Episode 2 was very good. I was optimistic last week. This week I'm officially hyped.

Not sure what show they're making. Ep 1 suffered from Expositional Excess Disorder, but that's to be expected.

The homages to ST were fine, but I kept waiting for them to play them more for laughs.

Enjoyed Ep 2, but again, I'm not sure if they've found their footing with balancing the comedy (which I expected more of, but I don't insist on that)and the straight Trek-ish storytelling.

It's got a lot of potential, if they can firmly establish what they are, and if what they are is not too disjointedly schizo between SCI-fi horse-opera and Sethish comedy.

Just saw the 2nd episode. Once it got past the poop jokes I liked it. Overall the I like the series, but I don't think it's a good sign that it's at its best when Seth MacFarlane is off camera

Ok so i've seen the two episodes as well and to be honest this is really promising so far i always hated seth and his mediocre way of writing simplistic Normie jokes on all his career but if only they could improve in that maybe this series might be a great homage to TNG and Star Trek overall, STD is looking very opposite of what Star Trek used to be so for star trek fans i suggest to stick with this show for now until we strike down which is the most ''shitty'' show like always

quick rundown on why the cute girl had no eyebrows ep1 and had them ep2

maybe they tried to do the Spock debut easter egg

STOP FUCKING SHILLING THIS SHOW

t.CBS

Hi shanequa how's that std going down there

I'm just guessing guess that it has to do with changes made between a Ep. 1 pilot and actual production.

But it MIGHT be an in-joke, referencing network publicity stills before the original series started on the air, in which Spock's eyebrows had been airbrushed out so he didn't loo "too Satanic."

I want her to smother me with her pusy to be quite honest with you family.

How long until that ugly faggot injects his leftist politics into this shitshow?

Pilot is shot months before the rest of the series.
Executives give creatives notes and probably demanded they give her eyebrows and remove the flat part of her nose/forehead.

It's already been moved to Thursdays. Lol what a disaster.

It was always going to be on Thursdays. They ran the first couple of episodes after NFL to give it a boost.

You're all Thursdays

Is it worth my bandwidth?

I could be streaming an episode of the Shield instead of trying to download this.

Fuck no. It's a show made by the degenerate left to try to ride the coattails of the glorious return of national socialist Star Trek.

>captain becomes okay with his cheating wife and wants to work with her within just 1 episode
Already done senpai

>muh identity politics
Seth shits on both sides. If you can't shit on both sides, you can't shit on either.

>captain becomes okay
he subconsciously still wants to smash

This show is full-on SJW now, surprised you guys are still doing this but that's cool. They moved it to Thursday, is this good or bad for it?

Is it still only gonna air on CBS' paid platform? Bc THAT kills it, like setting it up to fail

>This show is full-on SJW now
So is potus but the left still keep attacking him and the right keep defending him

The Pilot is meh, but episode 2 is good comfy tv, and harkens back to TNG.

>Seth Macfarlane

is hating seth macfarlane the one thing Sup Forums agrees with reddit on.

it is kino but i hope that seth doesn't do what the pilot does and have the ship be destroyed every other episode; it loses all stakes if they get a new ship erry day

i cannot stand this cuck

>they have replicators
>the quantum drive effect looks exactly like warp drive effect
>they have teleporters... which are called transporters
>it's not a parody
Lawsuit incoming. This show is going to be destroyed. It's worse than Axanar. This is a violation of intellectual property, and it WILL be ended. For authentic and legitimate Star Trek, check out Star Trek Discovery.

galaxy quest didn't get sued

galaxy quest was an actual parody, and also it was a meta.

Star Trek didn't originate any of those terms and has never claimed, under any kind of ownership or banner, exclusive use of any of them.

tldr shut up faggots.

>0.05 federation credits have been added to your intergalactic bank account.

so uh, where's the rule 34 of this show? something has to have been made

Star Trek Discovery, coming September 24th.

It already aired?
Has anyone uploaded them anywhere yet?

this is like star trek with shit tier story, and trying to fill the shit holes with comedy. Except the comedy is shit also

>start episode 2
>it's literally dedicated to the qt
>oh shit get hype here we go
>interesting setup with the qt being literally too young and in over her head
>development is completely fucked
>resolution is the least satisfying it can be, she literally justs gives in to pressure multiple times, never really making a decision and showing that she's truly not fit to be in charge

Like episode 1, it's a 6/10. Hopefully the next one goes somewhere more interesting.

