Not the extended, just the normal in the theater

I was really disappointed by it because I was hoping the rest of the cast (besides Smith, Robbie, and Leto's glorified cameo) would get some more screen time and generally thought the editing turned it into a trainwreck.

But I don't speak for you or the rest of the board.

>what did we think of it?
What do YOU think?

The editing completely killed the movie, yes. I still can't fathom WTF they were thinking.

Trainwreck. It seemed to combine the worst of the DC and Marvel cinematic universe.

I feel bad for Will Smith, he tainted his career with this turd

As someone who hates all of the MCU movies, kind of liked Man of Steel, and is indifferent towards Batman v Superman...this movie somehow manages to be worse than every single one of those. I think it's the worst thing I've ever seen int theaters.

I haven't seen the special edition/extended cut/whatever they call it yet. Anyone know if they fixed the "thirty classic rock songs in a minute" problem the theatrical release has?

I didn't like it. I really wanted this to be good for DCs sake.
It felt like it wasn't edited properly; out of place songs were jammed in for about 15 seconds of each song. Short scenes were stacked on top of each other, it felt like it was directed by someone with ADHD on cocaine.
Boomer, Katana and Diablo were great with their limited screen time.
Enchantress didn't actually ham it up as much as I thought she would. That probably goes to Rick Flagg.
Will Smith wasn't Deadshot, he was just Will Smith.
Jared Leto wasn't actually that bad, he felt menacing and intimidating in his spontaneity, but didn't have enough screen time to feel like a powerful villain.

This rag tag team of crooks become a family for ... reasons? While the individual actors where fine in their performance the plot and editing was just stupid and the trailers made it seem like the Joker would actually be involved in the movie when he was anything but.

To be fair, he agreed to do After Earth. His judgement isn't the best anymore.

Jared Leto was not "fine" and I'm not even a Heath Ledgerfag. He was actively terrible. Everyone else was cool. I wish there was more Boomerang.

It was okay.

Deadshot - was good.
Harley Quinn - A shallow character maybe if they focused on her for a whole movie instead of giving her a tenth.
Diablo - Sir not seen doing anything in this picture until a sacrifice was needed
Slipknow - See diablo
Captain Boomerang - One joke and then ignored
Enchantress - Nice FX horrible plot
Killer Croc - More of a good guy than Batman at this point
Rick Flagg - Romance because they needed a thicker plot
Amanda Waller - Better villain that was ignored
Incubus - Crappy and rehashed FX
Joker - See Harley

Will he appear in another movie? Or was this his only shot?

There have been a great many Jokers from the Buff bodybuilder joker to look maw no face joker. Comparing him to Jokers he is a bit better than 80' Batman TV but without more story all we have is what we saw.

This (and the editing) is what really got me. Say what you want about Guardians of the Galaxy at least their "we're like a family" moment made sense. In Suicide Squad it just came out of nowhere. Its like the writers think that putting characters in the same room together is all that's required for them to bond.

I personally didn't care for MOS or BvS, but I could appreciate what they were trying to go for. Suicide Squad is just edgy, poorly-written shit.

Odds are he will only return for the Suicide Squad 2 and if they don't get him they will just do a full face mask.

>mfw Arrow killed Deadshot and Waller off for this shit piece

Stop with this hive mind shit. You're not Sup Forums, you can think for yourself

I wanted it to be good and I think that the skeleton of a good film is there, but it's clear that at some point in production an executive said 'we need a Guardians of the Galaxy' and then had the film edited down to what it was without understanding what made Guardians successful. Or that the Suicide Squad property really doesn't fit a Guardians of the Galaxy 'we're like family' vibe; it's the opposite of that.

And this is coming from someone who loved Man of Steel and can see the good in Batman V Superman.

>And this is coming from someone who loved Man of Steel and can see the good in Batman V Superman.

Then clearly your opinion is part of the problem.

It's not Independence Day 2, I'll give it that

How was Independence Day 2, anyway? I saw trailers for it all summer and they really felt like a fake trailer that you'd see in a comedy about movie executives making a terrible action film?

I liked it, and I liked Leto most of all, looking forwards to seeing him and Batfleck interact in the future.

