wow it's shit edition
/trek/
6/10, mediocre but better than Voyager.
(so far)
Lots of quick pointless cuts. Go!
that was fucking terrible
That was trash and would be even if the cast was all blond hair and blue eyed.
Can't watch yet, going to pick it up later. Spoil me senpaitachi. Is it bad enough to have a drunk watch party to?
SAVE US DUKAT
How is Spindly McCoward a good prey animal? He has no meat.
There's nothing wrong with Voyager.
it's jj trek in television form

This might actually be pretty good
yea but aside from Seven's ass and tits there isn't much good about it either
Maybe if she could deliver lines
>mfw sound in space
>mfw filters at 100% don't block out all the light
Please calm down Trek Fanbase. I'm attempting to inject in more Star Trek comics into your blood stream to help keep you going. Right now I'm also applying new books to your wound, but until we get a decent successor series.... let's not worry about that now.
>24 ships
>24 Great Houses
Really gets you thinking
Michael literally advocated the brutal murder of all blacks and Muslims on planet earth. She was /ourgirl/ all along.
please give me a massive dose of DS9 books doc, stat
>relying on visual optics instead of your dozens of different and redundant sensors
No.

>Black character already in jail
>mfw I like it
I haven't seen a second of Discovery but I have a hard time believing it's better than Voyager.
It ain't sound
why, it wouldn't be that hard
The niggons so far are the least shit part of this.
sensible_chuckle.gif
>acoustics are muted
they literally pressed a mute button
>running to Sarek when you know your captain is going to get you and your crew killed
I don't know how to feel about this
It's the commchannel that they had open when they were hailing the Klingons.
So the cloak is actually unique to this coffin ship
Patient, please understand that a large influx of DS9 books will make you resistant and bored with it if I inject that much into your wound right now.
That being said, I'm running a simulation to see if the Genesis Wave series is a good substitute but... preliminary results are not looking good.
ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS, NOT VIACOM LICENSE CONFIRMED, THIS IS A SEPARATE TIMELINE REBOOT
they're even less racist than the federation
...
Is this for sure a separate timeline?
Info on timeline finally coming out? I might watch if its the actual one I guess.
No, the ALL CAPS POSTER has been repeatedly BTFO. Just ignore them.

