>The $35 million Warner Bros./New Line Cinema release earned another $60m in its second weekend of release, which would A) still be the biggest September/October opening ever even if it was the opening weekend and B) would be above the $58m debut (in 2001) of Hannibal, the previous record for an R-rated horror opening. The picture dropped just 51% in its second frame, which is remarkable for a horror film with such huge numbers and a clear sign that the picture is becoming a zeitgeist-capturing event. In just ten days, the film has earned $218m in North America. In just a matter of days, it will pass the unadjusted gross of The Exorcist ($233m, including reissues) to become the biggest R-rated horror movie/scary movie in domestic box office history.

>I don’t know how far It will float in North America, although at this point a $300 million+ domestic total is all-but-certain. If it (optimistically) plays like Annabelle: Creation or The Conjuring from this point onward, it’ll end its run with $355-$360m domestic while a run like Annabelle gets it to $298m. If it gets past $306m, it will be above the adjusted gross of The Amityville Horror ($86m in 1979/$306m adjusted) to be the third-biggest R-rated horror movie ever behind only The Exorcist ($986m adjusted) and, if you count it, Fatal Attraction ($156m in 1987/$353m adjusted). So not only will it be the biggest R-rated unadjusted domestic (and worldwide, with $371m global thus far) grosser by a mile and change, it’ll be one of the very biggest in terms of tickets sold as well.

How will Sup Forums ever recover?

Goddamn he looks ghoulish

What a life...

Although this is a meme horror movie jump scares out the ass I'm glad an R rated horror movie that isn't a haunted house / found footage / exorcism movie is doing well. Hopefully It will usher in a good age of horror like the Saw movies did. Paranormal Activity has single handedly ruined the horror genre since 2010, at least It may encourage studios to abandon the PA formula.

I thought it was shooped until I clicked on it

Does that mean you were wrong too since you post on Sup Forums or are you admitting you're a tourist?
I mean I know you wont answer because its the latter

Yeah, well, now IT will ruin Horror by having even more jump scares.

>moving the goalposts
This is why your women get BLACKED

Over the last three years PG-13 found footage shit has been dying, I'm pretty sure IT will finish it off. The new trend will be R-rated novel adaptations.
Where the fuck have you been the last seven years? Mainstream horror has been nothing but jump scares ever since Paranormal Activity came out. IT will help horror, not ruin it.

>Scott Mendelson

Well. It's a good movie that cares about its main cast and doesn't waste the R rating on superfluous bloodshed. It's a 2 hour long movie where every scene counts. I've seen it twice and liked it both times. Hopefully it gives other studios confidence to try the same thing: small budgets with mostly unknown actors and a focus on story, not effects.

ahahaha Sup Forums btfo again

same

>a good age of horror
>like the Saw movies
Those movies are trash user.

There are only a handful of jumpscares in IT. You dumb memers haven't seen IT, if you had you would know the problem with IT is the scares are TOO LOUD. Once something spooky starts happening the score blares as LOUD as possible.

When has Sup Forums ever been right. Seriously I can't remember

>not focusing on the issues
This is why your kids are getting COPPED

Cue-Kain

that was /poltv/ though

2004 - 2010 was a great period of time for horror movies, we had plenty of quality ones across all different sub-genres. The first Saw movie is a classic, the sequels are good fun. Compare them to the Conjuring spin-offs or PA sequels. They're made because hoards of dumb teenagers will come and see them just so they can talk about how hilarious it was when Stacey jumped so hard she spilled her popcorn. They don't care about entertaining you, they're just cranking out a product that will attract dummies. The Saw movies were cash grabs like every sequel in the history of cinema, but each sequel was made with good intentions, they actually gave a shit about entertaining you.

Point is Saw had no negative influence on the genre. People uneducated on the horror genre who like to pretend they do parrot the false meme that Saw popularized torture porn, when the genre NEVER became popular. 2004 - 2010 we had many quality studio produced horrors from a wide variety of horror sub-genres.

Wrong, IT will save horror.
>mid-budget
>the characters are very likeable and well developed
>rated R
These are all good things. IT has jump scares but horror has always had jump scares. Reminder that for nearly a decade most horror movies have been:
>low budget
>the characters are annoying and underdeveloped
>rated PG-13

>IT has jump scares but horror has always had jump scares.
Horror hasn't always had excessive jump scares.

QUINTS FUCKING CONFIRM NIGGERS!!!!!!!!!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Horror has had excessive jump scares for nearly a decade, user. Paranormal Activity started the trend and The Conjuring made it worse. Although The Conjuring is a good movie.

Dem Quads.

But honestly, IT doesn't really have sudden jumpscares. IT has just scares, but they're built up and delivered as a payoff to a setpiece.

