HORSE
SHIT

So true

I was honestly shocked to find out that Americans getting chip and pin is a recent thing. How fucking bizarre

here in norway the swipe functionality doesnt work anymore

chip only to prevent card skimmers

The civilised world has been doing this for a decade or so now. Even market stalls accept chip or contactless

i like my archaic local credit union visa card

I've used a PIN number for years but the chip has only been in effect for, maybe a year now. Wierdly enough when I use the chip, I don't need to enter my PIN

That's just it: we still don't have PINs for credit; just debit. They basically added the chips, cost everyone a bunch of time and money and it did nothing for security.

My bank (Wells Fargo) is supposed to be sending me one of those chipped cards probably soon as my non expires in October. Dunno if this a good thing I was so used to simple swiping

I don't think I've ever used the swipe function.

I actually miss swiping my card.

Card Machine Method Power Ranking
1. Tap
2. Swipe
Power Gap
90000000001. Chip

>Only in US

at least we dont have to use rocks and trinkets as currency roach

Though I would hate the moments when the swipe doesn't work or you do it the wrong direction and/or side because people's machines are different. Makes ya seem stupid.
Yeah my debit card's had a pin number forever . DESU I don't have any credit cards which is odd considering I'm 30 years old. My debit card's pretty much acted the same except I don't have to worry about interest charges and I only pay how much I actually have. I'm never sure if me getting a specific credit card would ever be a good idea for me. I admit I'm kind of stupid when it comes to this.

Yeah, sure man.

>spend $2
>it makes me sign
fucking why

Problem is most places have failed to replace their card terminals, and some places POS systems are too outdated to run chip transactions.

Chips are harder to fake than magnetic strips which are almost as easy to fake as a barcode.

>gas stations are given exemptions on deadlines for upgrading for the next few years
>still the only place my credit card number was stolen from

someone needs to gas these sandnigger towelheads that are running the pumps

omg so true

What did he mean by this?

>americans

>Chips is new technology in burgerland

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

>Excuse me, where the fuck do you think you are?
Soooo Trueeeee

>Though I would hate the moments when the swipe doesn't work or you do it the wrong direction and/or side because people's machines are different. Makes ya seem stupid.
>Giving a fuck what some minimum wage cashier or people in line behind you think
I take my sweet ass time, why do I care about those peoples opinions? Especially the people behind me; Do they not realize that by merely being an asshole I can delay them for whatever they've got to do that day?

Wait until you find out our internet is 10 times slower than yours.

You should get a credit card, it's better for building credit and will likely offer better fraud protection than your debit card does.

In before jew stuff

More like now we have NFC and don't even need to put anything anywhere, but I still put it in most of the time.
Haven't swiped in five years

>he has a bank account the government can freeze
>he has a card leaving paper trails a mile long and a chip that tracks your physical location
>europoors are "proud" of this "technology", probably surprised by us not having cameras on every street corner yet

anyone here claiming they are anything other than a best goy is completely absurd

Well I think I do have some decent credit score anyway. Things like paying my small student loan (since i only did that my final year) payments every month (less than 60 dollars) have done that job for me.
Fraud protection, eh maybe you could be right here but then the issue is : Why basically pay "more" to pay for stuff using that vs using the money on my bank account without the interest payments? It's the same money I would use the pay the credit card.

>and some places POS systems are too outdated to run chip transactions.
>too outdated
What the hell are they running, DOS? Most POSes here run Windows 98/XP and have handled chip+pin since forever.

Just get a rewards card and pay it off in full every month, and you will actually be paying *less* instead of more. There's no interest on 0.

we have 20x the people you do the main reason the technology doesnt get rolled out timely is because the greedy fuck banks can get away with delaying it as long as possible

>work at dairy queen in a mall
>every other fuckstick tries handing me their card when the reader is staring them right in the face
>have to tell 99% of the people to use the fucking chip

*slow claps*
*steps out of the shadows*

Heh it's shit, kid. Your meme, I mean. It fucking blows. If you were going for a sage, well, nice job. You've earned it. Here's a little tip for ya, no charge: Instead of posting the same shit meme in a new thread and trying to ram it down our throats, try making a better one.

That's because we use you niggers as beta testing.

