Suppose that Emerald wants to switch sides and leave Salem and Cinder behind, regardless of how much she wants to swan dive into Cinder's nethers. Would she be able to escape past the Grimm Beholders watching the halls, or would she enlist Merc's help to get away? Would Mercury even want to join Emerald in switching sides after getting irked?
I feel like this is good material for a greentext or even short story, but Merc's motivations are different than Em's when he isn't even that fiercly loyal to Cinder.
