Red Hulk in U.S.Avengers isn't Thunderbolt Ross, but General Maverick
>what was the one thing the old red hulk didn't have?
>Ross's cool mustache
>Let's just slap a stache on the new one, that'll make the fans happy.
I'm strangely happy.
Entire team is replacement guys
Kinda raises the question of why say it would be Ross only to change it? Him being in prison shouldn't have made a difference especially with the fact that he's a previous Avengers and when has jail ever stopped someone. All they really needed was for Cap to vouch for him or have him on some kind of leash similar to Agent Venom. Nothing really there to stop it from happening
Who did Squirrel Girl replace?
Taste.
New Avengers SG was nothing like her solo.
>Remember what I said about early interviews? Well, Thunderbolt Ross isn’t the Red Hulk. Essentially, we had the idea to bring Ross into the book, and it seemed like a great one – but then we were bending over backwards and tying ourselves in knots to make it actually happen without wrecking some other stories. And at some point on a recent trip to the U.S. I was sitting down with [Editor] Tom [Brevoort], face to face, and I said something about how we could just have the Red Hulk be someone else. It turned out that that was a simple, one-step, Gordian Knot-style solution that solved every problem we had… except the problem of saying the Red Hulk was Thunderbolt Ross in previous interviews. So, mea culpa, CBR.
>There’s an all-new Red Hulk. It’s a familiar face to those who’ve been reading “New Avengers,” and it’s someone who didn’t really have any kind of relationship with Bruce Banner. He did have an adversarial relationship with Roberto da Costa, though, and just because they’re working together now, it doesn’t mean he’s forgotten his objections.
I'm surprisingly okay with this.
Hopefully we'll get Ross and Maverick confronting each other at some point, though.
Super excited for this. I really hope it passes the 12 issues. Ewing deserves it.
What the fuck are you talking about? She was exactly like her solo.
It's just that she was 1) in actually entertaining plots and 2) felt like she had her own voice because the characters around her weren't written by (or in imitation of) Ryan North.
That should actually end up being cool.
Ewing's been good at keeping the series going through multiple titles regardless of how long it goes.
I know, I've read everything he did. I just like big numbering. I still expect marvel to return to a big numbering someday.
Aw man I missed the last issue of the best Avengers team?
Well of course. Ross isn't Red Hulk in muh MCU so you have to maintain that movie synergy right?
Are you even capable of having a thought that doesn't involve "m-muh MCU"? Not everything has to do with your precious trash movies.
Next week
>but then we were bending over backwards and tying ourselves in knots to make it actually happen without wrecking some other stories
Like what? The fact that he was in prison?
If Henry Peter Gyrich can keep getting government jobs despite repatedly getting fired for incompetence and craziness, as well as doing blatantly illegal shit, so can Ross.
Just say that the government wanted someone like Ross on the team because despite his past, they still trust him to push America's interests and follow orders.
But... no one is Red Hulk in muh MCU
Fucking "Red Hulk".
At least pretend that you're trying.
That's fucking fantastic and even better.
I'm mad because I want people to realize how great Jeff Parker's Rulk run is and now they can just be like "lol the good Rulk is Maverick"
No actual worries though
On top of that, he was publicly an Avenger and helped save the world numerous times as Red Hulk. I'm really not seeing what could possibly make it that it's even close to bending over backwards to get him on the team
Jesus. Is this bait? I can't tell anymore.
Presumably, they have plans for Ross, is what they're saying.
Also, Ross lost his powers, so it'd be a bit contrived to have him get them back so soon.
I wonder if it still makes that terrible noise.
>Presumably, they have plans for Ross, is what they're saying.
Where? Totally-Awesome Hulk?
"Wrecking some other stories" implies ongoing or future stories. You can't wreck something retroactively. "Contradict", maybe, but that's not what they said.
>You can't wreck something retroactively.
Tell that to Spider-Man.
OMD didn't "wreck" the married Peter stories. They still exist, unsullied, even if they're no longer canon.
>She was exactly like her solo.
Well, I mean, apart from the Down's Syndrome.
I wouldn't say it is, especially since Roberto runs AIM and thus has access to some of the brightest scientist in the MU. Hell the new Rulk's gotta get empowered some way after all
Bummer on one hand, since it would've been good to see some character progression resumed from Parker's run after the awful Waybolts
Still surprisingly okay with it on the other since Maverick is a-okay and Ewing's confirming that someone else is going to use Rulk soon
>inb4 editors pull a Patriot and he disappears
Makes him much more disposable.
Some big threat can one shot him and demonstrate his power.
