Have you read Donald Quest?

If so, how was it?

...

no, I have not read that story.

...

...

I just bought issue #1 yesterday. My LCS had shipment problems, and are getting their stuff late. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't follow the original 0/# convention. And at a bimonthly pace, they're gonna take a LONG ASS time getting this series out.

...

...

maybe the sales are not sufficient good.

...

I don't know if these guys are aping Frank Miller (likely because this was made in the 90s) or if Frank Miller stole someone in Europe's style (likely because the guy got around in terms of art circles in the 20th Century), but the way everything was drawn back in the early issues gave me a strong Ronin vibe due to how crusty and loose it all was.

I think they have this style only in this issue. A lot of artists came and went in PKNA.

The Double Duck crossover was nice, but I'm still hoping for a Morrison-esque myth arc that tries to tie Donald as Scrooge's sidekick, Uncle, Odd Job Mickey & Goofy Pal, Superhero, Super Spy, and whatnot into a single mega narrative of a life.

Thank goodness the writing and artwork has helped this series age well better than most 90s-00s comic work

end storytime

T'was fun.
We need more Duck Avenger and perhaps some Don Rosa storytimes.

bump

PKNA HAS FUCKING AWESOME COVERS AND THEY CHOOSE THAT SHITTY ONE?

Yes, I fucking mad.

Also, wake me up when they get to Pikappa or New Era. Pls skip v2 ;_;

in Italian the word used is also a synonym for "dead". It gives more sense to Donald's face(Scrooge corrects him that Ducklair just went off somewhere and nobody know where)

Also, in the original there is no mention of an "extended stay" at the world summit.

In a later issue they explain their absence by them referring to events in THEIR OWN book(spoiler: aliens there, too)

Ammazzati.

Something like that would probably end up written by Silvia Ziche, who would demonstrate much better understanding of comics than Morrison.

by the way, Shorty's original name is Sam Plot.

Apparently this was too boring of a name for the USAudience... so they renamed him Shorty Scenario. Totally less boring.

yes, this change is really weird.

in the original, abducting the cast was an experiment aiming to see if they would catalyze the emotional energies of the viewers

weapon PKNA-00(a reference to the original Italian title and number of this issue) was originally weapon system 87bis.
It was a meaningless number, supposed to suggest the shield had a cubic fuckton of functions.

Little spoiler: this weapon IS going to be used again, but not the way you think.

Editorials based on the newest Italian reprint... not a speck as fun as the originals, but they were just impossible to print in the USA.

>PKNA HAS FUCKING AWESOME COVERS AND THEY CHOOSE THAT SHITTY ONE?
it's a variant, they got better cover.

apparently a number of changes are made by Disney Executives after the translator has brought his translation.

Also, Lyla's original name is Lyla Lay, which is just too porn for american tastes

Sad that this series is only selling around 5,000 issues. I wonder why Disney doesn't market their licensed comics well. You'd think they'd sell these and the Barks and Rosa Fanta collections in their huge Disney Stores, but nope. They should at least have the TPBs.

>>Sad that this series is only selling around 5,000 issues
IIRC, they are the numbers for LCS only, while IDW sells the Disney titles on newstands, groceries, etc, too, and we don't know those numbers

Also, this is just a translation, maybe 5k copies on LCSs are enough

>while IDW sells the Disney titles on newstands, groceries, etc, too
Well, I didn't know that. Never seen them myself. And yes, I'm going off the Comichron numbers which only count Diamond's distribution to North American LCSs. And it seems to be selling at around the same than other Disney IDW titles (at least compared to Donald Duck). I hope they don't cancel it. Also sucks that it's gonna take an eternity to publish the series.

>eternity
They could actually save a shitload of translationtime (aka money) if they asked the guys that did the scanlations to waive their rights, so they could use those as a base.

AFAIK, they removed their links to the scanlations when this official version was announced.

I wonder how far into the series Jon has translated. Might ask him on Twitter.

>AFAIK, they removed their links to the scanlations when this official version was announced.
Yeah. I was a bit miffed because I wanted to download them after my hard drive with my comics died. Thankfully I was able to get them on the hubs.

Finally!
Good job OP!

>In a later issue they explain their absence by them referring to events in THEIR OWN book(spoiler: aliens there, too)
Can you explain? Which book?
