A fair and well thought out critique of the event. I agree, but we'll have to see how the media spins it, particularly which quote or moment in particular they latch onto as "TERRIBLE, END YOUR CAMPAIGN" for Trump like they normally do. He's gotta prep, but I feel his demeanor came off as much more calm compared to Hillary. If he can keep that image up and tighten up his answers, he should do fine.
Hillary did straight up awful. I know I'm biased, but she did terrible.
Trump didn't do great, but compared to her he looks fine. He has stuff to work on before the debates.

Polls are a little sparse for this event, since it wasn't supposed to be a head-to-head match up. When the debates come around, then we'll be firing on all cylinders.

Honestly they both did very poorly. Hillary got a bug up her ass the second it started and her first lie was 3 minutes into her questioning. She also tiptoed around the answers to a lot of questions like a good little politician and the moderator kept having to call time. Gave a few semi hard hitting questions at the front.
Trump "answered" more questions (most from the opposing party or undecided), but gave standard rally answers in a scattergun shot of his talking points sort of rambled out. It came off as clumsy and amateurish, however he actually straight out answered two questions ("service guarantees citizenship (essentially)" and My full veteran policy is detailed on the website) and didn't back down on his stance with Putin and Russia as the moderator tried in vein to tie it to him and became agitated with Trump, showing his bias. The moderator was also far more aggressive with Trump and interrupted him frequently.
Hillary did the same old song and dance where she says she's learned her lesson (she hasn't) and vomits out lie after lie especially in regards to emails which seem to REALLY piss her off when asked.
Trump did the deflection in a far less "graceful" way.
In closing Trump takes it, but he needs to clean up big league for the debates. Everyone else will say it was clear bias against Hillary and the shilling will continue.
Expect Trumps poll numbers to "decline" in the coming days before rebounding before the first debate then "crashing" after that. You and I both know what's going on.
Keep a close eye on things and stay good.

They both didn't do great, but neither of them did poll-bombing gaffes.
The illegals in army question he handled great however. It could've been the second "punishing women for illegal abortions" scandal and Trump diffused it as best as he could. Watching him shut that potential danger down gives me a lot of relief.
All in all, I want Trump to use this forum experience to sharpen his debate performance.

The only thing I disagree with is the assessment that Trump's performance was very poor.
He didn't make gains and his decisive answers were cancelled out by his cautious demeanor, but he held his own and dodged all the traps made to make him appear unhinged.
Honestly his largest windfall didn't even come from him, but came from Shillary being so flooded with drugs that she couldn't keep her calm.