>using anything other than cash/gold/silver

Might as well get 666 tattooed on your foreheads and an RFID chip in your wrist you retards.

Because thieves are honorable and would never forge a signature.

I was once told by an older gentleman that I met in a cigar shop that it's always best to pay in cash. When that isn't an option he said he would make sure that his monthly credit bill was payed on the same day. He seemed to know his stuff, motherfucker bought a Steinway in cash.

...

haha nice one sean

>dey're breakin da rules!!1
autist

Nope.fuck that shit.i just dont activate the replacement cards they send me.

shutup queer

I work at a Starbucks in a mall and deal with similar stuff. We don't have a chip reader and the damn thing has to be queued from the register or else there will be a read error. Whoever thought that was necessary was a moron.

It is World News. It shows that America is actually a decade behind the technology of other nations.
Lrn2digdeeper

Enjoy having your bank account drained and/or frozen the moment the government decides they want to.

We have tens of millions of stubborn, arrogant baby boomers who refuse to accept new technology and act like they are being victimized when things change.

Try explaining to a 60 year old that their $2,000 HDTV isn't going to magically make their DVD collection look better. They get vicious.

They also couldn't grasp that their HD cable subscription wasn't going to do anything if they kept running their cable box to the TV with composite cables.

>It shows that America is actually a decade behind the technology of other nations
in terms of actually getting around to udpating our tech, yes, we're behind over nations
in terms of inventing the tech in the first place, we're still head of the pack

USE CASH YOU FUCKING FAGGOT BANK SLAVE!

*other
wow,
just kill me now

See, this guy knows whats up.
This guy, right here, knows how to make any thread Sup Forums relevant.
Good on you. Sure we could fit 6 more Trump Generals in our catalog, but maybe just maybe we should try a new flavor for the day. My man.

>not having tap

plebs

When will you guys get international measuring system?

>went to America
>had a meal somewhere
>they took my card
>expect them to bring back a reader
>they give me my card and ask me to sign the receipt

u wot m8

I've stopped using my card and started using cash again. Fuck this shit.

>It shows that America is actually a decade behind the technology of other nations.
Maybe in whatever shithole you live in. As an aside, I was using this touch shit with my phone for 4 years now.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_4

>the chip is a new thing for americans
I bet you cant even scan the cards

Kek

that sums up america alright

all of the work, none of the benefits, you don't even have paid vacation or public healthcare

keep getting cucked by the rest of the world

now get back to work on those rocket engines bob, those satellites won't get into orbit by themselves

10/10 reply man. You are a gentleman and a scholar!

>the happening finally happens
>Obama declares martial law and freezes everyone's bank accounts
>be me, wise gold owner
>use my gold to buy an escape helicopter and fuel
>flee totally unharmed
Is this what goldfags think will happen? That there will be an apocalypse and you'll be able to use a heavy, impractical metal to buy food?

I have to enter the pin for my chip credit card at Walmart and Jimmy John's. But only there, for some reason.

>Google products
Mm.....
I only upgraded to smartphones because I got a "Turn in credit" on my dumbphone that gave me a decent smart phone. Pretty much just use it to look up porn in public, which is pretty cool I guess.

In my area the only stores that haven't began utilization of the chips is WalMart, which is weird because you'd imagine a super conglomerate would be the leader of the pact. Then again you don't make money by spending money, I guess.
Dollar General, oddly enough, was the first place to adopt it. Yet the cashiers are too stupid to realize if someone swipes a card it's probably EBT, but when they put the chip in its credit. That shit holds the line up every time.

I work Starbucks too. Are chip reader is recent and people get confused so before they even pay I ask if they have a chip and if they do to insert it so that way shit goes by faster. A line formed cause one fuck kept swiping without realizing he had a chip

It's not a recent thing

We've had them in California for years now.

Besides the US is the one that makes all this tech

It's not even about the happening per se.

Look up what happened to Edgar J Steele. Just follow the news for some high profile events. They freeze bank accounts so you can't get a lawyer or even support your wife/family sometimes.

