I don't keep up with the show that much but how many times have the VA's been changed? Like 6 at this point?
Gumball sounds a lot like original him which I like but I'm not feeling Darwin.

Gumball has changed twice now (season 1-2, then Season 3-4 + a bit of 5).
As far as I know, this is the first time Darwin changed.
The second voices were shit. S1-S2 voices were the best. The new Gumball's voice is pretty good too.

First off, we've only head a few lines from the "new" voice actors. Secondly, the new Gumball VA, from the preview, sound almost exactly like Jacob.
There is a reason why I put new in quotation marks in my other reply. I believe these third voice actors are only a temporary set of replacements. The circumstances of this replacement just seem so strange. Not only did nobody announce the replacements were going to happen but Jacob and Terrell were at the CN recording studio as recently as August. In fact, I have proof of my statement right here:

Conclusion: there might be a chance that Gumball and Darwin will be getting older soon and they're just using temporary VAs that sound more childish before the growing up episode happens.

I imagine in this case, it's because they cast kids and then their voice breaks. It happened in Loud House with Lincoln and they changed his VA midway through Season 1.
Young girls are more commonly voiced by adults, so it's only the young boys it happens with.

Honestly, the new VAs sound a bit like Lincoln and Clyde and that really throws me off, they lack the snarky tone of the previous sets of voices.
They only did the first episode of season three and that episode made it painfully obvious that either they go the South Park route and just raise the pitch artificially even if it meant they would never sound like actual children again or have their roles replaced by a new duo of voice actors.
I wouldn't say entirely. Gumball's voice already sounded much deeper in the beginning of season two than he did in any of the season five episodes yet they kept Logan on the role for one more season.

In Clarence, every single girl is voiced by an actual kid, while on the boy side of things Clarence, Sumo, Belson, Percy, etc. are voiced by male adults
Eh. Didnt like how original Lincoln was always tripping over his words. Harvey Beaks has some good kid VAs though.
Also funny how both Timmy Turner and Ben 10 are ten, yet Timmy is more high picthed. FoP got off lucky, since now modern Ben is the one that sounds off.

Nothing wrong with child actors for a show like Gumball (when they're good, but that applies to anyone of course). They even made a whole episode about changing actors.

That could also be attributed to them expecting Season 2 to be the last at some point too. Logan sounded really deep in some episodes but at the same time they did go back and forth and digitally pitch his voice up to make him sound younger in there too. Compare his voice in The Bumpkin (normal) to The Plan (pitched) for instance.
It felt like they were feeling out what they could do with it and when it became clear that even with the pitch he sounded too old (with him still being pitched in The Kids and sounding noticeably different) they decided to recast him and Kwesi.
I imagine with this they didn't want to delay the inevitable again because you can tell int he last few Season 5 episodes that the VAs were being digitally pitched again.

Darwin isn't a bad VA, he just sounds different from the last two. Doesn't sound sweet and innocent at all which is basically his entire character.
Same style that they used the last time their VAs changed.
I would say that if Jacob didn't publicalky demonstrate his Gumball voice to the public in November if last year (around the time he recorded his last episodes).

The thing is even that tone is totally off from how Gumball could reasonably sound, and it would only get worse over time. With him sounding like that you're able to see why they had to pitch the voices in some previous Season 5 episodes. I feel that going that route of digitally altering it is something the engineer or director just may not really like resorting to also. They may see it as a thing where it's like "what's the point of even going thru the trouble of casting kid actors if we have to basically do the South Park thing since they can't totally pull it off on their own anymore"?
Yeah, though at this point she sounds like she's the same age as her brothers instead of being several years younger. I doubt they'd have to worry about recasting her unless the show goes on for like 4-5 more years or something.

Firstly, if you would had actually watched the first interview fully and heard him doing the Gumball voice, you'd hear something almost exactly like his early season 5 voice coming out of his natural vocal cords (no digital pitching used at all).
Secondly, as I said in my previous reply, Jacob has for some reason entered a period of stunned growth which I have no explanation for.
To be honest though with the whole VA change, I just want an user or somebody else to ask Jacob or Big Ben on Twitter about the whole VA change so that the whole thing can be over with.
That part was so fucking sick. I have so much respect into how much effort this show puts into its animation.

Fun episode although that one joke with Gumball scoffing went on for a bit too long for me, and that sequence near the end was fantastic.
On the voices I think the new Gumball sounds fine and he just needs to ease himself into it. but the new Darwin's a bit too old/deep. It needed to be higher pitched.
