Is this triggering anyone elses autism?

the movie takes place in the 80s, but all those products in the pharmacy had 2017 packaging. they didn't even try to hide it.

you're a fucking moron, stop posting

Anyone else find it weird that a small town in Maine has a huge-ass sewer system with large open spaces.

A Kafkaesque juxtaposition of anachronistic elements used in It (2017) elicit a Lovecraftian sense of cosmic horror in the viewer. Very masterfully executed.

redditor is asspained

would you say it was Lynchian?

The other two are funny. Stop trying to force a third one

That fucking lego turtle had lime green pieces which didn't make the scene until the early 2000s.

None of them are funny. It's a bunch of underaged kids spamming.

what an epically benign post, cuck

But this part of the film makes up for it

The feminine hygiene aisle was period-accurate.

Haha
I had almost completely scrolled away from the thread it didn't register with me right away
Good 1

I can't help but feel like the girl got a lot of scenes that alluded to periods.

Nobody had a BMX. They dominated the playground in the 80's.

King likes periods, I haven't read IT but Carrie describes several girls bleedin'

I can see it being an allusion to Bev growing up/becoming a woman. Apparently in the books they all fuck her in the sewer at the end as a bonding experience.

t. niggerredditaltrightpolantifacucknazi

The film was fucking shit. Every single scarey moment is a jump scare. And immediately afterwards you feel annoyed because the film didn't earn it's scares. It's the equivalent of someone sneaking up behind you and popping a balloon. The absolute fucking state of Hollywood 'horror'.

You know whats even more weird? An ancient entity that feeds on fear got raped by a bunch of children.

Periods are an actual plot point in Carrie, so yeah it'll be in the book a lot.

I haven't read the novel, but I feel like at least in this version of the story her fear of becoming a woman is tied to her sexual abuse by her father. And that's why it scares her so much.
>those boys know yer still my little girl, don't they?
>still
>the scene before that where she cuts her hair in an act of rebellion/shedding her skin
>the hair attacks her along with a rush of blood

In the novel Bev's mom asks her if her dad touches her, Bev has no idea what she means by it. Later when her dad goes apeshit, he demands Bev let him check if she's intact and chases her through town when she refuses, so yeah it's sort of a thing in the book.

Well yeah, I mean he made it clear he thinks periods are meaningful/symbolic in Carrie so it's not crazy to think he'd do the same in another story.

I think that's what he's going for- she doesn't like the idea of growing up because of her dad's abuse, and add to that the rumors going around of her being a turboslut (and a group of guys attacking her in the books). But at the same time she's going through normal 13 year old girl things-crushes, periods etc. I thought the aspect with the boys being nice to her in a healthy way was supposed to be what helped her ultimately overcome her fear. But then she goes and gets an abusive husband so I don't really know.

Just got back from this here's my questions

>why did they keep leaving their bikes in the middle of the road?
>why did the fat ones parents not wonder why he was cut up all the time?
>the swimming scene was basically soft core child porn
>what happened to all the kids under hyponosis like Beverly?
>why did none of the houses have proper lighting?
>if it could make kids go crazy enough to kill their parents when they watch his tv show why not just tell them all to head to the sewer?
>why did he say "Fear" before disappearing?
>why did they use so much CGI for the monsters?
>is IT a bogget?

someone call mary, anne, and webster

Did u get this from imdb

Fantastic elements are more believable than poorly built world.

I think the library scene was the most well executed part of the movie.

Not at all
IT literally had people build the town that way
His killing grounds or some shit

My dad said the train in the movie didn't exist at the time

>why did they keep leaving their bikes in the middle of the road?
They're inconsiderate kids and half the time something more pressing was happening then having to worry about vehicle placement.

>why did the fat ones parents not wonder why he was cut up all the time?
He was cut once and you have to remember that IT has influence over the entire town of Derry and has for centuries. IT usually casts illusions that only children can see and often makes adults forget what happens. It's also possible Ben never showed his parents the wound and kept periodically cleaning and dressing it by himself. More than likely, it wasn't really a pertinent plot point and just glossed over.

>the swimming scene was basically soft core child porn
Eh, playing chicken seemed pretty innocent to me. Also, they're 13-14 year-old boys staring at a 15 year-old girl who's half-naked. It's not like they started dry humping her or whip their dicks out and started masturbating. And they certainly didn't run a train on her like in the novel.

>what happened to all the kids under hyponosis like Beverly?
Bev saw the Deadlights, which is the true essence of IT, being that it is a glimpse into the dimension where IT originated. Staring for too long causes mortals to either outright die or go insane it's very Lovecraftian :^). Seems like she only looked enough to go partially comatose until Ben kissed her back to reality.

>why did none of the houses have proper lighting?
Elaborate. I thought the lighting in the film was quite good.

>if it could make kids go crazy enough to kill their parents when they watch his tv show why not just tell them all to head to the sewer?
Henry Bowers was a special case. He was a sociopath who was also abused by his father. IT's television show just pushed him over the edge into insanity.

>why did he say "Fear" before disappearing?
Fear never truly dies since it's an instinctual, primal emotion right up there with love. The two are obviously juxtaposed in the film.

>why did they use so much CGI for the monsters?
*Monster. One of my chief complaints of the film was that they didn't let Skarsgard do his thing as Pennywise enough. Instead, opting for CGI in a lot of his scenes where I think him just talking would've been much more effective. The scene where he encounters Eddie for the first time is a great example of just letting Pennywise be menacing.

>is IT a bogget
I'm going to assume you meant "boggart" and no fuck off with your Harry Potter shit. Probably one of the many things Rowling stole from more talented authors.

Why didnt the bullies give each other bro jobs like they did in the book?

Why did he befriend, luring then immediately bite of George at the beginning but after that he just wants to terrorize then do nothing rather than eating them?

IT's appetite is sated the more terrified IT's victims are of IT when IT eats them. Georgie was clearly horrified from the get-go but played along until he insisted he had to go. The slow reach for the boat caused Georgie's fearful anticipation to come to a head and IT to finally bite the little nigga's arm off.

IT exists to induce fear, and once enough terror has been induced, IT can feed. That very fact is why Bev was spared at first, because after dealing with her rapist father for so many years, she wasn't afraid of IT.

Sewer systems ARE huge, especially in older towns, even the smaller ones. Nowadays they're made to be more compact, but back then they had to be massive and "walkeable" because maintenance workers had to work in them.

Yeah in actual cities like Boston or Philadelphia. Many rural bumfuck towns still use septic tanks that are serviced by waste trucks every once in a while. The underground flood reservoir in the movie is something only a large city would have.

>Every single scarey moment is a jump scare.

not really

I was too busy looking at Bev's ass to notice. When she wasn't on-screen I just closed my eyes and imagined she was.

Narcos happening during 90's all the radios used are very recent Chinese models.

>why did he say "Fear" before disappearing?

That was the first time IT felt fear in its existence. It had gotten reckless and thought itself a god or deity.
