Was the whole 'pre-teens band together to fight a threat' really as big a thing in the 80's as the media makes it seem today or is it more disingenuous fake faux-80's nostalgia bullshit?

oh shut up there's already a gorillion IT threads already you pansy ass fuck bag

No one remembers the 80, we remember what we think the 80s are, that is why every thing is getting rebooted, no one watched Jurassic Park but we pretend we did.

no one watched ET, but we all know the bike flies

What a stupid post, I can't even begin to imagine what your thought process was, it's a fucking plot of a horror novel! Goddamn you're dumb!

Agreed.

It is a very weird phenomenon, I think as a consequence to people's tendency to generalize an entire decade. I think it'll be interesting to see what people consider iconic of the 00's and 10's in a few decades.

>No one remembers the 80
>no one watched Jurassic Park
>no one watched ET

no its just people having fond memories of the few films that used this trope, like the goonies and shit

goonies, monster squad, etc.

It really works better in the 50's or whenever the book is set

>no one watched Jurassic Park but we pretend we did.

Millennials. Just because you weren't old enough to see Jurassic Park in the theaters doesn't mean the rest of us didn't.

this trope of preteens banding together to fight a threat has been a common trope for the longest time.
The reason the "70's/80's nostalgia is associated with it so hard is because of shit like the Goonies and ET. But honestly beyond those two movies I can't think of anything from that time period that uses this trope too much. Instead, I can think of shit like Super 8, Stranger Things, and now IT that drive this association.

PARTY

I don't know about 'pre-teens band together to fight a threat', but there was several 'pre-teens have an adventure' movies, to where it could be considered a subgenre unto itself.

>ET
>Goonies
>Monster Squad
>Stand By Me
>The Gate

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones that spring to mind. I would almost count The Sandlot in there too, but that was 90s.

I think it's a popular thing because kids can relate to it, and it makes adults nostalgic for their own childhoods.

You do know that Millennials watched Jurassic Park as kids, right? In theaters, no less.

In fact, I'd be willing to wager you're a Millennial.

>Jurassic Park
>80's

My sweet little whorish Pennywise. I did as you told me, you dirty little clown, and pulled myself off twice when I read your letter. I am delighted to see that you do like being fucked arseways. Yes, now I can remember that night when I fucked you for so long backwards. It was the dirtiest fucking I ever gave you, darling. My prick was stuck in you for hours, fucking in and out under your upturned rump. I felt your fat sweaty buttocks under my belly and saw your flushed face and mad eyes. At every fuck I gave you your shameless tongue came bursting out through your lips and if a gave you a bigger stronger fuck than usual, fat dirty farts came spluttering out of your backside. You had an arse full of farts that night, darling, and I fucked them out of you, big fat fellows, long windy ones, quick little merry cracks and a lot of tiny little naughty farties ending in a long gush from your hole. It is wonderful to fuck a farting clown when every fuck drives one out of him. I think I would know Pennywise's fart anywhere. I think I could pick his out in a roomful of farting clowns. It is a rather girlish noise not like the wet windy fart which I imagine fat Losers have. It is sudden and dry and dirty like what a bold girl would let off in fun in a sewer at night. I hope Pennywise will let off no end of his farts in my face so that I may know their smell also. L

I was born in '81 so I'm in that weird in-between zone. I do identify more with Millennials than Generation X, though.

Old guy born in 1982 here. It was a fairly popular thing due to stuff like The Goonies, Monster Squad, Explorers, The Lost Boys and probably some others I'm forgetting.

no shit you cuckbag but in the novel it was the 50's, now they've pushed it forward so that they were kids in the 80's deliberately to push this meme cliche, even got the kid from Stranger Things to hammer down even more

is this a pasta

Small Soldiers would probably be another one.

I like this trope. Gives me more fapping material

That was late 90s though.

>I forgot about this piece of childhood kino
I am Archer, emissary of the Gorgonites.

Kids going on adventures was definitely a thing in the 80s.

and so they can set the followup in modern day.

it is unironically James Joyce.

>someone puts together a collection of BRAAAAAAP threads and it becomes the great 21st century novel

no im serious, he took a section from a series of raunchy letters james joyce wrote to his mistress and edited it to be about pennywise. look it up if you don't believe me. highly esoteric shitpost.

i believed you, i'm just saying that Sup Forums will produce the next great literature

Pussywise

You should make a post about it on Reddit.

It's better adventure than adults who know life bring serious.
Younger preteens allow a different angle.

00s will be DVDs, everyone playing original xbox/gamecube, Aim, and Myspace

10s will be Internet memes, smart phones, Twitter/Facebook and Youtube/netflix/streaming.

All the kids who grew up with Star Wars were the same age as the protagonists of these movies.

George created the Star Wars generation. Spielberg exploited it by making movies specifically targeted at them.

The movies essentially stopped being made to this formula when those kids got too old and started catching up on shit like A Clockwork Orange and Blue Velvet.

They are 100% an 80s Phenomenon. All kids/YA movies were Disney dominated prior to the 80s.

I remember playing on a commodore 64 in 1989 and the room smelling of really noxious carpet cleaner which probably contained chemicals banned now

maybe thats why no-one remembers

>no one watched Jurassic Park
>no one watched ET

You sound like a huge faggot

I was born in 97 and i watched both jurassic park and et, am i lovecraftian?

i mean goonies was pretty popular and so were most disney movies