The only SUDDEN SPOOKY JUMPSCARE LOUD BANG OUT OF NOWHERE moment in the film is when Pennywise captures Bev in a moment of calm after she's just killed her Dad. I'd even be reluctant to count that. It's not like Sinister or one of the Paranormal Activity movies that throw out loud bangs and spooky visions at random with no set up just to startle the viewer.

I just saw IT and only remember 1 jump scare. The music was loud at times but that's not the same thing.

No shit, why are you stating obvious facts. You said "horror has always had jump scares" as if you're referring to it indefinitely since the dawn of time. You're trying to normalize jump scares as if there's nothing wrong with using them excessively when it's contributing to the shittiness of the genre. Idiot.

>we are literally praising it nonstop
we are btfo

i love knowing all the hate for Sup Forums is just manufactured

also posting pedo pics to get your thread banned

...

I'm not trying to normalize anything, I'm just pointing out that all of you "FUCK IT! IT HAS TOO MANY JUMP SCARES! IT WILL RUIN HORROR!" idiots don't know what you're talking about.

I remember the Tripfag saying that IT needed to make $300m to turn a profit.

Where is he now? What'll be his new excuse? "I-I MEANT DOMESTIC"

>I'm not trying to normalize anything
>Horror has had excessive jump scares for nearly a decade, user.
Yes, you are. Read what you have posted.
>"FUCK IT! IT HAS TOO MANY JUMP SCARES! IT WILL RUIN HORROR!" idiots don't know what you're talking about.
But it does have too many jump scares and excessive jump scares greatly diminish the quality of a horror film. Your move.

could you imagine bev laying like this in the sewer. as boy after boy climbs on top of her and makes her cum?

bev is the reason i saw the movie 4 times and masterbated in the theatre 3 of those times. 4th time I couldn't because i got gum on my hand and it was hard to move my hand

>stephen king wins the horror box office
>meanwhile in trump town

>As boy after boy climbs on top of her and makes her cum?

Only Bill and Ben brought her to orgasm. None of the other boys managed it.

>the force awakens of horror
>avatar and titanic still made more

fuck off star war fags

>The Force Awakens of Horror Movies

Journalism majors was a mistake

You're the guy who said IT will ruin horror, right? My point is IT won't ruin horror. You can't ruin something that has been shit for nearly a decade. IT will improve horror. Your move.

There has never been an instance where Sup Forums is not completely and utterly BTFO.

This is now a pedo thread til it gets banned. You are only allowed to talk about Bev and what you would do to her and what nude scenes you want to see her in

I almost forgot to mention that IT doesn't have as many jump scares as Paranormal Activity or The Conjuring so your "IT WILL RUIN HORROR BECAUSE IT HAS TOO MANY JUMP SCARES!" argument is dumb. I repeat:
>You can't ruin something that has been shit for nearly a decade.

youtu.be/houP7mAjZ0o
more like the dark souls

ben made her cum because she couldn't handle his girth. Bill made her cum because Ben did all the work.

Also reminder Bev should look this young if the movie was true to form. so this is what would have gotten fucked in the sewer

Is "X is the Y of Z" the worst format for an article title?

>You're the guy who said IT will ruin horror, right? My point is IT won't ruin horror. You can't ruin something that has been shit for nearly a decade. IT will improve horror. Your move.
I never said that, I was the one who said It will improve horror and possibly take us out of the slog we're stuck in with low effort found footage / haunted house movies. But you're comment on how excessive jump scares has been a thing for a long time "so we should just accept it" is asinine.

Fuck off with your nostalgia. Aside from the first the saw movies have always been trash.

Pennywise looking at Bev's broken pussy after the boys run a train on her sweet 6th grade ass

IT, like The Conjuring is an example of jump scare horror done right

I watched it and couldn't believe how average and forgettable it was, why so much praise?

That is not an argument. I actually explained my position in great detail and you're response is "FUCK OFF NOSTALGIA GOGGLES".

drumpfkins blown the fuck out eternally

Which young boy would you fuck anons?

pedophile kino is perfect for anti-drumpfkins amirite user?

such sexy kids. Trump will never stop liberal hollywood he should just impeach himself

>tfw this pops up on "President" Poopy Plumpf's PC whenever he tries streaming an IT camrip

SEETHING

>ruin horror
But the 2000s and rob zombie already did that.

there's literally nothing wrong with sexy kids. Trump and his crusade to end pedophilia should just get out

ClownKino is back on the menu, boys

DRUMPF BTFO AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

>Trump and his crusade to end pedophilia

His what now?

his stupid opinion that pedos should be jailed. there was a nationwide pedo raids after his election. Even one of the biggest pedo raids in history in Hollywood happened. This motherfucker cant jail us for pedophilia because we are ALL pedophiles. You can't put the whole country in prison. Pedophilia is normal and Trump should just understand that

>there was a nationwide pedo raids after his election. Even one of the biggest pedo raids in history in Hollywood happened.

