What are some legitimate shortcomings of this film?

What are some legitimate shortcomings of this film?

Lack of lovecraftian themes.

Too many lovecraftian themes.

...

well, lovecraft, which is, lovecraft, it, lovecraft?

The CGI doesn't hold up well.
In parts the CGI is so outdated that you can't help but notice it.

this thread is kafkaesque

...

I find it charming

>cgi effect when frodo wakes up
>elves are disappointing as fucc, 80s tier b movie nonsense
>the built up parts of moria are nonsense, who the fuck makes a city thats just a thousand gigantic square columns
>movie loses its momentum in rivendell
>elronds a literal faggot
>cgi hobbits

In general once it left Bree it went down the shitter and went full retard.

I would watch 3 hours of comfy Shire shenanigans and Tom tomfoolery. The only thing I like about it is the lore and where they describe the journeys through the forests.

it gives it character.

Failed to adapt the spirit of the LotR trilogy.
It was turned into a festival of action and pop fantasy, and ignored all the heart and message of the books.

Also, no Tom Bombadil

Lack of strong female characters, patriarchal themes, eurocentric fantasy, no people of color besides some of the orcs in makeup

There's 1 particular scene where it stands out so bad that I can't help but get slightly annoyed.
When they're in Moria and Frodo and Gandalf are on the stairs... it's so so so bad.
But, I get over it.
LOTR trilogy are my favourite 3 films, Fellowship being my absolute favourite.

No one fucking cares about Tom Bombadil, only fucking smug hipsters that like to namedrop him to people who talk about the movies to make it seem like you know more than them.

this still triggered me even though i know you're being ironic

too few qts

male galadriel is guy pearce

>No one fucking cares about Tom Bombadil
t. 12 year old. Literally responsible for some of the most comfy moments in the entire series.

wtf is going on with boromir's mouth?
how do they know he's british?

fucking this. i've read the book too so i can confirm that this is true. the book sucks for the tom bombadil portion.
>but muh autistic lovecraftian character
it was too much for raimi it was a different time

>pippin
>legolas
>denethor

guess again

>He doesn't love The river womans's daughter's husband

Chris, pls go

That cgi when they are running in the mines of Moira. It's just like ps2

Not enough shots of Galadriel's dirty bare feet.

>whenever you see the backs of the creepy midgets standing in for the hobbits
>unnecessary Hollywood humor is too much sometimes
>Gandalf holding on to the ledge for a second, long enough to speak, while everyone just stands and stares
>arwen being a magical warrior when it was another elf lord who gets rid of the ringwraiths
>legolas being Neo with pointy ears, again more in the second movie than the first
>no Galadriel striptease scene