Episode 2 was very good. I was optimistic last week. This week I'm officially hyped.

>galaxy quest was an actual parody
It was not a parody. It was a pastiche.

Yeah, it premiered on September 10th. The second episode was two days ago.

So is there any liberal humor in it or DONAL GRUMMMMMPFF REEEEEEE shit?

"Old Wounds" September 10, 2017 2.7/9 8.56 million

"Command Performance" September 17, 2017 2.2/8 6.63 million

LMAO

The football game ran long and it didn't start on time. Those are pretty good numbers, all things considered, CBS.

Why can't their baby be female? I didn't see episode 1.

>Sets that look like they belong on Star Trek
>Shots that are straighht up lifted from Star Trek
>Characters that are exactly likes ones from Star Trek just reskinned
>Technology shown in Star Trek shown almost the same exact way on The Orville
>Show literally feels like you're watching an episode of Star Trek if everything was low-key and casual as fuck
How is CBS not sending a team of lawyers after their ass?

it's a hundred percent this

spock had different eyebrows in the first episodes

Yes. You won't like it.

His species is all male. So the baby being a female is a biological impossibility. At least, that's what we're led to believe.

>It's a all crew member are constantly pushing buttons sci fi episode
No seriously, is there any sci fi shows/movies that show characters at consoles who AREN'T constantly pushing buttons? It always ruins immersion because in real life machinery that is overly complicated don't require input every nano-second.

The show really needs at least three seasons to find it's feet I think. Anything less than two just isn't fair to judge it on. But form what i see in the comments on social media the normies love it and hate STD just as much as anyone else. So hopefully there's some hope. Hopefully

Because they severely underestimated how deeply, DEEPLY shitty their own Trek product is.

>"Sir! Fox as a sci-fi series from Seth MacFarlane that might jeopardize our new Trek series by being available to the masses for free!"
>"Seth who? The one from Family Dad? There's no way he can make a show on par with our lensflares and liberal appeasing multi-ethnic tri-gender vegan gluten free non-micro-aggression show!"

Bortus' species actually has four genders. His egg was fertilized by his partner. The male genders killed off all of the females, and killed either female gender if it hatched for centuries until only the male genders survived. But, now we have atavism. The next episode will deal with Bortus and his partner attempting to give their newborn a sex change procedure, which the crew will oppose. It's a very controversial episode which may not even air.

Not going to lie The Orville is FAR more interesting to watch then Star Trek.

I agree. The second episode felt like a classic Next Gen episode. It has me excited to see where the series goes.

it doesnt delve into modern politics, thank Jupiter it doesnt

This series is honestly looking kinda awesome to me.

The first episodes look like they're clunky due to how it has so much exposition and attempts to define characters. But after that's done it should be able to be as comfy as DS9 got to be.

We haven't had many comfy tier shows on TV for a long fucking while now so this should fill a great niche.

>replication technology is solely associated with Star Trek
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_assembler
>quantum drive looks like warp drive
remember when LucasFilm got sued for Star Wars's derivative usage of light speed travel by CBS?
>they have transporters which are also called this name
have you ever seen The Fly? no, well carry on then

I don't get it are you implying CBS isn't free as well?

Star Trek: Discovery is only available on CBS: All Access, a pay-to-watch streaming service ala Netflix, after the pilot.

My parents like it and they have shit taste.

Any good?

It isn't. The first episode will air on CBS for free, but after that, you have to pay for their exclusive CBS All Access streaming service. Shittier than Netflix but for the same price!

technically it is releasing on CBS All Access (paid service) and then on CBS weekly after the first episode as they are using a hybrid release type:

>Star Trek: Discovery is set to debut on CBS on September 24, 2017, with that episode and the rest of the 15-episode first season being made available on All Access. The season is split into two chapters, with the first chapter finishing in November 2017, and the second chapter beginning in January 2018.

It's hard to explain, but it feels more "human". Not as sterile and doesn't feel like it was written by some uber nerd or autist.

Also, technically they don't have transporters on The Orville. They use shuttles.

