.

Looks like US of A is going to shit.
Welp, hope Trump wins, maybe it will change something.

>advocates of public transit never seem to use it

That's because only the lowest dregs of society use public transport

shart

It's all facilitation and marketing now.
Melbourne constantly wins this title of 'worlds most liveable city' yet you can't literally even get into peak hour trains- it's literally fuck off we're full, the roads are kilometres of car parks, if you drive into the city there's no cars paces so it costs you $100 for 24 hour parking in a multilevel, the rental on a 50sqm apartment which gets virtually no natural light is astronomically high, half the people in the city don't speak English, there's homeless everywhere, a river you can't swim in, it's noisy, the only white people are either suits or complete leftist university faggots, the only grass patches to sit on in the city people use to let their dogs shit and piss on and then tourists spend all day sitting on dozens of dogs toilets.

>worlds most liveable city

I think we should ban all cars. Keep only trucks, commercial vehicles, and beef up public transportation

American urban planning is fucked.

>how to lose thousands of jobs and subtract millions from the economy in one easy step

Haussmann style would be nice to adopt in some cities.

>all jobs are productive
Minimum wage cuck detected.

Sadly less people recognize the importance of societal homogeneity, so they don't care about the lack of white people.

Just kick over a lantern in a barn, then rebuild.

>car factories aren't productive
>gas refineries aren't productive
>oil wells aren't productive

youtu.be/f80zBco_-VY

>using shitty American manual "labourers" instead of based Japanese robots for production
Look at Detroit.

>he thinks there are any car factories in Detroit

Do you think Japs lead in robotics? US Military actually does.

its all bullshit done by control freaks and egotistical artists.

The most efficient and prosperous form of urban """planning""" is to allow private property and let people pursue their own interests with their property, while maintaining a legal system that holds people accountable for damages.

Check out the books of Leon Krier. Essentially a reactionary architect and town planner.

I'm secretly a car enthusiast and I want less people on my local roads.

Traffic has gotten bad man, I used to drive Santa Fe>I25 to get to work but now I suck it up and take 470 even with the tolls. dog bless da private sector

What are you talking about? Even the king uses the Oslo tram when he wants to go skiing in the 'marka'.

Here in Montreal, House prices have skyrocketed and keep on increasing at a pace of 10% each year.

Downtown is clogged.

But why? Is the city growing at a rapid pace? Not to my knowledge. And even if it was, why can't they make secondary downtowns and encourage people to settle in new areas instead of fighting for the limited space currently available?

What the hell is going on here?

fellow denverbro. Is that based I-25? Evanston represent

it's different when your country is a tiny mountain range. In USA, taking trams everywhere isn't practical and cars are treated with a kind of spiritual reverence.

The little bug is the only one not flipped over.

That is just due to American fetishism and pagan car worship. There is no real logical reason behind it, you could just as well have great public transport as well, it is way more convenient than using the car. We do have a car, but I rarely use it at all because public transport is cheaper, goes every 5 minutes pretty much everywhere, is faster than cars because no problems getting stuck in traffic and you don't have to worry about parking.

Americans were one of the first to introduce it, but you have not really maintained or invested in it for over a hundred years. When I went to new York the metro looked like ruins from ww2, except for the fact that the lights were on.

stronk like mein volk

>I went to New York

I'm sorry. it's not all like that

since NAFTA, most of detroits jobs went to mexico. they form all the plastic parts there, the steel parts arrive on the boat from china, they do "partial assembly. they ship everything to detroit where they still do final assembly (the last 10%), putting the completed doors on, putting windshield on, tires, shit like that.

>american made.

then chrysler they ship all the profits to Fiat

it's also the only one with a rear engine. probably why it doesn't get picked really far off the ground and instead skids. if the video was coming toward the front of the cars, the bug would've been the only one to flip.

Do your busses have minorities playing songs on their cell phones or homeless people masturbating, too?

This is true for some stations. Others are very modern and probably more grand than necessary.
For example, the new station at the end of the 7 line is very nice.

suburban is better

ain't bullshit to the Masons, friendo.

>this waste of gud repetition

>traffic
it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with population spikes. a truck approximates to 5 passenger vehicles, it could be your getting more of a certain type of traffic inbound at peak times

you want to maximize vehicles per hour right (Q)?

it's a balance between maximum speed (V in kph) and density (K in vehicles per kilometer)

Q = K V

Car-centric urban planning is the future. Robotic taxi cabs will make mass transit obsolete. America backed the right horse.

not bullshit. just run by socialist democrats...centralized cities have been the prefered urban form since ziggurats were built. america fucked it up when we started building car oriented suburbs...but for thousands of years, pedestrian oriented cities have been the way to do it. if you could walk to all the shit you like easily, cheaply and quickly, wouldn't you rather do that instead? the cheaply part is that hard part...modern cities will be more like urban villages connected hopefully by good transit.

>Redpill me on urban planning/design
Jesus fuck. Redpilling has gone to far. Shut it down.

Robot cars can't drive on roads with bicyclists. Robot cars would be standing 100% of time.

>niggerified
:)

i dont get american cities, it is all decentralised and there is nothing nice to see or do, there is just urban concrete sprawls

Obvious solution: robot bicyclists. More specifically, tandem bicycles with robot drivers.