You gotta be shitting me. There's no way Trump would turn on his oligarch buddies.

There is one legitimate jumpscare in IT

>The Force Awakens of Horror

It can't be THAT bad.

She does remind me of my old Sup Forums waifu, Heather from Silent Hill 3. What could have been.

>swimming in your tiddy whities
Why?

Okay, where is that fucking tripfag now? He said the movie wouldn't make $300 million and it far exceeded that in its second weekend

spidercatweb.blog/2017/06/24/238-arrested-in-major-hollywood-pedophile-ring-bust/
And there's a bunch more sources and articles out there that detail it better

it was the biggest bust in pedophile bust history. And there were smaller raids all around the country. It honestly shocked me the news weren't covering it because it would have been a win for Trump. That's how antitrump they were

also there's this article
neonnettles.com/news/1888-elijah-wood-hollywood-is-run-by-a-powerful-elite-pedophile-ring

Anyone who hates IT likely hasn't seen it. It's a very good film and since most horror is shit it's even better

because pedophiles made this movie great again

guarantee part 2 flops because it has adults instead of kids

Nigger I watched "it came from outer space" on tv last night
That shot was from the 50s and still had jumpscares in it

>The Conjuring made it worse
There were about 2-3 jump scares in Conjuring. Most of the horror was unseen until the final facts of the movie.

Missing the word "excessive"? Learn to read you moron.

What the fuck does this have to do with movies?

The extended version may have essential scenes:

>Bill Skarsgard, the actor who stars as Pennywise in Stephen King's IT, has come forward to discuss a "disturbing" flashback scene involving his character that was shot but didn't make it into the movie.

>Speaking on Variety's "Playback" podcast, Skarsgard said the scene is set in the 1600s before Pennywise became the terrifying clown. "The scene turned out really, really disturbing," he said, noting he looks more like himself rather than the clown.

>Skarsgard reiterated that the scene is "very disturbing," and said it serves as "sort of a backstory for what IT is, or where Pennywise came from."

>While the scene was ultimately cut from the movie, Skarsgard suggested we may get some of that backstory in New Line's planned sequel. "That might be something worth exploring in the second one," he said. "The idea is the 'IT' entity was dormant for thousands and thousands of years. The [flashback] scene hints on that."

>IT was envisioned as a two-film story from early on, and Skarsgard hopes to explore the more "abstract and metaphysical" aspects of Stephen King's book. "It's like, what is Pennywise? He only exists in the imagination of children. If you don’t believe him to be real then he might not be real. There's an interesting aspect to explore there," the actor said.

Remember the extended cut will have at least 15 minutes more content. Hopefully this scene will be one of them.

Can we fucking stop with the "it is the x of y" bullshit already?
You don't need to make some fucking quasi-popculture reference every fucking time.

IT is the Dark Souls of Movies.

>certified fresh on RT
>breaking box office records like popping balloons
>does just on its second weekend what would have been great for opening weekend

If the studio could go back in time with this knowledge, would it have been possible to make 3 movies, in order to adapt the novel more fully and market it as the ultimate horror trilogy/King story? Or would breaking the children/adult 2-parter mold still be too risky?

What are you talking about, Sup Forums obviously approves TEENAGE GANGBANGS.

Implying I won't just switch from Mr. Hyde to Dr. Jekyll in order to watch adult Bev.

Fuck off. Everyone here likes IT.

The Conjuring is pretty good though.

The Shawshank Redemption > The Shining > Stand by Me > IT 2017 > Misery

Accurate Top 5 King adaptations, lads?

How did Mother cost $30 million? Were there crazy visual effects and huge sets built?

Or did most of it go into the salaries of Jennifer Lawrence and Michelle Pfeiffer?

I noted the spin-offs, not the Conjuring itself. James Wan does care about trying to make a good movie.

>Sup Forums reference
Figures

This site gives at least 20 jump scares:

wheresthejump.com/jump-scares-in-it-2017/

I only agree with one of them.

Shawshank is the only good one.

STEPHEN KING DIDN'T MAKE THE MOVIE YOU FAT FUCKING LOSER

Shinning shouldn't count because it's nothing like the book but whatever > TSR > IT > Stand by me > Carrie = Misery

To be fair, the Shank shouldn't count either seeing as it was originally a 70 page short story. The movie has very little in common with the story. It's always better to take inspiration from King's books, rather than adapt them faithfully.

A new age of King is coming!