Its time to play everyones favorite game: What! Went! Wrong!
>Obnoxious soundtrack that ruins nearly every scene like a ADHD kid working the radio
>20 min exposition dinner. Because fuck you, we need you up to speed fast for the disappointing action scenes.
>Dirty prison guard getting his just desserts? Sorry that was cut
>Hey remember all that PR we did about Joker and all the crazy shit Leto did on set? Well thats longer than his appearance in this film and even less relevant.
>Joker going out of his way for Harley? Sorry, we needed something for the edgey teens and fangirls who pretend to be nerds
>Hey look the Flash! Wish I could give a damn or even care to who this Barry Allen is. See Justice League coming soon!
>We really didnt put enough safeguards around the highly dangerous, evil witch did we?
>We're not even going to pretend Slipknot lives, moving on
>Hey Kitana is in this!.......for some reason. We'll get back to you on that
>2 boring action scenes with zombies
>Apparently neck bombs arent enough, so lets bring a marine escort with them and further misunderstand what Black Ops means
>Don't forget, the government is going to blame the mystical death laser on a clown, assassin, lizard man, a mexican, aussie, and ninja if shit goes south.
>I guess since we did a poor job making these people look like bad guys, we can get away with the "My family!" thing right?.....right?

Nope, it looks like any hopes for another appearance is dead.

Good. He wasnt that great of a Lawton anyway. It was just Will playing himself again

Why did Will Smith play Will Smith, a.k.a. Fresh Prince/Agent J/Hancock/Jim West/etc/etc? He's played rolls that wasn't his same old regular bullshit before. Should've played a mix of I Am Legend and Pursuit of Happyness.

This ain't Venom, we aren't a symbiote or a hivemind.

Truth is we just don't know. There are two major possibilities.

1. He was just doing this for some extra money and they didn't care how he acted it, so he reverted to his standard 'Will Smith' act.
2. He was directed to act like those older roles because WB thought it'd hit key demographics better.

Because Will is slowly turning into Eddie Murphy thinking hes too good for this shit

Shit plot and editing. some of the characters almost make it worth it though

>Deadshot
pretty entertaining. His character was Will Smith as Ant Man with guns. seeing how the DCCU writes it's characters; if they went for a direct adaptation, he would've been a generic hitman. so I'm glad it went this way.

>Harley Quinn
Well played by Margot Robbie, visually done great. good character interactions. obviously a big audience draw and treated as such.

>Diablo
well done arc. cool effects.

>Slipknot
totally useless. marketing him and the using him the way they did is funny though

>Captain Boomerang
>Killer Croc
>Katana
wanted to see more

>Rick Flagg
>Incubus
meh.

>Enchatress
Cool effects. thats it.

>Amanda Waller
Fantastic.

>Joker
not super great. interested to see how he and Affleck work off each other.

>not super great. interested to see how he and Affleck work off each other.
He wont even be in the Batman movie, Ben Affleck doesn't want to deal with Jared Leto

I like it, its not objectively good but there enough good things in there that stop it being bad. Reallly im just hoping we get to see a real directors cut like donner superman.

pretty sure they been friends since before the DC stuff even began

It perfectly incapsulates everything I hate about Harley Quinn.

>an executive said 'we need a Guardians of the Galaxy' and then had the film edited down
Actually they literally turned the roughcut over to Trailer Park (the company that did the comiccon trailer with the Queen soundtrack) which is why you had all the idiotic songs showing up and the MTV style quick cuts.

>letting a trailer company do the final cut

But

why?

I liked it. Wish there was more Katana and El Diablo.
Surprise what people will do for their religion.

>forgot Katana
So, just like the movie.

Reviews are bad but I have no idea why.

I thought it was a decent Harley Quinn: The Movie, Featuring Will Smith movie

They should've just gone with a Joker/Harley movie, or not changing the tone from the first look trailer.

>new characters are garbage with terrible acting (Jessie Usher as Hiller in particular), save for the African soldier and maybe the alien ball
>returnees are garbage, except for Spiner's
>mediocre FX, CGI amidst generic action and destruction scenes
>dull writing with hardly any pacing

The problem is the impulse they feel to make every comic book films huge and about saving the world. As soon as the plot turned into save the world, they were stuck on having to make them heroes and learn about family and shit.

They should've dropped the save the world nosense and just had Amanda make them go grab some device from the hive or something.