I mean, yeah, I'm totally fucked up off my ass right now, but that's the kinda world I wanna live in.

Denverfag here. I bought a scooter because the traffic here is getting retarded. Now i park wherever i want for free, go wrong ways on one ways when applicable, and generally drive like an asshole. I get everywhere in half the time now. I only ever use my car for going to the mountains.

Feels good man.

It's boring as hell in most suburbs.

americans move to the suburbs into areas without any access to public transportation on purpose. that is because public transportation = niggers. so you move to an area where they can't get to you, if they try walking the police usually stop and detain. In return you get to drive an hour to work one way (if you're lucky).

there is zero point in it though, you can move to a medium to small town and live a much better life, live in the city, walking distance to the First Baptist Church, write articles for the local newspaper, have a park across the street, pay off your house by the time you're 30... etc. All on a shitty job comparatived to living in a major metro area.

There are, and there are a surprising amount of factories still here

So what is your question exactly? The basic concept of urban design are separating and controlling different land uses, but other objectives differ from place to place. and to a large degree it is simply a tool of the government

Red pill here.

this guy gets it. i graduated with a urban planning degree and moved to an expensive coastal market. after 20 years ive decided metro life in popular and expensive cities is waaay fucking over hyped. there are lots of mid sized metros that have all the practical amenitites of other popular cities without the price.

What have you done with your degree?

Have decent public transit. When I go to Japan, it's the best way to travel.

In America, it's the worst. No one wants to set a fucking standard.

if you want to do "urban planning", you don't really need a degree. it's administration/government sitting in on committees and pissing away public tax money. if you want to do the actual thinking about it and designing it stuff... you need a transportation or civil engineering degree. you can work your way up through the local/state dept of transportation. alternatively, you could become an architect, they don't do anything really except figure out what looks cool, what kind of doors/windows look the best, basically faggy interior designing of large buildings and how the outside looks.

it's all as boring and futile as it sounds.

i was a GIS tech, was a planner at a real estate advisory firm, now i work for a public utility.. mapping and getting a real estate license has helped immensely......learning tech skills is the best way to find a job in planning.

I'm already in a program but I'm nearing the end and considering what I actually want to do with my career

Thanks, I've been learning GIS

learn some autocad too and you can find work in civil engineering firms that do both planning and engineering work. thats pretty common.

>Here in Germany public transport becomes more and more niggerified every day

>There is no real logical reason behind it

This is what happened to the USA, this and lobbying from car companies to remove public transport funding.
They unleashed marketing to give the idea that having a car was an /AMERICAN/ thing to do, and at the same time they started buying up and dismantling public transit.
Once your society is build on the idea that everyone owns a car and cars are the best, it becomes exceedingly difficult to get away from cars, as only the worst of society will still use public transport, and they will shit it up hard. This makes decent people less interested in using public transport as well.

Once public transit deteriorates, it becomes harder and harder to fix it. Because people will have their alternatives(Cars) already, and nobody wants to spend money on it when they don't see the need.
After all. They personally have their cars, and only the worst of the poor use the public transit

And cars are simply an inefficient thing to plan a city around. They take up a lot of space for few people to get to their destination. When not in use, they're still big, and they need a place to stand.
Adding more lanes to a road doesn't help, it just makes traffic jams bigger as population grows

if all you just want to do is cad or gis work, you don't even need a degree. you can lie on your resume, they won't check, they never check. Just know how to do what they want you to do when they ask.

>Redpill me on urban planning/design.

1. All old buildings in cities should be demolished and have modernist apartments build in place. Obviously with only ikea furniture allowed because traditional furniture sucks balls.

>Sandniggers nogging and other trash spilling stuff and stinking the train up. Is it the same in the US with public transport?
frankly, niggers have made public transportation unusable. No one wants to get stabbed, or raped or spray painted. No one wants the smell.
So everyone drives, everywhere.

We HAD high speed rail, the metroliner, and now that has closed. There are no immediate, realistic plants to have high speed rail. Most of our train systems are old as fuck diesel trains.

Our buses are a disgrace. Major city subway systems are extremely outdated, filthy and generally horrible to use. Even in our nation's capital we have a filthy joke of a subway system. It looks North Korean.

No one wants to invest and no one wants to ride. All of our infrastructure is rotting.

it's all about making profit

In 20 years those buildings will look ugly as fuck.

Also, you are retarded.

Last time I was in Denver they had one of the best public transit systems in the country. Heard they're even starting up the ski train again. What happened?

>In 20 years those buildings will look ugly as fuck.

No they wont. Its called renovations.

The real ugly buildings are those shitty italian brown buildings that makes the city look like its the friggin 1800s.

>americans move to the suburbs into areas without any access to public transportation on purpose. that is because public transportation = niggers

Exactly this. I've seen this even effect the city's plans to put in sidewalk along the mainroads because people didn't like the idea of niggers/spics littering all over their front lawns (although it probably had more to do with the city domaining 6 feet of front yards on both sides of the road more than foot traffic)

Hipsters love walkable cities and good transit

this is true, we used to have really nice and convenient street cars in every city, and even fairly small towns. These street cars would usually connect to railway stations

>wake me up inside

Only certified losers use public transportation in the US. The only exception is for school.

and the streetcar companies were all purchased by GM and shutdown on purpose so people would purchase cars or ride buses....read about the GM streetcar conspiracy....