And also yes, even in a happening you'll be able to trade silver for shit. Not everyone is a retard who lives paycheck to paycheck and has only 2 days worth of food on hand.

what is this shitpostery

a long time from now

our is "if it aint broke dont fix it"

*our motto is

TRUUUUUU smdhtbqhwyfam

Not shitpostery, but the guy I replied to, which caused you to reply to me, was one of those "Reporting thread cause it's not relevant to Sup Forums" fags. Learn to take a compliment cunt.

kek I thought you were being passive aggressive

thx m8

Where do you reckon you're going to trade your silver during the Apocalypse?

I'm sure you'll get your sub-dermal chip implants well before us too.

I work at a bank and you have no idea how hard online banking and chip card activation is. It's sad, I usually pay with my phone and tap things.

It's not chip and PIN m8, it's chip and SIGN. That's if they even use the chip at all as others have said.

The signature isn't checked or anything though. You can literally sign anything and walk out with the goods.

Do American credit cards not let you tap to pay?

Not like the burger made a good insult to begin with. Pointing at a third world flag and saying "Uhh hey at least I'm not poor" is weak af. Don't bully third worlders, we have it shitty enough.

Honestly I think they should make it so that it's the same in every store and all payments except cash can be accepted at the reader.

Wow wtf, really made me think.

>Pretty much just use it to look up porn in public
kek

>In my area the only stores that haven't began utilization of the chips is WalMart, which is weird because you'd imagine a super conglomerate would be the leader of the pact.
You'd think. But then again, they probably don't care. I was being a little dickish in my previous post and yes, most places didn't adopt this touchy shit until recently, I was just saying my phone had the capability 4 years ago.

>Dollar General, oddly enough, was the first place to adopt it.
Honestly, the first place I found in my town that had it was Subway. They just got new POS card readers like right after I bought my phone and sure enough, it had a touch sensor thing. Needless to say, I ate a lot of Subway in the following weeks because I thought it was cool and I wanted to look like a cyborg from the future. I was kind of a faggot back then. Probably still am and I've just grown accustomed to it.

>Yet the cashiers are too stupid to realize if someone swipes a card it's probably EBT, but when they put the chip in its credit. That shit holds the line up every time.
Honestly I still don't fully get my new credit card. I'll go to swipe it and the transaction will fail sometimes, but work when I tap the thing to it. It's happened twice I got it like a month ago. Same place, same counter some other time and it'll work. I don't understand really. They should just make it work however you want it to. I have a feeling those two times was just glitches or some shit.

>apocalypse

Listen pal, do you know what Greece did during their little habbening? They limited how much cash you can withdraw and how often. And that wasn't even a big happening.

The point is, would you rather the government shutdown your account and if this was a legal battle you're in, they could freeze your accounts indefinitely like they did with Mr Steele's, OR you could have some of this "useless" silver laying around that will hold it's value and even increase.

Because if inflation kicks in you won't be able to even use your cash before it's useless. Even in a worse case scenario zombie kike apocalypse you'll still be ahead after it's all over since precious metals will be way more valuable.

Agreed. No matter how many timed we tell people they are just so used to the swipe which I get

now this has my brain sending chemical signals

>payed from my iPhone Apple Pay

superior method xD

Glad we solved our dilemma then my man.
(Pic related: I'm Germanic so you're the roodypoo, sorry senpai)

The chip is a mistake hurried through by female executives who do not understand technology.

Why does it take so fucking long? How is this progress? Am I supposed to just leave it in the reader for 30 seconds so a nigger can run off with it? I've been just holding it, but that seems weird.

Too new for it to be used. I would perfer that though

I think the chinks all use their phones to play for shit, based on the chip inside the phone or something.

They swipe their phone to get into the subway, to pay for things, to do anything.
but then again if you lose your phone you're fucked.

>Honestly, the first place I found in my town that had it was Subway.
>All the Subways in my area are owned my Indians, like India Indians
>Starting to wonder if they're getting their family members in India to update the software for them and charge it to the franchises account

>I have a feeling those two times was just glitches or some shit.
You didn't realize the old geezer behind you who is terrified of technology that has those "pocket liners that disable hackers" shit in his pants fucking up your transaction

truthfully so

Fuck that mother fucking chip reader

Actually the smart card was invented by a French man which is why we have been using that shit for more than thirty years.