>bats are nature's creatures!
>costumes have been a thing for centuries!
>men are who we are!
>therefore I can combine them and make a bat-man series!

Episode 2 had teleportation. And they called it transportation. This series is dead. It's going to be impeached right into the ground.

That first in command is a qt. Shame about that mole in between her eyes though.

Manbat (show where a vigilante vampire without supernatural powers dresses like a bat and fights crime) wouldn't be a derivative work. You're just proving my point

Yeah, I forgot the Calivan or whatever has it. But the main characters don't.

>Impeached
pic related.

The nig who sits at the front needs better lines.
He has been a waste of screen time whenever he is in focus when we could have the qt lieutenant instead.

He spent most of their time together pissed off at her.

He even outright says he's glad because he thought they were horrible together, which we also see.

Exactly how much samefaggery shilling is going on here?

*needs better line delivery

CBS don't own a copyright on space travel, teleporters or matter replication

Your an idiot who doesent know how the law works.

I really liked the first ep. Seems promising.

...

I watched episode 2 a few hours ago and I actually kind of liked it. It's like Star Trek with script punch ups. It certainly felt more like Trek than the Kelvin movies.

I'm not sure how well pop culture humor works in a series that's meant to take place in the far future, but that's my only real gripe.

Are posts like this generated from a script? It's like everyone is saying the same thing with slightly different variations. It's very, very strange.

First two episodes were surprisingly good.
I just hope they eventually get past the whole divorce shit and move on to something else, or at least give it a rest for a couple episodes.
....unless them getting back together is just a story arc thing.
Good stuff anyway. Good characters, nice atmosphere, jokes don't get in the way. Pretty comfy shit compared to what Star Trek Diversity is gonna be like.

you're perceived reality is a self generated illusion projected into the world.

I'm wondering the same thing about most of the positive posts in these threads.
I'm not even going to insinuate everyone that likes this show is a shill but a lot of them do seem to repeat themselves.

I just got here chief

Also the acting Captain girl is adorable. She looks like she's twelve and surrounded by adults.

That's why I think it's better then Star Trek, the characters in this show actually feel human and real, unlike in Trek where most of the time the characters were the opposite. Well, other then the red shirt girl. She's cute but wow does she need to work on her acting a little.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand pretty much anything else by Seth MacFarlane, but the guy just went out of his way to make a more free-spirited Star Trek show.
They even have the opening, closing and transitioning style of Star Trek down to a T so far.

I think they came up with transporters no?
That being said, it's not like you see the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate gnawing at DC's pockets just because he did the whole "Stronger than a locomotive! Can leap tall buildings in a single bound!" thing first.

>They even have the opening, closing and transitioning style of Star Trek down to a T so far.

Ed Mercer has a fucking Ready Room with a computer that has a direct line to high command. It's Star Trek in everything but name.

>Trekkies are so starved for halfway-decent content that they give a Seth MacFarlane Star Trek parody the benefit of the doubt

What a time to be alive.

Star Trek is an overrated space opera, and really hit or miss - more miss then hit the newer the stuff. 10% is kino and 90% of it is literally unwatchable.

>She looks like she's twelve

I didn't realize how cute she was until the second episode. All the promos and first episode made her bleh looking without the eyebrows.

I really hope they cut the cheating bantz soon. It has already gotten old.

You really have to see her among other characters to get the full effect. She's like 5 feet tall.

she look much better with the eyebrows. very fuckable. wonder if sheis on cfake yet.

>Gets resolved first episode
>They bring it back up in the second
>Literally no material so they're recycling stuff from the first episode
Oh boy here we go, this is going to be one long season.

shit why then they didnt sue stargate?
or firefly
or literally any other serious or "Serious" show with anything related to ST "tech" so far?

oh thats right cause they wont win anyways

Real talk here, do you think they'll ever air cool episodes that focus more on weird sciency shit then character development? Like the epsisode from Star Trek where Picard joins with John Locke and they go look for a failed science experiment vessel, or the one where everyone catches a disease from the original Star Trek series and go mad, or the one where the enterprise D starts to randomly fail and everyone thinks it's a design flaw the designers overlooked, etc. Those always freaked me out as a kid and were so interesting to watch.
