i often wonder about if Connery had done OHMSS. it would've required a fairly different performance than what he had done in any of the previous films. lazenby's wateriness sort of works for a story that has bond at his most vulnerable and gives him a character arc for once.

Brosnan would have made a better Simon Templer. Bond requires someone who can look cruel most times and he struggled when trying that. To be fair he wasn't helped in this by the shite writing though - the 90s Bonds were more machinegun spraying action movie pastiches than Bond films.
Helps when you have the cutest bondgirls too: Carey Lowell, Talisa Soto and Maryam d'Abo all lit up the screen while poor Pierce got lumbered with the likes of Denise Richards and Halle Berry.
