is it good?
Is it good?
it's a great example of the art of filmmaking
but it's not a good movie
I liked it. I feel like if I where to introduce somebody to more artistic movies that present abstract ideas kinda like a Jodorowsky movie, this would be the place to start. It still has a coherent narrative and still follows a 3 part structure.
It's lousy.
Yeah I liked it
Pointy nipples:the movie
I laughed at tge escalation towards the end. I had fun.
>it's a great example of the art of filmmaking
explain
>femishit trash
>good
No, it's not.
It's an Aronofsky movie
Pretty good but don't expect it to be subtle
>Sup Forums likes a movie with jlaw IM ACTING
L O L
That smug cunt ruined it for me
imagine hating some bitch you will never even meet so much you disregard an entire film because of it
THIS MOVIE IS FASH GUISE, AND BASH THE FASH SO TRASH XDD XDD
no. religious allegories and lack of subtlety aside (which imo is a fair criticism), it's a shit film on all other fronts. the acting was atrocious (particularly ed harris and jennifer lawrence), all the beats in the plot were predictable 2-3 scenes in advance, the writing was cookie-cutter. idk i really don't get why people like this film other than for it being an indictment of the way humans mistreat earth.
>THIS MOVIE IS FASH GUISE
how?
/youjustdon'tgetit/core
We got it. It's just not Black Swan.
the story is more cliched than Avatar but tries to hide behind obvious symbolism to make it feel like it's smart
...
It's pure lovecraftian kino, I can't recommend it enough
It's absolute kinography, best movie of the year
The baby scene was a bit much though
Top 3 moments.
I loved the scene where Jlaw was getting beat up and titties popped out
he's right, which is a crazy thing to say
whether you like it or not, it's definitely a film that needs to be seen imo
where can i download it?
The director shows his chops but its such a terrible film
no he isnt
What are you even trying to say?
It had nothing to do with Lovecraft
>The baby scene was a bit much though
Grace Randolf says nothing really gruesome or horrible happens and the worst thing was people coming into the home and not using coasters
Is she a fucking psychopath?
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Please tell me this isn't shopped.
>affirms my political opinions in the wake of a stunning upset of an election that many are still reeling from
>has all the vestments of intellectual and artistic filmmaking so liking it doesn't feel like a nakedly partisan act
>has all the vestments of intellectual and artistic filmmaking
source?
i guess lovecraftian in the way that everything is madness?
i havent seen the movie btw
If the whole movie isn't Jennifer Lawrence telling her children not to walk my way, I will be very disappointed.
Its true, all of it
I don't get why Aronofsky depicted God (Bardem) as an endlessly gracious figure who does nothing but forgive people for their sins. It isn't a faithful representation of how God is depicted in the bible (especially the old testament).
that's aronofsky's whole deal. dressing up trash to make it seem smarter and more meaningful than it really is
oh I see. misinterpreted what you meant
I haven't seen the movie but that is exactly a perfect interpretation of God. You don't understand how the old and new testament interact with each other
new testament isn't legitimate though. it was made by evil people
...
lol
DUDE I GREW UP WATCHING ARONOFSKY LMAO
I've seen her acting she's garbage
masterpiece imo
the scene where she goes crazy and sets fire to the house will be one of those *inhale* HAHAHAHetc.. threads once the hq webm drops
It's pretentious lib propaganda based on the fkn bible.
What could be more ironic.
>muh mother nature
Is typical lib ideology. All the gruesome parts about nature are completely censored out. It's like those 80s and 90s family sitcoms that censor out the shit parts of the family life.
Sad and pathetic.bit shows that 0 actuall progress has taken place in any meaningful way. Another good looking pile of shit.
Can't wait
t. Didn't see the film
The complete lack of lovecraft is intrinsically lovecraftian
actors that can ruin an entire movie are a thing you know
sorry user but if you think ed harris's performance was good you're retarded
>movie literally has to put michelle phiefer into the movie because jennifer lawrence wouldnt sell tickets.
I love it, wont be spending money on this shit but god phief is hot as fuck
>yyyyoure retarded
Hahahahaha
what an unlikeable cunt
why do pseuds suck Aranofsky's cock?
>movie focuses on Lawrence which is the worst actress in it
>religious themes are done terribly because Aronofsky had to make everything look SO DEEP (but it's still utterly predictable halfway through)
>that garbage ending scene where it's just Aronofsky jacking off to how smart he is and DUDE MOTHER NATURE LMAO
I'm glad I got in for $4. Any more and I would be genuinely upset.
Yes, it's very good. Not quite great, but stunning in its audacity. Funny it's being attacked from all sides. Ironic anti-Jlaw memers, fake pious christians, anti-art autists.
It's a bold creative vision that you dont see at the megaplex.
>I didn't get it and I can jack off to jlaw... hmmmmm yes it's very good it gets a 7 from me very nice.
why would they paint cate blanchett on the poster?
Going in blind I didnt like it, then I saw some theories how its a big bible metaphor and Ill see it again if I like it any better
Ultimate pleb filter 2017.
Looks more like Lily Rabe, the rich man's JLaw.
It's legitimately the worst movie I've ever seen. I will never see another movie with anyone who was involved in this utter shit.
The best thing I have watched this year, maybe even in the last five years
This wasn't a movie this was art
Hes just mad that he realized he reviewed it wrong
I have no idea how you'd get that from my response.
Bothered me how much Aronofsky kept the frame on someone's head rather than letting us see the damn house
I thought it was pretty good. It was disturbing. The acting was great. The art direction was great. The sound was great. My only complaint is the allegory was way too on the nose.
>too intelligent for mother
>My only complaint is the allegory was way too on the nose.
What's wrong with that?
you know it's hamfisted and surface level symbolism if Jeremy Jahns was able to understand it
People assume subtlety is inherently more artful, which is a dull opinion.
Will you be my valentine?
I would of liked it more if the poet didn't have magic powers at the end with the crystal. Just let it be like a fucked up horror movie instead of DUDE HE REALLY WAS GOD!
It's just a nightmarish sort of poem in itself following dream logic and detached from reality, his being entirely supernatural was evident throughout.
this is what jlaw shills always say when someone says they don't like her
>y-you'll never meet in person anyways
>s-she'll never look in your direction
>s-s-
maybe it should have been an allegory of something interesting rather than being just another Jew director attacking Christianity. It's passe
What powers?
