Free schools

Thoughts on schools being "free"?

Does it benefit society?

if you were taught to speak english in school then no

kek no.

No. Since when did a doctor or plumber not charge you for their services? It has no benefit to society. Education does, but other people paying for it has no benefit to those other people who paid for it.

My public school education got me into a top 25 uni. I say yes.

Yeah, but did you actually learn anything?

Low cost = low quality

That is true for anything in Europe, be it education, healthcare, public services, etc

Yes. More students to filter out. Bigger pound.

Must be 100% free and mandatory.

Well yeah. I learned a lot actually.

Like what?

>Must be 100% free
No wages aren't going to attract very good teachers. In a tent. If you can find a tent in the trash for free.

I learned Calculus. I learned basic organic chemistry. I learned about European and American history + an entire class dedicated to just Weimar Germany and WWI. I even learned a decent amount of Spanish.

Yes, school must be free and mandatory to prevent the formation of a permanent underclass. The state should stay out of it and leave everything for local governments to figure out.

Teachers are paid by gov. Then the gov should find ways to compensate teachers. In my countrys case the best ones are put in to beamten status. Rarly but they are.
They have not to worry about pensions or being fiered pay is good from what i heard as beamter.

Education is a basic right and cant be alowed to be privetly controlled.
The students of today are the sientists, leaders, soildieres of tomorrow and allowing any one else to controll this is suicide for a nation.

Disown, seace, detain.
Country above money.

If the staate stays out every local gov will have difrent rules and standarts.

Standartisation is key.

Only in majority white countries.

on average it does.

i can't imagine how retarded everyone would be if public schools weren't a thing.

Consider every idiot you ever met, now imagine they never received basic education. Would you really want something that stupid forming a majority of your society?

Free education means a higher standard of society. If it must be paid for, many won't and those who won't will be a burden to those who did.

Thank god that we had free public schooling in America for the last hundred years which prevented us from ever having any sort of permanent underclass.

Society doesn't exist. Individuals do. Nothing is free. Everything has a price. If you intend to fund these schools via taxes they are A: not free and B: a violation of property rights

How are they a violation of property rigths?

If not free education should be easily affordable because of the internet.

People should be encouraged to be self teaching and brick and mortar classes should be replaced by real life work scenario simulations and/or apprenticeships that assess skill levels beyond theoretical knowledge.

Taxation takes individual's property by threat of force

that's cuckthink. local govt will know what the community needs, central planning is responsible for everything that is wrong with education. It is inherently inefficient, and unfair given how the distribution of funding plays out.

For example, I don't want my tax money spent teaching children that white men are evil and global warming is a result of human industry. Yet I currently have no choice but to fund it.

No, most people are just putting off work to have excuse for parents to leech them longer, make STEM free, it's useful and most people can't do it, make rest paid, shit like gender studies exist purely so that people unable to get degree have some degree for having 'correct' opinions.

School is not free. It's paid by people who are getting no value or shit value for their money. The recipients of schooling also get fed a steady diet of lies.

School — as conceived today, a government indoctrination program — is bullshit. Learning happens outside of it.

Why is it a "problem" that people get different rules and standards?

If we were left to your retarded devices, I bet everyone would be driving a Trabant... if they were allowed to drive at all!

No, communist will take over them and fill them with non-whites at some point and then everyone will still believe that the government schools are working while they aren't.

Kids by and large are idiots. Today they have the sum of all humanities knowledge at their finger tips, yet they use this fabulous tool to post on facebook while watching porn and cat videos. They need teachers, they won't teach themselves.

There is no such thing as free education or anything, it is just paid with somebody else's taxes.

It does make some sense to have subsidized public schools to teach the basic literacy and numeracy skills you need to operate in society, nobody wants to deal with too many unemployable people.

What doesn't make sense is subsidizing every middle class twats who wants to get a leg up on everyone by becoming a lawyer. If you want to, that's fine but do it on your own dime or don't.

Collectivizing the cost of vocational training can make sense in some cases but should be repaid in one form or another. If your country needs nurses, you could train natives instead of poaching them from other countries on the condition they work in your hospitals for a given number of years or have to pay back what it costed to train them.

For example, why the fuck can't the UK train their own medical staff is beyond me.