see And immediately after they state that it was a subspace signal, electromagnetic, and it was making the hull resonate.
I bet they're flying Nicholas Meyer to the studio in an F-15
...
Vulcans use mind melds to wake people up?
>all ships are Klingon
Not only has Burnham not been punished for being shitty, but she's being actively being proven right by the plot. I think every writer in the industry has fried their brain on Xanax, this is proof
Moonves is the most powerful man in network television. As Chairman and CEO of CBS, he turned down a merger request between Viacom and CBS recently from Shari Redstone herself. Turning down that from the majority holder of both companies takes balls, and Moonves has got them. He has such complete control of CBS that he can say "no" to the Redstones.
Moonves does not have unrealistic expectations for CBS All Access. In their last quarterly report, they have just under 4 million subscribers, with the modest goal of just 8 million subscribers by 2020. He's not looking for immediate profitability, he just wants to make sure CBS has a viable OTT platform. All Access can lose money for the next decade, and it wouldn't matter too much as long as they are building a library of premium digital content. For comparison, Netflix is willing to spend $6 Billion on content in the next year alone, funded by debt. This is a game on that magnitude, $100 million loss is nothing.
CBS is unique in that the other Big 3 broadcasters (ABC, NBC, and FOX) are all partners in Hulu, while CBS stands alone. So they know All Access will never reach the quantity of Hulu, let alone Netflix, and thus can lose money for years on Discovery and still be willing to produce it. They just need subscribers to subsidize the production of content, not be quickly profitable. And they will never let the Star Trek property ever go elsewhere, not when IP is so precious in this environment (Paramount is controlled by Viacom / Redstones').
how many Serek scenes are we going to have?
why would the comm channel be so loud that it could literally paralyze the entire bridge crew
that is retarded
But they weren't paralyzed, they were just annoyed by it.
>the episode is okay
>Sup Forums complains nonstop
>the cliffhanger is shitty
>Sup Forums has nothing to say
What's going on?
...that's it?
they were hunched over in pain and unable to do anything until the sound ended
You bet your ass they'll do the anthology switcheroo now.
Clearly they weren't unable to do anything, since they were able to talk to each other, look at their panels and turn the noise off.
why is a child in charge of this police force?
Question...
They say that season 1 is exclusively on CBS Go or some shit like that.
Looking at the TV guide for next week, I don't see the show.
Does this mean that this episode was nothing but a teaser to force us through a pay wall?
TV shit, but they were unable to do anything tactically until they ended the sound
stop being autistic
...
Yes
Is it just me or did this episode feel a lot like prelude to axanar?
Yes
They weren't in a tactical situation, so of course you didn't see them try to do anything tactically.
Yes
Man, if this is the quality of writing we can expect from Discovery, that shit is dead for sure. Man that was fucking stupid.
most people ITT didn't even watch it
they just came to complain because Sup Forums told them to
b...but reddit loves it!
Her body was nice but her face wasn't pretty at all with that weird nose.
Yes
The only part I had a problem with was her flying in a fucking space suit alone to go do recon. That was retarded. Emotional woman being emotional was interesting.
>Europa self-destructing
pottery
Does this mean the rest of the season isn't going to be broadcast on the normal CBS channel?
Because if that's true, that's a really stupid idea.
Piss off. Most of the complaints are in real time to stupid shit the show pulled.
They don't, most in the discussion thread are calling it not star trek.
Has anyone uploaded Ep 2 yet?
MAKE QO'NOS GREAT AGAIN
MAKE QO'NOS GREAT AGAIN
MAKE QO'NOS GREAT AGAIN
MAKE QO'NOS GREAT AGAIN
MAKE QO'NOS GREAT AGAIN
Why is every other shot at an angle? Also unnecessary solar flares a la Abrams
That's exactly what's going to happen. And it's incredibly stupid.
So Episode 2 won't air, and they expect people to buy their stream service just to watch the 2nd half of the 2 part opener? What the actual fuck.
When Deanna asked Will if she could romantically pursue his transporter-created clone, he said it was fine. But it wasn't fine. Ever since Thomas came aboard, all Deanna's attention was on him with none left for Will. How come Deanna was no longer interested in him at all? What happened to him in the last eight years to make him pale in comparison to Thomas?
To make matters worse, Will had taken to stress-eating to make himself feel better. It had gone from nightly binges at Ten Forward to nonstop snacking throughout the day. There was hardly a moment where he was not popping food into his mouth in an attempt to satisfy his expanding stomach that required more and more to feel full.
All of this took a toll on Will's body. His stomach protruded a couple inches in front of him, hanging slightly over the waistband of his uniform pants. Love handles padded his sides and his shirt rode up over them whenever he bent down. The once identical Rikers now had a 10-kilo disparity between them. Will knew that any shred of physical attraction Deanna (and any other women in Starfleet, for that matter) had for him must have disappeared. It made his heart sink as he stuffed himself with donuts knowing he would just pile on more weight.
>voyager is bad meme
DS9 retards are fucking worst
>The only part I had a problem with was her flying in a fucking space suit alone to go do recon. That was retarded.
Seriously, do they not have fucking probes? Even if it wouldn't work that's still the first logical thing to do before sending a crew member in, ESPECIALLY the first officer of the damn ship.
so we should love it then
At least that felt like trek
>none of the pew pew pew that Sup Forums promised, the whole episode is just people talking
>none of the SJW shit the Sup Forums promised, Burnham is pro-bigotry
>the biggest problem is just a boring cliffhanger that will inspire 0 (zero) people to sign up for All Access
Sup Forums BTFO?
Pretty much everything in the episode was fine apart from Burnham being a total asshole, which I'm praying is just initial characterization, and the shots being a little too quick and dutch angled for my tastes. Slower panning shots on the bridge would be nicer.
The Klingons having Goa'uld aesthetics was also weird, but these are religious nuts. It'd be nicer if we see the rest of them have hair, which is really what throws the designs off.
